Circuit: Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello – 5.245 km
Driver: Kimi Raikkonen
Car: Ferrari F60
Weather: air temperature 11 °C, track temperature 10 °C. Overcast with occassional rain.
Ferrari continued working with their new F60 car at Mugello, where the Italian squad were again hampered by the poor weather.
The circuit was wet throughout the whole day, as Kimi Raikkonen drove the new car for the second time.
The Finn covered 42 laps with a best time of 1:33.920 and reached a speed up to 124.9mph. Despite the weather, the former was champion was positive.
"It’s always nice to drive a new car for the first time," said
Raikkonen. "Unfortunately, because of the weather, we were not able to
push to the limit, but these things happen.
"All the same, first impressions are positive and, above all, it’s
important that we didn’t have any particular technical problems."
Teammate Felipe Massa will replace Raikkonen tomorrow.
That’s a good start then despite the poor weather, Kimi’s first F60 went well as there were no technical issues. Now he can go and prepare for the Artic Lapland Rally this weekend. Kimi was sporting a slightely different helmet today as you can see in the photo album, but it’s not differently new for 2009 as he used this version last year too, at Singapore for example. His 2008 helmet was excitingly fresh with tribal patterns, compared to the rest of the drivers. But as if his helmet can get anymore crazier than it currently is? Who knows. We’ll find out soon enough. Keep Flying Kimi!

I think the 2008 helmet brings him bad luck. The 2007 one was way more beautiful and way more "lucky".Hope he comes with a new one for 2009.

Haha! Or maybe his Iceman tattoo that he got in December 2007 brought the bad luck? Who knows. Kimi’s had plenty of ‘bad luck’ moments in his career but they’ve made him stronger, and I think it’s more about how life can be for some. Some have worked 110% yet it’s still tough, some work the same and have it easy (Hamilton). I agree with you though, the 2007 helment was really cool. I’m looking forward to whatever Kimi brings to us.
