Kimi’s Column: Italian GP Review (Finnish)

Points Only After The Chequered Flag

It required a long job from the team so that we got our car into a good balance. Now it has been cool to drive it. As a reward we have now got five good races as foundation. It isn’t the fastest of all but you can drive into good positions with it. That’s what counts most.

Okay, of course we got to the podium by a little luck in Monza but that’s how it goes, even the small kids are taught that first you have to finish. The points will be given out only after the chequered flag.

A racing driver always drives for a victory. I can understand how Hamilton must have felt when he couldn’t stay on the track but these things just happen in these circles, sometimes to one, sometimes to another one. We finished and came in third. That was an important thing for the team’s WCC.

I had really good feelings after Monza and it was great to drive home from there. It’s good to continue to the next races from here.

In Monza almost everything fell in place. In quali we got one of the best laps this season and the start from the line hit well but then because of Hamilton I had to ease a bit. Fortunately we got past Sutil and it really decided that it was us on the podium.

It’s a weird team to look at from the mirrors all the time. I was looking at them in Spa and I was looking at them in Monza, having Force India right in my back. But it’s better to see it from the mirror than to see it from behind.

With a hard work Sutil was under control until the end.

The best feelings were at the podium. I can’t even describe it in words when I saw how fired up the Ferrari-fans were. The are really fanatic fans and they can appreciate it when we were able to give our best in that race.

The battle continues in Singapore. I can’t promise you anything from there because you only see in the practice how our car fits there. But neither Monaco or Valencia was the end of the world to us. The car seems to fit street circuits and let’s hope that the same continues in Singapore.

A couple of the last races have been on my shoulder so that we get points. We are fighting for the 3rd place in the WCC and let’s hope that Fisichella can also drive for points. It’s going to get tough when the others are still developing their car while we have the same car you’ve seen in the last races also.

Kimi reiterating and reminding us all that Ferrari has ceased development of their F60, so it’s a case of relying yet again on his talent, skills and unceasing ability to get on the podium & score points for the remaining races of the season. Let’s hope Kimi can finish 4th or even 3rd in the Driver’s Championship for himself. GO KIMI GO !!

Kimi is a fighter, he’s been fighting single-handedly all his career! If he can get 3rd in the driver’s championship (which is quite possible at the rate he is going) then I’ll be just as proud of him when I was in 2007!Ferrari maintaining 3rd in the constructors will be credit to Kimi too; the car has stopped developing. But it’s a team effort around Kimi to get those results 🙂 The actual team itself, the mechanics, they support Kimi 100% I’m sure. They’ll be even more determined to get on the podium at Singapore. Keep flying!!! 🙂

Kimi is one of the most talented drivers, he can do 100000 in a row, he can do anything if he really wants it. I’m just sad his team doesn’t (/want to) see it. I think Kimi is levelheaded in the second part of the season, probably the most levelheaded and it hurts when I read di Montezemolo’s (and domenicali’s too, but now I read montezemolo’s) comments.. He said he’s sorry that only one car could be on the podium xy times, but he’s really really happy for Felipe who is better now. It hurts me. Felipe is good, Felipe is talented, Felipe will return, Felipe will be even faster and better, when he’ll return, Felipe is FELIPE and Kimi? Kimi is just "one car" and we can’t talk about this "car’s" future because it would be "unfair"?

i don’t care what Dominecalli or Montezemolo said, because we all know Kimi is way better than Felipe,Felipe doing good because help from Schumacher(doubt he can be that good without a lot help from Schumacher), i remember F1 commentator(forgot his name) say Felipe call Schumacher more often than call his wife

ok zero, you are right. It is just hurts to read the way they think and talk about Kimi, like a "pain in their neck" and as a fan of him, it hurts me even if I don’t really care about these two.

You guys don’t have to worry, Kimi doesn’t. If Ferrari will pair him with Alonso, it will be great and we will see two champions fight with more or less equal chances. If Ferrari let him go he will either go to Brawn, which should be a competitive car, or McLaren (lee likely), where I am sure Kimi will consider himself second to none.

Yes everyone, no need to worry so much 🙂 We can’t really read too much into Ferrari and their ‘behaviour’ infront of the media, so don’t take it badly. Kimi is a grown man, he doesn’t really need the praise from the team, even if we think he deserves the credit. Felipe on the other hand…well, he’s their baby. They can say what they want to him. Won’t change the fact that Kimi’s the better driver when it actually matters 😛 so to hell with all the talk! actions speak louder than words and Kimi does his talking on track usually…whether it’s good or bad, he doesn’t lose his cool to anyone. KEEP FLYING KIMI! WOO!

Agree with u Saima Kimi is a grown man & he doesn’t need constant praises from his team and race engineer like Felipe baby 😛 in order to feel good about himself.Honestly i think Montezemolo has forgotten Kimi’s name coz he barely mentions it…her referes to him as the 2007 champ but rarely as Kimi, but can’t blame him he’s getting old and loosing memory lolll…..I bet Mont. sleep talks during his sleep and calls 4 Felipe baby and specially Alonso :PKimi will better off if he leaves Ferrari he should go either 2 Macca or Brawn, plus Ferrari aren’t as strong as they were b4 since Ross Brawn & Jean Todt left.Alonso-Massa lineup will set the prancing horse on fire and that’s what we Raikkos want….hahahaKeep Flying Kimi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Noooooo… don’t say that guys (about leaving Ferrari because they don’t appreciate Kimi). How do we know if Kimi himself isn’t pleased or happy at Ferrari? we don’t really know, until he hints at that himself. Let’s just keep cool and wait for our man instead of letting the others talk for him.

Hi to all! I agree with you Saima and i think we all need to support Kimi whatever he decide to do and that’s all. Kimi is a grown man and isn’t he THE ICE MAN?:)))))))) I don’t want to comment what Luca or Stefano sad, and all that stupid storys and rumours any more, they are soooooooooo boring. Now i’m going to stady, because i have very important exame tomorrow.

i don’t like if Kimi move to Macca just to help Hamilton and Macca to won championship like Heikki now(poor Heikki) i agree pairing Alonso & Massa will repeat what happend to Macca on 2007Ferrari always let Kimi do what he want and Kimi himself has said atmosphere in Ferrari is more relaxing

I don’t care (or just a little) if Kimi moves to McLaren or Brawn because this step would mean he’ll stay in F1. With a good team. Ok, I’d like to see him with the Ferrari but if they… well, we will see. I don’t worry bout the hamilton thing because I’m sure, Kimi is too "BIG" to act like Heikki. He would be "The Racer, The Iceman, The Best" of Mclaren again in no time and hamilton will be his slave. *what a vision*

I think it is a matter of Ferrari trying to act neutral till they officially announce their line up (which not only has to do with the rumours about Alonso but also about the state of Massa). We may be putting our own perceptions into what Montezemolo or Domenicali says. Remember also that it may not be them but the media who may be taking their words out of context and analyzing them themselves. Remember it was the same thing the other year when, contrary to what the media were saying that Alonso was moving, they actually extended Kimi’s contract!I think Ferrari didn’t start all these rumours. It all blew up when Kimi decided to go rallying (with the full support of the team) and the press assumed that Ferrari were kicking him out. Ferrari (if I recall correctly) never said they were not sure of keeping Kimi. It’s everyone else who is speculating.About Massa, if I were his boss I would also announce that I was happy if he was getting better. I am sure they would have done the same for Kimi if it had happened to him (God forbid that ever happens). I think that Montezemolo knows that Kimi is single-handedly carrying the whole team. My take with him mentioning "2007 champ" is that he wants to remind everyone that "hey, Kimi is a world champion!". Hopefully that means "why should we take him out?".You know why I’m saying this, because no matter what, Kimi looks so happy and relaxed these past weeks. It’s like the pics of the last few weeks have shown him letting his guard down and not being so stoic. I don’t think he would be like that if he wasn’t happy in the team. If he was not happy he would have been the way he is when he faces the press (all serious and monosyllabic). The only other pics I’ve seen him as relaxed as this is the pics with his friends (like when they watched the ice hockey game).Anyway, I’m so happy he got another podium and I’m also happy that finally Domenicali really praised him so much in his comments. I hope this continues till the end of the year!

hi to all, maybe i overeacted yesterday with my comment and i regret for that…The best thing is to wait and see what will happen, u are absolutely right both saima and kracer when u say that kimi looks relaxed and comfortable with the team. That should please us as his fans…i wish him the best and i hope to continue smiling as he did the past few weeks….Enough with the press and all the rumours me personally and all raikkos believe in him and i think he knows better than us what is the best for him…so if he is not worry we should not be either…keep flying kimi…………

Agree with u guys….i also think just like liamitsa i overreacted, but i only did that bcoz it makes me sad that Kimi’s effort and hard work seems unacknowledged a lot of times….however as long as he’s happy than nothing else matters and just like Saima said he’s got an excellent management team & we shouldn’t worry, they will do what’s best 4 him and his career.

I honestly don’t think that anyone overreacted. I think it just means that Kimi has the most passionate fans in the whole world…US!!! haha!I know we all love Kimi not only because he is a great racer, or that he wins, or that he is a world champion…but we still love him when we see his human side – the one that’s not perfect – when he loses, when they say he is aloof, when things are going against him…How many stars can say they have fans who love their idols when they see their idols toppled down from their pedestals because of other people or because of their own mistakes, or simply because they’re human? We all know that whether Kimi is in Ferrari or not, he WILL get a drive, and he will continue to succeed (whether he is in F1 or not) and we will be there for him all the way.We always end up saying "Keep flying, Kimi" – Maybe we should tell that to ourselves when we feel down because of others putting him down – I am sure if Kimi is reading this he will surely say as I am saying to everyone here – KEEP FLYING, KIMI FANS!!!

have you heard something about mclaren’s voice of signing a contract for 2010 for Kimi?I’ve seen him in Monza smiling on podium as never in these last months and in this season….ferrari is not the right team for him but do you think something is changed ? team is understanding him more? or a new advebnture in mc is making him smiling again? or he’s more confident after spa confrimation’s win?
