Kimi’s Column: Belgian GP Review – “At Full Gallop”

From KimiRaikkonen.com

https://i0.wp.com/img219.imageshack.us/img219/8553/826718911000ld0.jpgObviously we didn’t get the result we were looking for at Spa, but it was great to get back in the real racing rhythm.

I’ve finally got the feeling I want in the car and the circuit of Spa Francorchamps is certainly the best of them all to have a Formula One race.

I had a brilliant start from the second row, and after that it was fantastic to start real racing. I overtook the two guys infront of me without problem and after that we controlled the pace very smoothly.

Already before coming to Belgium, my only objective was to win that race. I was only interested in finishing first. Nothing else was good enough and it would have only meant that the point gap to the leader would have grown more.

At the end of the day it was as little as two laps and four minutes short for me. We didn’t become the kings of the hill but we had to come full circle. I spun and sled into the wall. Then I had to walk back to the pits like I did in Valencia, too. But this time we had fought for the victory till the very bitter end, while in Valencia we didn’t have any chance to win.

When the rain started, it was very tricky to lead the race. We had some problems with the hard tyres since the very beginning of the final stint. While the rain came it didn’t help and it was slipping and sliding the whole way through after that. I tried to fight and got back in the lead but then I hit the wall and got nothing out of it.

Nevertheless, there is no reason to complain. I did my very best but it was not enough. It’s the same sometimes in a game of icehockey or in a race of motocross. You get punches and blows but you just carry on and fight back. There is no reason for me to start worrying about what has happened or to stop trying. I will fight until the very end.

The points will be counted just after the final race and the one who has the most, wins the championship. Nothing is certain before that.

We have five races to go. Obviously my position is not ideal but that doesn’t mean I will give up.

Now it’s time for the Italian Grand Prix and we will come to Monza with a very good feeling. Monza is the real Mecca of the Tifosi and and there will be a lot of Finnish fans, too. It’s the place where we go really, really quick. It’s great to go there with everything working well in my car.

Last year I had a big shunt just before the qualifying. I hit the wall in a big way and that hurt and made the whole weekend the toughest of them all for me during last season.

Before Spa we had a productive test in Monza and the car felt well to suit there. But you never know how competitive you are before the qualifying session.

We try our very best to win for the team and the fans. It’s the real home of the Prancing Horse and it would be almost out of this world to win the Italian Grand Prix for the first time.

At least I don’t have anything to lose. I just go flat out!

https://i0.wp.com/i11.photobucket.com/albums/a188/SaimaAzam/Misc/krsevenstarsmall3.png That’s the Raikkonen spirit! You pick yourself up, and get on with it. Afterall guys, Kimi doesn’t need us to tell him to go all balls out and have fun, he surely will do it anyway. I can hardly contain my excitement! Now, I must get on with the Belgian GP highlight video ~

Hiya! He sounds great! It´s old Kimi back alright! I know he was never gone, I said it in another post, he just got a little lost in the mid season, and the car troubles weren´t helping, but now he sounds like himself again. Things with the car seem to be better, he seems to like the way the car is behaving and that´s more than positive. And yes, he will never complain or whine about loosing a race, specially not one like Spa, where he gave his very best. He´s not giving up that´s for sure, he´ll fight til Brazil like a madman, and if he doesn´t win, he´ll try next year, but at least we know he´s having fun again and isn´t afraid to risk everything to achieve what he wants. That´s our Iceman.Keep flying Kimi – Keep flying Evenstar!!!

I believe that Kimi is the best F1 because he has all outstanding qualities. He showed at the last competition in Belgium. However, the reason that was a negative result ís that he had to drive to deport twice too early for some reasons.  At any way, he will win champoinship this year if he believe himself. And he does!

Gosh dang it. My blood starts pumping just reading his column! Kimi is the most awesome Formula 1 driver ever. Of course theres been drivers before him that were equally fantastic racers. But none with that almost absurd non-dramatic look on life – his ability to move on – his savoir faire. Gotta love the guy. He is the real deal. Nothing jaded or fake about him.
Go Kimi – go like the wind! *tear* And kick some ass in Monza! 😀

That’s one great column. Kimi says he’s finally got the right feeling in the car. And Kimi also said that Monza is the place where ‘we’ go really really quick. Now that’s great. As Kimi said about the good feeling in the car, we all know he was faster than Felipe in Q2(very rarely seen this season), moreover his Q3 first lap was also quicker than Felipe, it was only his 2nd try in Q3 that got a bit messed up n he nearly lost half a second.

Did you guys read in the press. Some of you may be British, so I’ll have to apologize in advance but the british media is very very biased, i never imangined. Look what propaganda they are carrying out agains the decision of the stewards. As Felipe said, if Lewis took the chicane correctly, he would have ‘never ever’ been able to pass kimi in the first corner. And look at the way Lewis himself describes it, he says Kimi left him no where to go except to cut the chicane. Man i am beginning to hate this liar, cheater and stealer. I have even stopped reading all his comments praising only himself. Did u see in post race press conference, how he criticised Kimi.

Most importantly the wildest and weirdest thing I noticed is the or analysis from British media, they fail to praise Kimi’s race. It seems they never saw the start when their bitch was whipped all over the place from the flying finn who started down in 4th, they saw only the end when their bitch cheated or tried to cheat and was whipped again.. by the authorities and to some extent Kimi himself.
One example of this bias is planetf1.com’s adrew davies, who is only writes vulgar, most importantly I found James Allen’s post the most pathetic, he fails to recongnise Kimi’s brilliant race, he discusses hamilton, massa, heidfeld, alonso and even that unmentionable Button but no Kimi as Kimi whooped Lewis’ bottom all over the place.

    sorry for the rant…..

@Hasan – I enjoyed your comment so much! And I couldn´t agree more with how the British media are handling this, trying to make a martyr out of Hamster. And yes, planetf1.com are the worst! At least other websites such as gpupdate.net try to be fair and not favour anyone, but this other site just makes me want to vomit, because they not only DON´T even mentioned Kimi´s amazing race, but they started an all out rant against Ferrari, and many people who posted their opinion were saying that they should watch the footage of the race again and maybe they´d understand that the penalty was fairly handed, but oh well…..I also loved you calling the Hamster "their bitch"(Soren likes to call him Hamster, thought it was tooo funny and suitable!).Anyway, now let´s move on to Monza and rock on!!!KEEP FLYING KIMI – KEEP FLYING EVENSTAR!!!

@Sol – Thanks! Na i don’t like to use profane words as our culture and religion prohibit them but they were emotions that drained out inadvertantly. I have been reading ur comments, soren’s, saima’s, alesandro’s for some time now and i’m it feels we’re a united family. that’s great. yeah you pin pointed correctly tht they’re actually trying to make a martyr out of Lewis. I heard the spanish media is very biased and pesky but it turns out to be other way round.

And something that u all would hv noticed is some ex-f1 drivers who really pass silliest of comments and always in favour of hamlton and McLaren. take for example Sir Jackie Stewart, that goofy idiot has only to criticise Mosley, Fia and Ferrari and always speaks in favour of Mclaren n their lorry driver Hamilton. I agree with Mosley that this jerk is certainly ‘a certified halfwit’, now sue me Jackie.  Another joke of a thing is Niki Lauda who does not hv anything left in his brain due to his age but even then that guy doesn’t shut up, always coming up with disgusting comments. he said this was the worst decision in F1 history, why can’t this retired pest comment something on Kimi’s awesome race or Heideld’s performance. He never has anything to say about any other driver other than Hammi or his bitch Kovi or their Igloo, the Mclaren team. You don’t find anythig silly from say Damon Hill, even he is British. After controversy in Spa, everyone had something to say but Hill didn’t say anything because that’s what a wise person is all about.

I am a staunch supporter of Kimi Raikkonen. Needless to say I have read through everything on KRS and I believe it is one of the very best web sites. You really put in a lot of effort and you are doing an excellent job. It must be very hard work but I can see that there is pure enjoyment on your side. This is the first time that I have ever made a comment on the Internet! I have wanted to do so for more than a year now… After this weekend I could not resist the urge to say something. Although Kimi did not score any points this weekend in my opinion he made a major mental leap and is in fact the real winner. He showed his critics that he is a force to be reckoned with. What I really liked to see this past race was the Kimi just went all out. It was so good to see. The flying Finn! I hope he will be able to build on all the positives that came out of this weekend. It does sound as if there was some progress with regard to the car.

Soren is right about Kimi: he is the real deal, there is nothing fake about Kimi. And that is what I like about him. He is a very private guy who just likes to race and get on with things. How he must hate these endless media attention and silly questions.

I do not know much about web sites such as these and I was wondering, Evenstar, if you  ever have personal contact with Kimi. How does he feel about KRS?  Have you ever met him in person?

Thanks once again for your very hard work. It is much appreciated!

PS We South Africans like nicknames. "Hamster" is certainly a name for our rival that I could get use to!

OMG! I have to read these funny comments later, I’m in a rush but I’m here to answer Suzette quickly.Hello Suzette! Get in there! We love chatting around here, it’s really fun. Sol123 in particular loves to say anything! hehe. Thanks a lot for dropping by to comment, that’s really great. I have no idea if Kimi knows about this place but I like to think he does. I haven’t met him in person either but…I also like to think I have! At Silverstone last year, he waved at my banner and went on to win and kick that Lewis’s goofy butt:)

@S.M.Hasan if you think the British media is bad from where you are, you should try living here and not being a Hamilton fan! Peter White’s site  http://rosehillpilot.spaces.live.com/default.aspx  has been advertised by Saima before, and if you want to understand why the British media are so biased, this place will tell you why. It’s an awful lot of reading to go through his entire blog, but it’s really really worth it.

@Nick I’d like to clarify that I never think British media is bad, it is just a bit biased towards Hamilton. Hamilton kind of awakens their patriotic feelings. I was reading yet another column by a British, ITV’s Ted Kravitz’s Spa notebook and he too came up with all the bullshit about the penalty and stewards and perhaps Ferrari’s invisible influence and stuff like that but he never mentioned anything about Kimi’s pulsating start. This is what amazes me. It looks as if their eyes are shut when Kimi is blitzing the field..

@Saima,,, yeah i read Peter’s blog.. It’s great to read his stuff as it is to the point and unbiased. He is the first guy who has talked about Raikkonen’s start( by the way, he is British). Amazing, so many websites are out there and NONE of them said anything about Raikkonen’s start and his race thereon. Only the end and the penalty and the decision of stewards is what they saw it seems. Although they saw the start, the race thereon, Kimi’s second stint, his fastest lap but they ignore it. Aweful!! isn’t it.

I can’t imagine being in Britian and being a Kimi fan or shall I say not a Hamster fan. I don’t know how Saima does it. Saima you hv anything to say..

@Suzette. I read ur comment the other day.. Just like u, i hv been coming to this website since last year but never commented. It was I think aftr Hungary when people started questioning Kimi’s speed and motivation, that i thought I should let that bile out, u know what i mean.. since then I have been regularly commenting and that really is special, gives u feeling of interaction and unity among KImi fans.
Keep the comments coming.. and i liked urs so let them flowing. I know when Kimi wins in Monza, this place will be flooded. One important that Saima mentioned is the new chassis Kimi got. that’s weird, after Montezmolo came to the tests, Kimi gets a new chassis and off he goes setting the track on fire…
