Domenicali Praises Kimi’s Talent at Monaco

From Autosport.com

Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali admitted he was very happy to see Kimi Raikkonen back on form at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Finn, who has not won a race in over a year, finished on the
podium for the first time since last year’s Brazilian Grand Prix.

He also came close to securing his first pole position of the year, but was beaten by Jenson Button by just 0.025 seconds.

Domenicali said he was delighted to see Raikkonen show the kind of form that helped him take the title in 2007.

The Italian also claimed Ferrari is now on the right track following a poor start to the season.

"We’re heading in the right direction, which is very important after
the first part of this very difficult championship," said Domenicali.
"The positive signs we’ve seen at Barcelona have been confirmed at
Monaco.

"I’m particularly happy for Kimi, he had a wonderful weekend: he
missed the pole by a blink of the eye and in the race he might have
done better, if there hadn’t been the problem during his second
pitstop.

"On a track where talent is important Kimi has shown what he is able to do."

You said it Domenicali. I didn’t notice that he had a problem in the second pit stop- i just thought it was a bit longer than normal. But i would love to see him do even better in the next two races, it would be epic to see him win at the British Grand Prix (i’ll be there woooo!)

To us fans, Kimi has always been on form ! It’s the car that usually lets him down. Anyway, I’m proud to see that Kimi’s the first to score points for Ferrari and the first to be on the podium for the red team after a very difficult start to the 2009 season. Kimi couldn’t wait to pop the champers after such a long thirsty spell between podiums! Cheers KIMI !! Bring on the bubblies for the rest of the season !

I’m very happy with the F60, it’s enabled Kimi to show he hasn’t ‘lost it’. Of course we never doubted his capability and motivation for a second, but all that is linked to the car. Just compare the 2007 and 2008 Monaco GPs to this year’s race. Kimi looked far more comfortable and smoother around the circuit, as he naturally is (in 2005 he won from an amazing pole lap). He can’t perform as good if he hasn’t got the equipment, it’s like fighting with one hand, being handicapped – you’ll be alright but not as strong as you could be. The previous cars have definately handicapped Kimi, and while the critics say he should’ve been able to drive around it, he actually did but it was always masked by the general clash of the car with his driving style. It’s looking very encouraging for the next races then, Kimi is finally able to fight back! And when’s he’s on the attack, he’s terrifying! lol The title looks too far away to think about but Button should still be worried, he won’t have it easy from now on.

wauw, it was about time Stefano stood up for Kimi and praised him cause I was getting tired of the "Felipe did a wonderful job" bullshit and forgetting they have 2 drivers. I wouldn’t say he had a perfect weekend but in view of circumstances he did welland could someone sow Massa’s mouth cause he’s quite annoying with his "if… I would have passed Kimi blabla" I’m really starting to dislike Massa more and more. He starts to show a lot of similarities with Hamilton when it comes to talking.. Anyway in the end the only thing that matters is that Kimi got third place and look so adorable. but he needs a haircut don’t you think? One more thing…During the price ceremony, I was watching with my mom and my brother and you could see the 2 brawn drivers saluting the royal family again and Kimi was already gone, and my mom was like, where did he go? and I was like, getting the bottle of champagne 😀 he earned 😀 Hope he has fun this weekendDoes anybody know whether Monty is going to be with him like the rally in Finland?

i agree with you lena…all this while SD has been treating felipe like he’s their no. 1 driver and lotsa compliments go to him.and yeah, he’s quite annoying with his words.like he is much better than kimi..we raikkos believe and confident that kimi is the most talented and natural driver, he’s our man!about the haircut, i personally think he doesn’t need it..he looks sexier with his long lush hair!lol=)hope kimi will have more and more good races after this! KEEP FLYING KIMI!

Kimi is undoubtedly the most talented driver!!! His talent can no longer be wasted by the car he drives. Really hope he can win another world championship before he retires. So let’s hope F60 can be not only fast but also stable!!! And hopefully, F61 maybe will be better 😀

🙂 Hello all! Finally some praise for Kimi!! Like most people here I was getting a bit tired of hearing how Massa did a fantastic job while Kimi only had a "good" race. I had a laugh when he made a bee-line for the champers though. It was such a Kimi moment 🙂 He certainly deserved it! And he was one of the first drivers to get into the car before the race too – guess it really shows how determined and eager he was to win! It was definitely a good weekend 🙂

Agreed all….finally Kimi gets a credit from the team principal. Being a Raikko’s fan, I do not want to be biased but must admit, I am very tired of reading the comments abt Massa! Kimi speaks through his action and given the perfect equipment, he will deliver. Apart from him winning races, I am happy when Kimi out-performed FM!!!! What ever it is…Kimi brought the team’s 1st point and podium for this season, so the team must give him that credit!!!@ Vitor – I do agree that Luca is really a Kimi fan like all of us..seeing the photos of Kimi & Luca somehow show that Luca listen or adores our driver, a perfect combination. Love that! @ massie – yup, he doesn’t need the hair-cut now…looks sexier now! Hi! Hi! Hi!Keep flying Kimi!!!
