Interview with Kimi – Post Canada GP

From Autosport.com

https://i0.wp.com/img141.imageshack.us/img141/8200/209jr4.jpgQ: What happened in the pits?

Kimi Raikkonen: "We made a good pitstop and got out more or less in front of everybody else. I was side-by-side with Kubica when suddenly somebody hit me. There was a red light, but I guess some people chose not to stop. It’s a shame, a mistake from him, but there’s nothing I can change about it."

Q: What did you think of what Hamilton did?

Raikkonen: "I’m maybe not the best person to say because in the last race I made a mistake. But this is two completely different stories, you can lose control at 300kph on a circuit and hit someone, or go along on the pitlane speed limiter and don’t watch in front of you. That’s a bit silly."

Q: Was this a missed opportunity for you?

Raikkonen: "We had a good car and we were in third place. We had a bit of a problem with the left-front tyre which was beginning to grain, but we were very fast when it started to work and easily caught up the others. When the safety car came, we were more or less at the front."

Q: Hamilton admitted he did not see the red light, do you think he’ll apologise?

Raikkonen: "I’m not angry about it. He knows that there is a red light, and he should have been told by the team. It’s a shame. There were two cars side-by-side and we were stopped, so…"

Q: What do you think about Robert Kubica leading the championship?

Raikkonen: "We’ve seen that they’ve been fast all year, more or less there all the time. Now they finish one and two, when things go wrong with the guys at the front, it gives them a nice lead. I think with our car we should be able to win races and come back. It’s still early in the season, and we’re not in the strongest position right now, but we just need to start winning races again."

Q: How was the track?

Raikkonen: "It wasn’t too bad. It was breaking up, but they fixed it as well as they could, and it was better than yesterday."

Q: How significant a threat are BMW to you in the championship now?

Raikkonen: "They are scoring points all the time. Nobody can count them out. Kubica is five points ahead of Lewis and Massa and seven ahead of me."

Ironic isn’t it, how things turn out. It’s almost freaky that Kimi got hit in the butt yesterday after taking out Sutil in Monaco two weeks ago. But Kimi will come back with a vengence in France! He looked really competitive up until the accident and he has seemed to developed his way with the tyres once again and this is an encouraging thought to take away from Canada.

This picture is probably inappropriate to post on this main page, but you know what I mean. It’s pay back time! And if you want more, here’s a wallpaper sized one for your desktop

When I had read it online, I thought the media had twisted Kimi’s words about the accident. Because during ITV’s race coverage, they never spoke to Kimi and I didn’t hear anything from him until the press release came out online from Ferrari. But Kimi never said ‘stupid’ in that press release either so I thought "bloody media!". Of course, they can’t be overly critical in official press releases, but Kimi did infact call Lewis’s mistake as stupid. Here’s the video I just uploaded from ITV’s race highlights programme. It’s slightely different from what Autosport.com have written. But he’s right! Haha! I’ve written what Kimi said word for word if you want to reference it:

"I mean, okay, I’m probably not the best person to say you shouldn’t hit somebody because in the last race I made a mistake. But I understand there’s two completely different stories: when you go 300kph on the circuit and lose control and hit somebody, or if you’re going in the pitlane speed limiter and just don’t watch infront of you…so I mean, that’s bit stupid" http://www.viddler.com/simple/b67a1c69/

That Payback poster made me lol!!! I think it’s more than overdue! Thanks for the video, I saw that last night on ITV’s ‘highlights’. I was surprised that he comes across as quite animated for him. Not that I think he shouldn’t be annoyed, as he should, just interesting to see a little more emotion from him.Although we now know who is more of a man, at least Kimi had the decency to apologise to Sutil for something beyond his control, whereas the pip-squeak couldn’t even bring himself to admit it was his fault. And rear-ending two cars not even half way through one season? Methinks he needs his eyes tested. T.w.a.t.
