Ferrari Team Quotes – Kimi Raikkonen – DNF: "I am very unhappy because I
could have finished in the points. Unfortunately, I had a hydraulic
problem linked to the control of the accelerator which meant I had to
retire. At the start I managed to make up a few places but then, I
found myself behind Heidfeld’s BMW. The car is better, but we must fix these reliability problems.
Obviously, when you have to make up ground you can end up making
avoidable errors, as has happened to us in this first part of the
season, but that doesn’t mean to say the team has lost its way. We are
the same people who over the past two years have won three world titles
out of the four available."

https://i0.wp.com/img27.imageshack.us/img27/5543/evenstarsays.png Typical! This weekend was just jinxed for Kimi, wasn’t it? Both qualifying and the race were doomed. In qualifying, we had a ridiculous team decision to blame but in the race Kimi’s car had failed. So, the F60B isn’t strong yet even though Ferrari have worked hard on the development and they have improved but reliability and especially the KERS remains to be a problem.

The BBC interview with Kimi was shown before the race and it was great and you can watch it at the end of this post. Kimi, you’re my hero! But I knew there would be further Kimi bashing by the presenters and I was right – Eddie Jordan needs a big, hard, cold slap. There he continued, hating on Kimi, saying he can’t see Kimi racing next year and that Kimi should be suspended and that he would sack him himself if he was in charge. Jordan even dared to say Ferrari should put Michael Schumacher back in the car – and he ca do a better job with one hand. As you could imagine, I was absolutely FURIOUS. I have written a complaint ended with "From all Kimi fans from around the world: you suck," and I urge any other BBC viewers to do the same. How can the BBC hire people like this to say so much rubbish about a person without the facts? What has Kimi done so wrong this year? What can he do with such a shit car? What has Massa done, for that matter? Who actually scored points for Ferrari? Wasn’t it Kimi? What happened to Massa today, Eddie? He qualified 4th and he hardly improved – he had to let Vettel pass because of being short on fuel! Haha! And then Alonso in the Renault passed him too! I’m not surprised that Felipe Baby had a rubbish race, that was embarrassing. At least Kimi scored his 3 points in Bahrain by actually racing for it – Massa gained his 3 points by losing two positions even though he qualified higher in Spain than Kimi did in Bahrain. And Massa didn’t even finish the race, hahaha! Yeah, let me laugh at the others for a change. Ferrari aren’t doing a good enough job, but where’s Massa? That’s my point. Otherwise, I never laugh at a driver’s misfortune because we Kimi fans know how that feels.

Eddie Jordan just needs to hate on Kimi because he’s got nothing else valuable to say. Well you know what? Fuck you Eddie, you can talk, and just as well you’re not in charge because the team wouldn’t get anywhere in 10 years. Funny, your team ain’t even in F1 anymore! Hahahaha! So keep waffling for your day job, if it makes you feel better, you pathetic, worthless, little man. Just as well Kimi doesn’t care. You see, Kimi doesn’t bullshit and waffle unlike most people. Yes, I know I’m wasting time even responding to the crap by Jordan’s comments but someones got to stand up for Kimi and the crap coverage he’s been getting and that’s what a fan does, through thick and thin! And what did Hamilton say after the race? He was clearly frustrated with the car and complained to the BBC that he’s not been given a car to defend his title, even though he tried to mask his annoyance by saying "the team always do a fantastic job" and that crap – WOW. You’d never, ever hear Kimi speak like that. But unsurprisingly, Eddie Jordan and Co didn’t mind him whinging and slagging off the team like that! HAHAHAHA!

Okay, now that I’ve got that off my chest let’s talk about the the race: During the outlap, Kimi came onto the team radio and mentioned the KERS not working properly, although like with most muffled team radio sounds I’m not sure exactly what he said. Kimi’s start from 16th place was very good – he was up into 10th after the first two corners. And this even when he said, after he retired, that he couldn’t see the start lights because of the rear wing infront of him and being so far at the back. So Kimi relied on when the other cars moved, for his start! Considering this, jumping into 10th place was pretty good, haha! He was lucky not to have been caught in that big clash in turn 1 between Trulli and Sutil.

So with Kimi in 10th place with a BMW in the front and behind him, you’d expect him to pass Nick Heidfeld fairly easily with the KERS onboard because neither BMW have KERS this weekend. But Kimi was struggling to get close to Heidfeld. Between laps 12-15, we were seeing Kimi desperately sliding as he tried to close the gap. In one lap where Kimi was neither faster or slower than Heidfeld, Kimi found 0.3 tenths of a second in the final sector. Where did this come from? If his KERS wasn’t working, and I don’t believe it was, then Kimi was trying to pass on his own effort alone so he was definately trying 110%. And overtaking at Catalunya isn’t exactly easy. After three attempts of trying to pass Heidfeld, it seemed Kimi’s hydraulics failed but he said it was a problem with the throttle control. Probably both. And so Kimi’s race was over on lap 17 out of 66. He rolled slowly at the side of the track and eventually the car couldn’t move any further up the corner and Kimi had to get out and walk to the pits. I’m sorry for our fellow Kimi fans from the forum who were at the race this weekend.

The next race is at Monaco on the 24th May. And from now to then, I’ll be very busy with my own studies and I hope Ferrari will be too. The F60B clearly has some bugs that it’s first race would’ve inevitably shown as it did today at Spain, so it’s not an entire surprise. Kimi’s post-race comments are typically Kimi – calm, cool and no sign of finger-pointing or panic. Kimi has said that "We are
the same people who over the past two years have won three world titles
out of the four available," and I’m sure the team will really appreciate that. He is absolutely correct too.

We’re always here for you Kimi, we believe in you and know you are fully committed and focused. You are the fastest and you always give your best. Even if the results never show the full story, we see it, we hear it, we feel it. In every vein, in every beating of my heart and every breath I’ll ever take – Keep Flying Kimi!

Evenstar, how awful that you had to put up with such biased reporting. I thought what we had in Sg wasn’t great as well – repeated remarks about how Kimi must be glad to end the horrid weekend and he could go get an ice cream – I didn’t find that funny at all. Anyway, Kimi did a great job at the start – the car breaking down was a real pity as he would’ve had a good shot at the points. Meanwhile, Forza Kimi and bring on the next race!!

I’ve written a very angry complaint to the BBC now, about the insulting towards Kimi because quite frankly that’s what they’re doing.Anyways, Ferrari really need to sort themselves out. Hopefully Luca d Montezemolo will give them a spanking.

oh man! the bcc seems even worse then the german reportage on rtl… they even said that it wasnt kimis own effort to get from 16 to 10… they said he was just lucky coz of the accident… i mean how come kimi was 10th before the accident ?? … they really dont have a clue… but i’m not gonna go into it even more… it just makes me mad… this weekend is really just to forget and although it was also kimis fault at yesterdays qualifying… he really tried his best today. so go kimi ^^

Well, at least Kimi leaped frog 6 positions at the start to 10th after the 1st corner melee. What an exciting crash, though! As for Ferrari…mistake in Kimi’s qualifying, further mistake in re-fuelling Massa’s car, reliability issue with Kimi’s car…isn’t it always easy to hurl criticisms at the drivers when it is obviously a team & car problem?! You only need to look at how Hamilton is performing this year compared to Button. The car is more than 50% contributory factor of a winning formula. I am so glad we don’t get the BBC commentary of Coulthard & Jordan. We should not be subjected to inane and unfounded remarks when there’s enough crap already on air! Anyway, well done to Mark Webber. A deserved podium. We wait for the next race to see if Ferrari can rectify their blunders & reliability issues.

Yeah that crash was like a firework! always glad that noone got hurt. The safety is really good in F1.Mark Webber was awesome today, especially with the re-pass on Alonso – so aggressive! I hope we see them racing together more often if that’s what they will produce! lol!Poor day for the Finns…Heikki had a problem…then Kimi had a problem…

Oh Saima, thank you for writing that complaint. I’m so tempted to do it myself. I want to write to Eddie Jordan and tell him to shut the f*** up. He’s such an idiot, why does he abuse Kimi like that? Everyone does it, is it just because Kimi doesn’t fight back? Grrr. So annoying. I wanted to strangle Eddie Jordan. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing while he was saying it. Is it personal or something?!And yeah, I noticed that Hamilton hasn’t been that enthusiastic about his team. He said something before about how "we just have to try our best with what the guys have given us" or something.Anyway. Kimi’s still no1 for us. 🙂 It was disappointing, but his start was amazing! How can they say he lacks motivation? Sheesh. Pippa says the commentators on Star Sports are better- Steve Slater. He doesn’t think Kimi lacks motivation. Good on him. :)And Ferrari… so frustrating. Don’t know what to say about them anymore. 😦

Kimi did a great job to jump from 16 to ten position in the beginning but always something wrong with his car an a lot of mistakes from the team. The Kers wasen’t working very well in the outlap. And what jordan say about Kimi " what a crap that man is " persona no gratta " His the most con man i ever now. And please jump Dominicali out of the pittwall and give us jean toth back. I think thats the problem that Ferrari had during the last 2 years. i SHUT MY EYES CLOSSED FOR MONACO. But any way keep flying Kimi and give an aswer in two weeks time Please

It’s so frustrating to hear about all the negative comments with regards to Kimi when he’s just trying his best to do a good job. I mean, come on, all those commentators probably think he would be a good bashing target simply because he doesn’t speak much, therefore will not respond to their utterly ridiculous and immature comments. He’s a man of few words, and he lets his driving do all the talking. All the more why we true blue Kimi fans support him so dearly – because he doesn’t point fingers at anybody else and tries again at the next race. I must say I am heartened that at least in Australia we have one commentator who supports Kimi. Eddie always has something positive to say bout him.. =)

That’s so true….Good to hear that there are at least some F1 commentators out there who aren’t as stupid. All Kimi fans, Ferrari fans, even Massa fans, are in a tough time right now. As a team, we can’t get mad at eachother, even though it’s hard not to at first! but that’s natural. I’m sure Kimi and the team are together in this and not facing the difficulties in silence. Domenicali isn’t Jean Todt and Todt won’t come back. I tell you who needs to piss off, it’s that Michael Schumacher first of all…

Yah, I forgot all about Webber & Alonso’s fight at one point of the race. Wasn’t that a smooth position fight back from Mark ?! Pleased to read you fired off a complaint to BBC. I would’ve done the same if they had broadcasted such incendiary comments over here. Nothing bad was said about Kimi’s retirement except disappointment on not seeing him fight for points after such promise from Ferrari’s update. BTW, Saima, are you able to upload the BBC interview with Kimi ? One HD did not show that and we usually aren’t able to access videos in the BBC website here in Australia. If it’s in Youtube, then no problems. Understand you will be busy with studies, so just direct us to the link if that’s easier. Thanks.

On the Ferrari website, it says that Kimi’s reliability problem has yet to be understood. Agree re the spanking: Jean Todt should come back and do the honours. Kimi & Felipe should be spared of course, 🙂 since they’ve obviously tried very hard only to be let down by the machinery. I was totally holding my breath at the end wondering whether Felipe would come in at all. It’s a hard time being a Kimi & Ferrari fan, but I love ’em both anyway 🙂

Yes I just read that on Ferrari’s site too. It was obviously just a plain reliability failure, hydraulics or throttle, doesn’t matter. Ferrari are the only team having reliability issues.Apparently, Domenicali has called for a crisis meeting within the team – LOL!@Trixie: that interview video will be uploaded soon, yeah 🙂 I’ll definately post it on the blog tomorrow, don’t worry!

Agreed all that Kimi had a great start today and was so relieved that he was not involved in the accident. Pippa was right that the ESPN Star Sport commentator, Steve Slater made some good remarks on Kimi’s motivation today, although I was quite surprised as he can be a bit nasty sometimes. When Kimi retired, he did say that Kimi can grab an ice-cream but today he said in a joking mode…so not that bad!Agreed Saima, Kimi did his best to overtake Heidfeld, even without KERS….he’s faster than BMW, but a few minutes later, the problem starts! Feeling very dissappointed and cannot see Kimi’s flying, I didn’t watch the race thereafter and when I re-joined at lap 63, OMG….what happened to Ferrari/Massa!!!! Pity……but let’s hear what the team has to say!!!! This is definitely a weekend to forget and as said by Steve Slater…Ferrari did make some improvements but still very fragile! Hope they can work-out something before Monaco!!!!It’s really hard to be Kimi’s fans, but Kimi, we always believe in you and keep flying!!!

Our Kimi is the one who always do his best and never give up and sometimes never feel satisfied. He has the higher target than what he could do!That’s our Kimi! Have you noticed that whenever Michael Schumacher is there something bad always happens. Im thinking the tyre incident with Kimi and the qualifying incidents for both Kimi and Felipe. As for Eddie Jordon- i was so angry i couldnt even look at him when the race had finished. I happen to think that Kimi did an excellent job last race managing to score some very much needed points with a car that was crap. As for this race i thought he got off to an excellent start and i was beginning to feel very optimistic- right up until the point he had that reliability issue. Ferrari really need to get this reliability problem sorted out and quickly! As for now, im hoping the team get to grips and Kimi can show that Eddie Jordon what for at Monaco! Gooo Kimi!

You’re welcome Valerie!@Matt: Schumi was at Spain last year when Kimi took pole, won and got the fastest lap….so even though he may come across as a jinx most of the time, on some occassions he clearly is not! lol but I just wish he would get lost…what is the point of him being there? he does not drive the cars. Like I’ve previously said in the comments, he’s just a distraction and he’s not letting the team focus on Massa and Kimi like they should. Whatever Schumi’s input is, how about the team actually just listen to their drivers instead and stuff Schumacher. The car itself has improved but because there’s no testing allowed, a situation like Ferrari is in has to be sorted during the actual race weekends now and so what happened with the F60B is no surprise. Still, it doesn’t excuse the stupid decisions made by the guys on their strategies…

saima, eddie jordan is a disgrace and a joke, who needs to be sacked. he’s been incredibly annoying and argumentative since race 1, making derogatory comments left, right and centre, but today’s attack on kimi – especially after such a nice, balanced interview with kimi by leigh, and the comments by DC immediately before jordan’s outburst – was vitriolic, baseless and supremely unprofessional. i have been watching F1 for 15 years and i’ve NEVER heard a commentator make such shocking and disrespectful comments about any driver. i am not a hardcore kimi fan, but i was really angry today, the pre-race coverage was ruined for me too (mini-rant about the motorhomes, anyone? WTF?) i really feel for you and other kimi devotees saima, but honestly, no true F1 fan switches on to hear this nastiness. i’m about to make my complaint to the BBC, which i think i’ve just written! group hug everyone 🙂 from jo-anne (ps. i was a schumi fan for 13 years, how dare jordan bring his name into it! huh.)

I’ve submitted my complaint too. Seriously, Eddie Jordan should apologize or show proof to back up his claims (no proof that I can see. Unless he wants to make Michael join a race single-handedly and see if he can win). It still makes me mad to think of all that EJ said. Who is he to criticize anyone, anyway? Ferrari and other teams aren’t sure if they’ll be in F1 for much longer- and that’s what Kimi said too, because of these rule changes- so why doesn’t EJ go pick on them?Love the interview of Kimi! He’s smiling and everything. It’s great. 😀 His English has really improved over the years, and his answers are as great as ever. :)-Chiara

@Evenstar … Michael is an employee of Ferrari and helps mainly with their road cars (I know he’s given some input where the team is concerned too and did some testing last year) and to tell him he needs to stay away from races would be like telling all people who are there with Ferrari but might not have a specific thing they’re doing that they aren’t allowed to be there … I’m sure if Luca thought Michael there was causing a problem, he would find a way to make sure Michael wasn’t there. As it is, according to information/rumors, Michael and Ferrari will no longer have a working relationship after this season is over, that should please some of you (maybe most of you), which means he probably won’t be at races (or he might be in the garage of BGP).I thank my lucky stars I don’t have to listen to the BBC and strangely enough, our commentators haven’t started trashing Kimi yet this year Tired of people who have been in the business for years talking BS as if they didn’t know anything and were just saying things because of rumors they heard and not any hard truth they could actually offer … think EJ has spent too much time with DC. Anyone know if Kimi ever turned down a drive with EJ’s team? We already know why DC doesn’t like him.

Just couple of months ago a read an interwiev of an old lady, who was the first woman ever driven F1 car. That had happened 1950’s. Lady was asked, who is her favorite driver nowdays. You guess who that was, Kimi Räikkönen. And why? Because Kimi is like drivers in 1950’s. He is just drivind, not talking BULL SHIT!

What a disastrous weekend it was! I know "if" doesn’t excist in racing, but Kimi passed Fernando during his monster-start (expected yet spectacular) which means he could have finished in fourth place! :@ Without KERS! And hounding birthday-boy Nick Heidfeld… when KERS isn’t working it must feel like driving with a rock in the back of your car. Next stop Monaco, but I don’t see Ferrari capable of scoring pole-position. Great drive also from Fernando, that move on Hamilton when exiting the pits must have felt good (even though it was of no significance). At least one of his Youngest-ever-records will be safe from Lewis:P And to the people who still doubt: all people who got involved in the crash at the start were already passed by Kimi when the accident took place! He just owned, get over it (but I don’t think I have to convince anyone of that around here) .
