Kimi Raikkonen
scored a breathless victory for the Scuderia in the Belgian Grand Prix
just ahead of Force India’s Giancarlo Fisichella, who scored the team’s
first ever points. In a thoroughly absorbing, and sometimes chaotic race at Spa,
Raikkonen and Fisichella fought a race long-battle for the victory.

Q & A with Stefano Domenicali

Q. Speaking to Kimi Raikkonen afterwards, he said he still wanted
to be a Ferrari driver but the team would decide what it wants to
decide. So, what are your thoughts for next year, and how much is
Felipe’s recovery making your driver choice difficult for next season?

SD: No one has said anything different from the team point of
view. This is a lot of speculation. I really hope that you people keep
writing that, because if this is Kimi’s reaction then please do it day
and night. It is important to understand the situation and I don’t
think it is a point of discussion that we need to start today. That is
the answer.

Q. Kimi’s performance today was very good, but how would you describe it yourself?

SD: Very good. Very quick. We always said that there are
certain moments on the race that are crucial, and we discuss before. We
knew that the start is crucial and with KERS it was important to be on
that position on the first lap. He did a great race. He was fantastic
and he was pushing like hell every lap and I think he deserved it. I am
very happy for him.

Ferrari Team QuotesKimi Raikkonen – 1st: "A great victory for me and
the team. The champagne tastes the same wherever you are on the podium,
but the feeling when you win is definitely different. This track has
everything a driver could want and it’s a pleasure to drive here,
however, there’s no particular secret to explain why I’ve won here four
times. We wanted to win at least one race and we’ve done it. Our car
was not the best in the pack, but we managed to put everything together
and this result comes from all the work done with the team. I got away
well, but Rubens was stuck in front of me and I had to avoid him. Then,
at the first corner and at the end of the straight, I managed to move
up to second. Behind the Safety Car, I thought mainly about keeping the
tyres and brakes up to temperature to be able to attack Fisichella at
the restart, and that’s how I managed to pass him quite easily. At the
first pit stop, maybe it would have been better to stay with the softer
tyre but that’s easy to say afterwards. In the final part, when it
seemed I might not be able to fight off Giancarlo, I slightly changed
the way I used the KERS so as to defend myself on the straight at
Stavelot and so I managed to stay in front. Monza will be difficult,
because our car is not particularly good over the kerbs, but we will
try and do our best."

Chris Dyer: "A fantastic result for the team and
for Kimi. After qualifying, we knew that we could have a good race if
we got a good start. Kimi was fantastic, both on the first lap and then
at the restart after the race was neutralised and he managed to take
the lead. Fisichella was always right behind him and congratulations
also to him for his performance. He and Kimi always pitted together and
our guys managed on both occasions to send our driver out on track
ahead of his closest rival. In the middle stint, we used the harder
tyre but, with hindsight, we might have done better to pick the softer
one: not only could we not open the gap over Giancarlo but we then had
Vettel closing us down. Fortunately, at the second stop, the positions
remained unchanged and Kimi did a good job of managing the situation in
the closing laps. Today, the F60 was not the best car, but the team
work and the talent of the driver produced the win and that’s what
counts."

Post-Race Press Conference

Q. Kimi, your fourth victory here in Spa. It has been a difficult season for the team but today you proved a point.

Kimi RAIKKONEN: Yes, I mean it hasn’t been an easy year for
us. We were behind straight away in the first race compared to the top
teams and we made a big step in Barcelona but it still has not been
enough and for sure we have not brought new parts to the car for a few
races as we are really putting an effort into next year. I mean getting
the win now, it’s quite a long time since the last one, so it was
perfect. My aim was to win at least one race and try to keep third
place in the championship, so this is going to help us a lot but I
needed a bit of effort today to get the win. We probably were not the
fastest in the lap times but overall we were fastest and we managed to
keep everybody behind, so that’s enough. It is great for the team and
hopefully we can get some good results after this race. I always do
well here; we will see what we can do in the last part of the season.

Q. Kimi, the key really was that pass on Giancarlo after the
restart on lap five. Talk us through how you lined up Giancarlo and
passed him.

KR: I knew that we needed to get past him as more or less we
were on the same lap coming in and if I hadn’t done after the safety
car they had too much speed to get it after that. I just made sure I
was close enough after the first corner and then went behind him as
close as I could through Eau Rouge. I got quite a lot of understeer and
ran a bit wide on top of the hill but then once I used the KERS I was
able to get next to him and just in front of him, so it was pretty easy
in that way to get in front of him. I knew then as long as we don’t
make silly mistakes, we should be ok for the race.

Q. Kimi, sum up this love affair you have with this magnificent
Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Four times a winner here. What is it about
this place and you?

KR: I don’t think there has been any special thing.
Unfortunately last year we lost it in the last lap more or less. I
think many drivers like it. It is a proper circuit. An old style
circuit, very flowing and up and down hills, and it is good fun to
drive. It is in the forest and it is just everything what you want.
Usually I have always been pretty very good here since I was here the
first time many, many years ago. It just seems to be good for me
somehow. I don’t mind. It is a nice place to win. Also we get very good
races here. It is good for spectators, for teams, for drivers. It has
been a pretty good weekend. Of course yesterday we could have done
better to make out life a bit easier but anyhow we managed to win which
is the main thing. It is good right now and we try to keep it up for
the next races.

Q. Kimi, what does this win mean to you personally after quite a difficult season?

KR: We have been trying to get it. Of course we need to be
realistic as we know that our car is not as fast as the teams ahead of
us in the championship, but in some places, like the last couple of
circuits, it has been pretty okay. In Hungary we were closer to winning
that ever before this year. Here we managed to do it. It really depends
on the circuit. This is important for the team, they will enjoy it,

especially after the hard time this year. But we can’t expect to win
races after races, so we are going to give 100 per cent every weekend
but it really depends if we get it 100 per cent right or not and if
something funny happens, like here in qualifying. It gives us a much
better chance but it was a good result for the team and we are very
happy.

Q. How much pressure did you feel with Giancarlo right up behind you?

KR: I knew that he was faster. Probably we did a little
mistake to put on the harder tyres at the first pit stop and they just
did not warm up and maybe like three laps before the stop they suddenly
started to work much better. I was able to push harder. I knew that if
I could keep him behind at the pit stop it is pretty difficult for him
to get past. They were very fast in the middle sector, coming back to
the last chicane. Sometimes they got very close but I just started to
use the KERS in a slightly different way to make sure he was not going
to get a run on me and it was not so difficult. I mean it is hard to
overtake anyhow, so it was very easy.

Q. At the first corner you were the only driver that went wide. Was that something that you had discussed with the team?

KR: No, first I tried to go the normal way but I think it was
Nick or somebody who came a bit too fast inside and pushed Jarno Trulli
very wide, so I had nowhere to go. I just needed to turn straight and
go all the way around. It worked out but it wasn’t the plan in the
first place but there was no space.

Q. Were you able to use the KERS perhaps earlier?

KR: No, I mean it is very bumpy there. I ended up there also
last year. It doesn’t make much difference. It is a much longer way. If
I could go on the circuit I would but if it would be fast I’d try to do
it every lap but that was not the case.

Q. What about your chances at Monza?

KR: It will be difficult. Our car is not as strong as some
others over the kerbs and that is really the key to go fast there. To
be able to drive the kerbs as much as you want, that is not our
strongest point, so it will be difficult I think but we will see how
our car will handle there and what we can do.

Q. (Alberto Antonini – Autosprint) Kimi, well done. You said
Ferrari hasn’t brought many new parts to the last races but you’ve
still taken two podium finishes and a win. Could that be you and not
the car?

KR: I guess everybody can decide for themselves. We found a
bit of a different way for the car. We started going a bit of a
different way at the start of the year and then came back in the
previous races. For sure, the car is not as quick as we want, as maybe
it should be, but it’s handling well, and that sometimes gives much
more than you can drive – when you can drive it as you want, it
sometimes gets you in a better position. I’m happy with the way it
works, but with more downforce I’m pretty sure it could be a very fast
car, but we know that we’re not really getting any new parts, so we are
where we are and as long as we get everything working well and the car
feels good, I think we can still manage to get good results. It’s
difficult to expect more wins but hopefully (we can expect) podiums and
good points and maybe in some circumstances a win.

Q. (Heikki Kulta – Turun Sanomat) Kimi, could you have won
without KERS and where was it the most important, when you took the
lead or when you were defending?

KR: There’s no point in wondering if we could have won
(without KERS) or not. We won and we have KERS at every race and that’s
a fact. It helped at the start. I actually got a very good start, but
then there was Barrichello – I don’t know what happened to him at the
start, so it already helped there and then passing Robert, I think, and
then of course, it helped to pass Fisichella. It worked well for us,
but it’s a normal thing for us to use it at every race, so it’s not
like it’s going to disappear suddenly.

Q. (Ottavio Daviddi – Tuttosport) Kimi, there are a lot of
rumours about Giancarlo as your next team-mate, as you know. May I have
your opinion about him?

KR: For me, it doesn’t matter who is in the second car, it’s
not my decision. For sure the team will decide on whatever happens for
the next race. But if I purely look at this race, they probably had a
faster car than us, so it’s probably a bit of a difficult decision in
that way.

Q. (Juha Päätalo – Financial Times Deutschland) Kimi, you said
that you changed the way how you use KERS to defend. Can you explain
what you did exactly?

KR: I was using more in the last part than before, just to
make sure I got good speed on the back straight. That was the only
difference.

Q. (Paulo Ianieri – La Gazzetta dello Sport) Kimi, it looks like
you are somehow giving Ferrari a hard time, considering all the rumours
about next year, because it was said that you might leave Ferrari
because you’re not performing as well now. Lately, you’ve been doing
pretty well. Is there something inside of you that is bringing you to
this, showing that the real Räikkönen is still there?

KR: No. Nothing has changed, as I said. We found a pretty
good way to work with the car. We did well in Monaco. The last race was
very similar, Hungary was similar. This place is a bit different than
many others. It’s purely that where the car has been strong we’ve been
doing quite well every time. There’s nothing that I’ve done
differently. We’ve just achieved a good result now and hopefully we can
keep it up. I think there will be races where it’s not going to be easy
for us but we can always try. There have been rumours almost every year
since I’ve been in Formula One, so I don’t really care about them. I’m not worried about next year. I have a contract, so
it’s nothing that I should be worried about. I don’t make the decisions
in the end but we will see what happens. Maybe Ferrari have some other
plans, but as far as I know nothing has changed.

Q. (Michael Schmidt – Auto Motor und Sport) Kimi, according to
the fuel weights, you should have been able to go at least two laps
longer than Giancarlo. Giancarlo mentioned before that he was saving
fuel behind the safety car but I guess you did the same, so why did you
come in on the same lap?

KR: I don’t know. It’s difficult to say. Some engines use a
bit more fuel than others. I think our engine probably uses a bit more
fuel than the Renaults or McLarens. Maybe that’s the one difference. I
tried to get my tyres warmed up quite heavily behind the safety car, so
I definitely didn’t try to save as much as we could. But it paid off,
we got first place after the safety car and that counts much more than
one lap on a pit stop.

Q. (Joonas Partanen – Iltalehti) Kimi, it has been almost a year
and a half since you last won, so did the champagne taste better on the
podium compared to those times you were second and third, and then
another question: some people have suggested that you won’t cut your
hair until you have won again, so are you going to cut it now?

KR: No, it’s nothing to do with that. There’s always
speculation in Formula One and b****t as we know. It doesn’t change
anything. It’s the same stuff. When you’re first or second or third, it
makes no difference what is in the bottle, but of course the feeling is
nicer overall. It’s good for the team and good for me, so in that way
it’s nice.

KIMI RAIKKONEN – THE KING OF SPA!

https://i0.wp.com/img27.imageshack.us/img27/5543/evenstarsays.png IT’S OFFICIAL PEOPLE! THEY MAY AS WELL RENAME BOTH THE LES COMBES AND POUHON CORNER THE KIMI AND THE RAIKKONEN!

The start of the 2009 Belgian Grand Prix has made up for the whole season for me. I’m sure every single one of you know what I’m talking about! It was an eye-candy thrill-ride. That term is a special one for Kimi made by a Kimi fan named Soren which occured after the Hungarian GP and has caught onto my lips too. This in itself shows how much Kimi is still supported and admired by his fans who have literally stuck together through the good and bad times. So, go and celebrate my fellow Raikkos! Our man surely has made it clear that he is the best of them all when it comes to racing through Eau Rouge, with win number 4 at Spa-Francorchamps. Congratulations Kimi, you were amazing.

It’s been a while since I’ve found the courage and motivation to write my thoughts here after every race. This season hasn’t been easy, first of all on the track, and then off the track we’ve had the press on Kimi’s back. "It hasn’t been easy," to quote Kimi. But today’s victory is very special, and it definately outweighs the bad times this season. Kimi’s scored his third consecutive podium today, his fourth of the season, but most importantly he has scored in his own desire which was to win atleast one race this year. Has he proved a point? To us, no. But he has proved to the critics and haters that he hasn’t lost his game and he is still a world champion. He has shut up the haters I hope. I can hear a very loud silence now and hopefully Kimi can enjoy the silence too.

The whole weekend has been special. I’m totally speechless so I’m trying very hard to write something here! The race start was an instant repeat of 2008, and Kimi looked like he was in a completely different car to the rest. With such aggression, courage and speed, he made the rest of the grid look like it was their first time at Spa. He knew he was going to win this race, he said he had a very good chance yesterday. From 6th on the grid, it wouldn’t have seemed so. And when Barrichello stalled at the start, Kimi was more than ready to face any challenge and that was the first one – avoid the stalled car right infront of you! From the word go, Kimi was on fire. The run up to La Source was the moment I’ve been waiting for all year – Kimi kept on the outside and in 2008 fashion went wide onto the run-off area and floored his Ferrari away from potential carnage. And I’m sure Kimi was the most desperate driver in the field to fly up Eau Rouge because he was already up into 3rd position and the moment of truth arrived so soon – Kimi was going to pass everyone in his way no matter what.

Again, in similar fashion to 2008 with Massa infront, he was ready to attack 2nd place man Kubica and the BMW driver certainly made it harder for Kimi than Massa did. Kubica kept with Kimi just into the braking point for Les Combes and Kimi was forced to brake later than he planned. Kimi ran slightly wide onto the grass and Kubica luckily braked quick enough to avoid crashing into Kimi, but a piece from Kubica’s front wing seemed to have hit Kimi and flew off. My heart was about to explode at this moment, fearing that Kimi’s great start was to end with a tyre puncture. But it was not so! Kimi escaped serious damage and carried on ahead. Cars further behind at Les Combes ended up in a chaos, as the rookies Grosjean and Alguesauri crashed into Button and Hamilton, who were completely innocent so a very bad moment for them. What a great start to the race for Kimi though and watching all this at once is definately a caused me to be out of breath. THANKS FOR THAT KIMI!

Safety car came out for a few laps and I’m sure every Kimi fan needed it. I think we all would have collasped otherwise, which such adrenalin. I think Kimi needed the break himself! He was flying and I feared he might over-do it. Safety car came back in and Kimi was close enough to Fisichella to even pass him into La Source. But Kimi decided to give a miss into T1 and anticipated his move over Eau Rouge. I mean, what kind of mad man would want to overtake ON Eau Rouge? Kimi Raikkonen of course. He was so close behind Fisichella over Eau Rouge that Kimi had to lift off the throttle (which he never does) to avoid touching him! Oh my word. So Kimi had Fisichella in the bag at the top of the hill too. And just like after Japan 2005, I’m sure Fisichella will continue having nightmares about the Raikkonen.

Kimi was leading. Oh joy, such joy. I was already spent, so much excitement and tension and adrenalin all used up at once. I’m going to the Belgian Gp next year and I know where I’ll be standing! You could hear a huge roar from the crowds when Kimi took the lead. Epic.

Fischella in the Force India had incredible pace. He clearly was fast enough, even faster, to stay with Kimi for every single lap of the race. Literally. Both Kimi and Fisichella pitted on the same lap, and the race was transfered from track to pits. Kimi remained infront, with Fisichella exiting his box right after Kimi passed him. Uh oh. It looked like a tough race for the Ferrari. The Ferrari was never fast enough to maintain a big enough gap to the Force India, yet Kimi kept that thing infront. He was constantly under pressure. This race at Spa was one Kimi had to fight hard for, harder than 2005, 2007, 2008 and perhaps even harder than 2004. Because it really is harder to be chased than to be the one chasing.

The sun continued shining and the was no threat of rain. This was a big relief to us, after the nightmare we had last year.  The final pitstop fight was again close, Kimi and Fisichella pitting together and even pitting for the same time – 7.1secs. It was so close, and Ferrari did a brilliant team effort in the pits to ensure Kimi got out safe and quick and ahead of Fisichella.

Kimi was flying as he never flied before. I’m 100% positive that this year Kimi really was on his limit at Spa, he had to push and use every inch of the circuit to keep the lead and take the win. And I’m very jealous but extremely happy for the fans who were at the circuit today to witness this talent, especially Marilyne (from France), Ozge (from Germany) and Sipio (from Holland) at our forum. Cherish it forever guys, you witnessed the return of the King of Spa!

The final few laps seemed to take much longer than the whole rce itself. Kimi finally approached the final few corners and the fans were screaming and honking their horns. Crossing the line felt so sweet. Sometimes it shocks me how much emotion was involved in this weekend, in support of a man who most say has no feelings and hardly smiles. Kimi’s passion is in his driving and once he steps outside of it – he’s back to earth again. Kimi rolled into parc ferme and he looked exhausted as he unbuckled himself to stand up. I could sense a big sigh of relief, but mainly it was a big sigh of pleasure, like Kimi just ate the best meal of his life with an ice cold Vodka to end it. Kimi looked quite emotional to me. I was too emotional to even clap or cheer for him because if I did I’d be crying as well anyway. It felt so damn good.

So how did Kimi win? The
KERS did help Kimi win, of course, but it was NOT the reason he won
like all the F1 headlines are saying. Kimi won at Spa with his heart.
You can see the proof of this from the race start, Kimi didn’t use KERS till after Eau Rouge but he was hell bent onto getting into the right position, beginning from T1 at La Source where he took the safe and clear run-off route before going up to the hill. Force
India have done a super job to even fight for the win, but their
success shouldn’t shadow Kimi’s amazing ability, which he did all by himself.

Fisichella did a superb job keeping under a second close
to Kimi, but Ferrari are lucky that Kimi was driving this Ferrari
because anyone
else in his seat would’ve come 3rd or below (hint, hint).
No driver could’ve worked that Ferrari to perfection like Kimi did, at
Spa, and under such pressure. Kimi had the 3rd fastest lap, proof the
Ferrari wasn’t fast enough.
Ferrari’s
realistic goal for this weekend was for a podium finish, yes they have KERS but KERS doesn’t give you the raw pace. Kimi drove with everything he had and that bit extra more. It was Kimi’s
goal to win the race and he succeeded. And for this alone, I am so proud of Kimi. It was the greatest performance of the race, with big commiserations to Fisichella and Vettel worked hard for that third place.

And on that bombshell, after an explosion of a Kimi-style-race, see you in Monza.

P.S There will be a highlight video for Valencia and Belgium, these have been two great back-to-back races for Kimi, so stay tuned!

Hail to the King of Spa!!! I was going to suggest they name the Spa circuit after Kimi! OK, I know that’s an outrageous fantasy, more so than yours, Saima, but what a start and flawless drive from Kimi. On it 100% the entire 44 laps, with Fisi tailing him less than a second behind in the end. I can’t be happier for all us supporters, and especially for Kimi. Did anyone notice how quickly Kimi turned away from Stefano after they hugged ?? I couldn’t help but feel the comments by Stefano lately seemed to carry double meaning when referring to Kimi…is that why you haven’t been posting his statements in your site, Saima ?Given the shocking year that Ferrari and the F60 is experiencing, Kimi has been the 1st Ferrari driver to score points of the season, first to Qualify on the front row, first to be on the podium, and now the first to win….yet who are they kicking out next year ??!! Well! All I can say is that Kimi can now take his talent elsewhere with his head held high. He’s done the best that any world champion can ever do in an underperforming car. Go Kimi!… and no matter which team you end up next season, we’ll be here to support you!!

Can’t wait 4 the video Saima, hope that your PC is now ok. The King of Spa has been perfect throughout the 44 laps and his victory is even more amazing if we bear in mind that the F India was quicker than the lazy F60. The way he overtook Fisi & Hiedfeld was intense as both drivers gave great resistance but King of Spa was to determined to show Ferrari who’s the best. A shame 4 Ferrari that a F India is much quicker than the F60!!! Congrats to all Kimi fans, u r the best. Thx Saima, ur Kimi fansite is the best….

Well DONE KIMI!And Hello guys, I have been reading this forum for quite a long now. All the time I wanted to say something, but I did n`t.Was waiting for the right moment and here it is!I was shivering through out the race. Wow, that was awesome! The La Source Lap incident nearly took my heart out, running wide out of turn 1. Brilliant catch i must say, and actually he got 2 places by running wide. LOL! :DThen the move on Kubica at the end of kemmel straight. Woop! Awesome. Then I nearly had my hear stopped when kimi ran wide at turn 5 and Kubica hit me. All mess followed which took puttonen off. ;)I was shouting "in the pits"! "in the pits"! coz i though he had damaged his rear tyre and may be rear wing. But he stayed out. I was asking my sis about whether the thing came out was from Ferrari. I was not sure. But she was too busy trying to Find Fisi. LOL. :PAfter the safety car got in, that was it! Again La Source got my heart out when both were so so close! Then that shot through Eau Rouge behind Fisi! Wow, He had it covered coming out of it and nearly touched Fisi when he pressed the KERS button again.Sorry for repeating the commentary. But really this one was very very special for me. :DFYI, I only started watching F1 on 2006 and that too not every race. Sorry Guys, But I used to hate Kimi only because he used to give my fav Schumi great challenge. :)When Schumi left, I wondered for whom i should watch F1. Yeah, I found Kimi then. :PAfter the mess of 08 and the speculations in 09, I was really getting frustrated. He got through this time and got hat-trick of Podiums! It`s actually festive time here at Mumbai, India. And i really wished this gift and this luck. Thank You God!Thank You KIMI! Happiest Day of 2009! And I want more!Again I hope I`m accepted here. :)Take Care Guys! Keep up the Great Work Kimi and you too, Saima.P.S: I hope to see big video this time and not 10 mins one. 🙂

I could n`t understand Stefano meant with this.Q. Speaking to Kimi Raikkonen afterwards, he said he still wanted to be a Ferrari driver but the team would decide what it wants to decide. So, what are your thoughts for next year, and how much is Felipe’s recovery making your driver choice difficult for next season?SD: No one has said anything different from the team point of view. This is a lot of speculation."""" I really hope that you people keep writing that, because if this is Kimi’s reaction then please do it day and night. """"

Great words Saima. Brilliant job! And more than brilliant job by Kimi 😀 He can win at Spa in any situation and even in a crap car like the F60. Eyecandy Thrillride yeah!! Soren can always come up with something new and delightful to describe Kimi’s drive and it feels so perfect lol. I enjoyed this race as every other fan of Kimi would have. The race was obviously epic but the moments after the race, there were all kinds of emotions springing up and it was hard to think or control anything. It’s been so long, but there is no better place to end this jinx than at Spa :)Actually Trixie I think the track should be renamed Spa-Raikkochamp in Kimi’s honour 😉

Undoubtedly the best gift of birthday of my life.At the beginning of the season I was speaking with my friends that the car was a shit but that Kimi would win at least in Spa, and I succeeded, but I believe that he still has another race more to win.THE REAL CHAMPIONS KEEP SILENT ABOUT THE MOUTH WINNING, AND KIMI LIKE THAT DID IT.Big Kimi, great victory great race!!!!!I left here my web page, I opened it does a couple of days. Saima, I love reading your reviews! They sum up the action and the emotions felt by every fan so perfectly! I can honestly say that all my adrenalin was used just in the space of two hours- I was shaking for the whole race! Kimi didn’t need to prove anything to me today- I know that he is the best guy out there. He drove an absoloutly stunning race.Although this win was much needed for Kimi himself, I felt all of his fans needed it too! At the beginning of the season- or the Spanish GP, for example- I just turned the tele off when his car failed on him, I just felt so depressed! But now, I cannot wait for the next Grand Prix, where I have positive feelings, which replace the skepticism i felt before!Although Kimi doesn’t show much emotion on the podium- I know he is probably screaming and shouting on the inside- and so was I !! lolLET THIS BE THE BEGINNING OF GOOD LUCK FOR KIMI- he deserves it!Can’t wait to watch your highlight videos Saima!Keep Flying Kimi!!Keep Flying Saima!!

A well-done and emotional review Saima. You summed-up the feelings of Kimi’s fans, who never give up to see him winning esp with the difficult car this season. Winning in SPA is really sweet as many of his fans have wished for many weeks ago and Kimi has not disappointed us.Can’t wait for your back-to-back video Saima! It’s indeed a breathless race, I wasn’t able to sit still yesterday until the chequered flag is waved. Kimi proved that he is the King of Spa!!! Very proud of him and he showed to his team that he’s still the best driver (who’s given a crap car).I like Chris Dyer’s comment, recognising the team’s effort and driver’s talent for the win! Did Ferari only realise it today???Kimi may not show much emotions at the podium, but we can all see him smiling; Steve Dawson from Star Sport also commented "that at last we can see Kimi smiling" hmmmm LOL, this is b’coz you never pay attention! Didn’t they see all those photos of Kimi showing happy moods, etc??? May Spa be the beginning of success for Kimi!! We always believe in you and Keep Flying Kimi!!!

This is a must-read about Kimi’s mechanics praising him, article translation courtesy of Wolfie:===============================PRAISES FROM THE ENGINEERSTurun Sanomat 30.8 2009 23:18:31A year ago Kimi Räikkönen’s race engineer was Chris Dyer. Now his closest work mate is Andrea Stella.Kimi won 8 GP’s with Dyer. Belgium brought the first bull’s eye with Stella.– The good results from the last 3 races have firstly and mostly come through Kimi’s magnificent driving, Dyer praised to Turun Sanomat.Stella was blissfully happy. What did Kimi say in the team radio when he crossed the finish line?– ‘Thank you everyone. Great day.’, Stella told. Was this a perfect day for Räikkönen’s team?– In order to have a perfect day we should have the fastest car on the track. We can win although the car isn’t the fastest car and we have succeeded in the last races despite having it.– We can have our hands on the prizes against the faster ones only if we succeed in everything and the leading car has some kind of problems. I think that it’s especially Kimi who has made the difference in these last races in our favour. How surprising was it to race for the victory against Force India?– It wasn’t a surprise after what we saw in the qualification. The biggest surprise was what they showed already in Friday practice. But it’s hard for anybody to pass when Kimi is driving in the lead, Stella said. What was the most crucial moment in the race?– When Kimi had passed Fisichella we put hard tyres that seemed to work for others. It didn’t suit us and after that we only tried to minimise the problem. The biggest concern was Sebastian Vettel but then he came in earlier than we expected. If he would have continued for 3 more laps he would had been the biggest threat for our victory.– Kimi gave all he had when the car was sliding a lot. A little traction but we could minimise the damages. Will the row of podiums continue in Monza?– It’s more difficult there because our car’s performance level is not at the top. We will get on the podium only if the others don’t get the best out of their car.Turun Sanomat, SpaHEIKKI KULTA========================

I guess this is the sweetiest & most meaningful victory for Kimi & fans after his win Brazil 2007 & the painful memory in Spa last year. I’m still very emotion, tears in my eyes when recall all this moments. Kimi’s performance has been amazing in the last 3 races, his F60 created magic results in his hands. This is really unbelievable. I’m so happy for him. I believe he has found some solution to deal with his car. So lets see what happen in the last 5 races. He will do his best for sure 🙂

HA! HA! Good one, Awadhesh – you should be at the renaming of the Spa circuit to Spa-Raikkochamp!…in fact, we should ALL be there when Kimi gets that honour. Wouldn’t that be unbelievable! In my books, Kimi has won Spa 5 times because last year’s results were farcical, when Hamilton declared winner on the day, but subsequently disqualified and Massa got promoted to the win when he clearly was nowhere compared to Kimi. But that’s now history and today, we re-live another of Kimi’s great achievements.I was tired at work all day having stayed up till 2am this morning when the race finished close to midnite our time, then watched the race again on normal Ch10. Now I read the Q&A with Stefano D on Autosport and it’s got me fired up again ! He was asked about his emotions on the victory, and his reply was to thank everyone at Maranello, the track, the suppliers….then he goes on to "gift" the win to Luca de M as a b’day present, continues to dedicate the win to Felipe, the tifosi and the entire Ferrari family! Why did he stop there ?! What about thanking his Father, his Mother, maybe God as well…hey, maybe even Schuey for his attempted comeback/for not being there!! Funny, but I didn’t read a "thank you" to Kimi for driving 110% the entire 44 laps and making it all happen!! Anyway, can’t wait for the photos and your usual amazing videos, Saima.

I totally agree with u guys about Domenicali but to be honest we shouldn’t be surprise by his comments it’s pretty obvious that the big bosses at Ferrari don’t care or appreciate Kimi anymore, not that they ever did before… but you can see that the Ferrari staff do (mechanics, engineers…) from their nice comments about him.Domenicali is so dumb he probably hasn’t realised how bad the F60 is and that without Kimi’s dedication and hard work they wouldn’t have managed to get the 3 last podium finishes not even in their wildest dreams.@Trixie… ur comments about Domen. thank yous were hilarious u’re right he should have continued thanking his mom, wife, kids, dog, neighboors, Felipe even Alonso and Santander but not Kimi bcoz he wasn’t driving the car no not at all it was driving itself…. and who said Kimi and we his fans wanna dedicate the victory to the Tifosi who havn’t been nice to Kimi at all and to Felipe, are we gonna keep on dedicating every good result for the rest of the season to him??? (don’t get me wrong i’m happy he’s doing great but honestly have had enough of him…always favoritism toward Felipe Baby but never Kimi).I don’t know about the rest of you Raikkos but i don’t want Kimi to stay at Ferrari next season even if they want to keep him, i hope from the bottom of my heart that his management team convince him to go elsewhere mostly Mclaren who have always respected him and tried their best to keep him after 2006 and there’s been lots of rumors linking Kimi to a Mclaren comeback and also Haug and Whitmarsh have been really nice to him lately and i can’t help but wonder whether they might be thinking of bringing Kimi back (i really hope so *dreams*).Think about it Raikkonen-Hamilton and Mclaren against Alonso-Massa and Ferrari i would die to see that and see the Mclaren crew kick Ferrari’s ass 😛 lol!!!!Once again congrats to Iceman and to all of u true Kimi fans out there who have stuck together through the difficult times…see u all at Monza for another great result 🙂

@kiki, yeah I agree with your point of view about ferrari’s adventure for Kimi. on one hand I’d like to see him in red another year for all haters and bad voices about him-as Evenstar write, now there’s silence about him – and for all people that had never wanted him in ferrari. I’m italian and I assure you all that be a Kimi’s supporter is really hard. lots of people don’t like him and newspapers are happy to underline his problems or his character -that I don’t really understand why it’s so hard to be read by anyone. so another year to let all see who is Kimi, could be the right thing on one hand, expecially beacause Kimi has got a contract so it’ right for the team to let him stay. Kimi is not a second chance, Kimi is regular! but mclaren was always a part of Kimi, a very deep part of his style and a team that had never fought him. in ferrari most of glory is not for Kimi and last season it’s a proof. they tried to let massa win and the result was the one that you all know. and in this season the team seems to be determined to do the same but they can’t. Kimi is KIMI and there’s no one better than him. he’s carrying the season, without him ferrari could not have done so much in these last races. and expecially in Spa. Kimi fights everytime so hard and yesterday yes, he was on fire!SUBLIME!

@Trixie, Kiki & Pernilla-agreed with your comments re Domens. It’s really not fair of him congratulating everybody in Ferrari, but not to the greatest driver himself!! Weird, even McLarens (Heikki, Washman & Houg) congratulated Kimi! But it’s ok, if the team doesn’t appreciate Kimi, his fans do!!! Even my hubby who is supporting BMW commented that Ferrari will lost a lot of fans if they drop Kimi! Kimi’s fans will definitely follow everywhere he goes, even if he switch to rallying!I still didn’t get enough with Sunday’s amazing race and watched it again yesterday. It was a holiday in Malaysia as it was our Independence Day; my son, Aiman and I spent our afternoon watching the replay at Star Sport. Hi guys! i just wanna say, let SD say whatever crap he wanna say….to me, all he think of is money and the media attention towards the ferrari team..it’s clear to me that he preferred felipe cause he’s brazilian or whatsoever reason that exists, and he maybe doesn’t like Kimi cause he’s finnish and doesn’t gives shit about things….when felipe got a podium place or win, he praise him like hell but when Kimi gave them three consecutive podiums including a WIN, which is obviously not easy without the driver’s big talent, he gave him what? i can say nothing! well, screw you domenicalli! go praise everybody out there as you want except kimi, cause we raikkos appreciate him much more than anybody else do!!! and if Kimi is out of ferrari next year, then good cause i’d rather see him in a team that respect and appreciate him in every way…though i honestly think kimi doesn’t really care about these things..but i do!!! he deserves that!anyways, i still think kimi will be in ferrari next year, cause i don’t think felipe could drive next year with his injury, and i would love to see kimi and nano in ferrari fighting against each other, but i don’t really think it’s possible to have two world champions in a team like ferrari cause one would have to be a second fiddle to another, but anything can happen in f1.p/s: i know i might be repeating some of what you guys said, but i can barely keep it to myself, i have to let it out!!! i feel better…and sorry for my bad english@Fazie: Selamat Berpuasa!!!!

Hey guys i think we all need to relax and enjoy this moment of glory let’s forget about Domenicali, Ferrari, Alonso and the rest of the world, screw them all… Kimi proved them wrong and showed everyone who’s the real champ and that the "motivation" thing was nothing but crap invented by them.I know i said we need to let it go but i read an article about Alonso that made me loose my head the article under the title "Defiant Fernando Alonso vows to win 3rd F1 title" in which he speaks the same boring stuff and says he doesn’t know where he’s going next year (liar :P)………. but the irritating part in it is when he says: "I know other racers drive, then pick up their bags and head home,… I definitely don’t.” What the hell??!! is it me or is he pointing out at Kimi? what an asshole plus he sounds like a baby he always does anyway, lamenting about his misfortunes & not having a competitive car… he surely hasn’t learn anything from Schumi who never trashed his team in public and always had discussions with them behind closed doors.Nano is always looking for people’s sympathy i might be wrong but i don’t think he has more fans than Kimi but totally the opposite…. well maybe Santander can buy them for him next year ;)Looking forward for the Valencia GP highlights on wedn. and the best one for Spa on sat. by the way Saima the pics are amazing… fantastic job as usual, well done i totally appraciate ur hard work and dedication u’re just like Kimi a hard worker who never gives up no wonder u’re such a huge fan u too have so much in common.Cheers to you all 😀

What an amazing performance from Kimi! I knew that if there is one track he could be victorious, it would be Spa and so he did. Winning the Belgian GP 4 times; only Senna and Schumi have more victories there. Another good review Selma, you always surprise me with your knowledge of F1 and from that perspective it’s not weird Raikkonen is your fave…my gf thinks you just have a major crush on Kimi tho ;)This circuit is all about bravery and skills, Kimi truly is something special. Wanna listen to what Kimi has to mumble before the race go to this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lK52SetqHWg 1 uur geleden | Verwijderen

My favorite team was the McLaren’s. Ron Dennis and the team liked Kimi and they were proud of him. Their cars were the most unreliable but they liked Kimi as Kimi. As a finnish guy. As the "Iceman". Or at least it seemed that way. When the rumours have started that Kimi will move to the Ferrari, I was a bit shocked. I get used to him as a McLaren driver and I couldn’t imagine him in red with an italian team. But I get used to the new situation, too and I have to admit, he looks great in red. He looked happy, he was successful, he became champion with his new team in the first season. I remember how Jean Todt hugged him on the podium with immense pride and a big smile on his face. But now.. sometimes it seems Kimi is just unwanted for the team. It doesn’t matter if he is on the podium or not, they don’t look happy for him. I just don’t understand why Felipe or Alonso "better" than Kimi. Kimi is calm. Kimi never complaining. Kimi is not hysterical. Okay, he is not a mediterranean Jose Armando from a soap opera but damn, they had to know this when they expend the contract with him in 2008… I was sad when I heard the Ferrari-Alonso rumours but if Kimi wants to stay in F1 with an other team in the future, as he hinted it, then I don’t mind if he will leave the Ferrari team. I’d rather see Kimi as hamilton’s teammate than stay with a team which doesn’t appreciate him.
