Kimi Rä
ikkönen will be jumping into a rally car towards the end of this month.

From January 22nd to 24th, Räikkönen will participate in the 44th Arctic Lapland-Rally in the mountains. The Formula One driver, who supports ice hockey team the ‘Blues’ diligently, was seen in the box of LänsiAuto Arena in November in Espoo.

At the box of the Barona arena, a familiar man was seen when Kimi
Räikkönen took soft drinks and encouraged the host team, and later took a photo with Sulander,
the goalie of Zürich Lions
. Eventually
though Räikkönen had to end the night with a disappointed Espoo loss
like others in the stands, he was still able to take solace from the
idea that, unlike the ordinary viewers, he will soon be at the wheel of
a Rally car.

Räikkönen’s name can be found on Finnish Rally Championship list of
the SM-season opening round for the Arctic Lapland Rally Champion, in
Rovaniemi.
Finland’s two most recent F1 world champions will be taking part together as Mika Häkkinen has also registered for the Snow
Rally.

Räikkönen will participate in the competition with a Fiat Grande
Punto S2000, with Kaj Lindström as his co-driver. Häkkinen’s Mitsubishi co-driver is the experienced Ilkka Kivimäki.

Before, the competition known as Tunturiralli, is not
unprecedented interest in the F1-scale. The interruptions of Keke Rosberg
in the snow spout are already a part of the nation’s history and the
target entrance was difficult also to Jyrki Järvilehdollekin. Häkkinen
is already a familiar sight in Lapland, having participated 3 times in the past, and the McLaren boss Norbert
Haug has also visited there to flash his wheel [driving] skills.
Heikki Kovalainen, subordinate to the German, has also paid a visit in
point place of the rally. Although he has read the driving notes for
Janne Tuohinolle.

Rovaniemi and Kemijärvi confirmed late on Wednesday
evening of Kimi’s participation in the rally:

"We are very pleased that we were able to have a mega-star of
motor sport participate," stated competition organizer Heikki Poranen.

"A lot of background work has been done, thanks to the good friends and the right telephone numbers," Poranen continues.
Poranen also revealed that they had tried to involve the seven-time Formula 1 champion, German
Michael Schumacher.

However,
Räikkönen’s inclusion in the polar circle expects plenty media commotion.

"World-class Formula One driver involvement in the Rally is
extremely rare, so the international media is guaranteed to now be
interested in the Arctic Lapland Rally," Poranen believes.

https://i0.wp.com/img236.imageshack.us/img236/6773/krsevenstarsmall3aat2.pngThis is just fantastic. I’m already so excited! There’s so much more to his talent that just driving an F1 car. He has amazing car control and to try it in a rally car is the ultimate test. Kimi’s already spoken about his desire to try rallying after Formula One, he also visited rally friend Anton Alen and sat in his rally car last year. But now, Kimi’s going to do it for real and we can’t miss this. If this will be broadcasted, I’ll post further details about when and where. Here is the rally’s program details. Don’t forget to check out the forum and discuss it all in the Kimi & Rallying thread!

P.S  New rumours about Kimi retiring from F1 this season will probably burst into action now because of this, so be warned!

OMG! This is just amazing!!! Could this be the start of Kimi´s career in rallying??? I know it´s to early to think about it, but hey, he´s trying it! I´m so happy and excited, because he has voiced his desire to try rally so many times, it´s going to be a wild ride! The guy who´s racing alongside Kimi is lucky; I noticed that Mika is going to be there as well…cool, the flying Finns!!!Keep flying Kimi!!! :p

Mika has done this quite a few times before, but it will be great to see Kimi doing it too. Just as long as he isn’t too exuberant and remembers he has a WDC to win this year! Isn’t he so considerate to give us something to look out for in the long wait until the end of March!?

Google translator – really. That’s interesting. Because "your" article looks/reads exactly like two articles I spent hours translating (and posted).

Hey Rebecca, yes, on the official forum members usually post finnish articles about Kimi and use google translator for a rough understanding. Please check this thread out: http://www.kimiraikkonen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=163&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=4560In my own excitement and rush, I didn’t notice there was no mention of google translation being used for those two articles, but the members usually uses that when they post – otherwise they ALWAYS credit whoever translated it for them. The member who posted it, didn’t. Which is why I said google translator, as that’s what I had assumed 🙂 I now assume you are that member, Red? And there were quite a few typos and syntax in those posted, so I definately re-edited them when I published it here. I never said I translated them, I said I re-edited them. I apologise if your effort somehow got ignored. I had no idea, because it wasn’t made clear. I did give my thanks in that thread to you for posting the news however: http://www.kimiraikkonen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=163&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=4580anyways, all cleared up I hope 🙂
