Breaking News & Quotes:
Malaysian GP red-flagged due to rain

Ferrari team quotesKimi Raikkonen – 14th: "We were in a good position at
the time of the first pitstop and then we made a mistake, fitting the
rain tyres when the rain had yet to fall. And that was where my race
was pretty much over. When the race was halted, the conditions were
very difficult. There was so much water on the track and I was
struggling to drive the car even in second gear. Clearly we cannot be
happy with our start to the season: in Melbourne, I was the one to make
a mistake and today it was the team, the result being we find ourselves
without any points."

https://i0.wp.com/img21.imageshack.us/img21/9040/1000x3.jpghttps://i0.wp.com/img27.imageshack.us/img27/5543/evenstarsays.png Rain and F1 equalled chaos, as usual! The race started fantastically, plenty of action and battling going on. The group that Alonso was holding up was particularly interesting to watch, as Kimi chased him down and passed eventually. It was all good, it was looking good indeed. But of course, Ferrari had to go and stuff it up with bad strategic planning yet again. They stuffed up yesterday in qualifying with Massa, and then it was Kimi’s turn in the race. He was running in fifth place, not bad at all. Obviously, not anywhere near the front but for now Ferrari can do with some points. Yet they can’t even score a single one.

I regret hoping for rain. I admit it brings a damn exciting and fun race to watch but it ruined Kimi’s race yet again in the Ferrari. I was praying they didn’t mess the race up as Kimi rolled into the pits – earlier than planned, which was for lap 21 I’m sure it was. In anticipation for the rain to fall, they put the tyres on too soon. Kimi fell back towards the end and he then mumbled over the team radio something I couldn’t understand, apparently said "my tyres are completely destroyed" – good one for pointing that out to the team Kimi. But I know this much – he was annoyed. And so am I. I usually keep my cool about things and come here and sound all positive and light-hearted, but today really has pissed me right off.

https://i0.wp.com/img21.imageshack.us/img21/5240/1000x4.jpgThe BBC didn’t help. The race coverage was poor. Not once did anyone mention what happened to Kimi, after his pitstop we never saw him ever again. I was wondering where the hell Kimi was. Then his team radio came on and that’s it. While the race was stopped (I can’t even be bothered to talk about the race while it was dry, because it was really good) and the cars lined up on the grid, everyone soaking wet, Kimi’s car was being rolled back into the pit garage. I assumed, race over. Then having to wait a futher half and hour before the BBC even picked up on that fact, they still couldn’t find out for us what happened. Utterly useless coverage. Sure, Kimi was not a prominent figure being back in 14th, but for heavens sake, he was 5th and a good race went out the window. The least the BBC could have done was mention it, but they were too busy waffling on and on and on about safety. Oh, safety this, Oh, safety that. Flipping heck, the drivers are 100% aware about the safety, they’re not stupid. Talk about something relevant i.e what the teams have been struggling with, more precisely, what the hell happened to Ferrari.

Then to wind me up even more, the BBC with presenter Jake Humphreys, David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan decided to find Kimi in the garage out of his race overalls, in his flip flops, eating ice cream more interesting than the situation itself. They were joking about it’s not the right weather for ice cream, oh he looks ready to be off to the beach and more rubbish. Obviously if the car’s got a damn problem, why would Kimi be sat sweating in a helmet? Oh but the BBC weren’t even bothered about what was Kimi’s situation with the car in the garage with the wheels off, they were more amused by his ice cream. Idiots. It was good to see Kimi as himself though.

https://i0.wp.com/img19.imageshack.us/img19/8826/snapshot20090405131850.jpgFinally, pit report Ted Kravitz spoke to Ferrari’s Luca Colajanni about what’s wrong with Kimi’s car and he said there seemed to be a problem with the KERS. And they were deciding what to do, whether to restart from the pitlane (if there was a race restart) or retire Kimi. Completely ignoring the fact that they screwed up his race in 5th place, we were left with nothing else.

So I’m very annoyed after today’s race. And I wasn’t even expecting Kimi to win. Is scoring some points too damn hard for Ferrari nowadays? It’s really hard being a Kimi fan, I feel extremely frustrated with how things have been going for him. He was doing a good job, he was great no doubt about that, he always does his best but the whole thing can’t stick together as well as it should, it seems. Last weekend we had people criticising Kimi. Yet, the dunces on Ferrari’s pit wall can’t do anything right either themselves. I know, it’s a team effort. But the strategists at Ferrari were clearly to blame for this poor result for Kimi. We weren’t asking for a win, just some points. What’s so bloody hard in doing that. I feel sorry for Kimi. I’m already feeling guilty for ranting and being ‘negative’ but I’m entitled to my opinion.

*Takes a deep breath* Okay, now that I’ve got that off my chest, let’s take a step back. Brawn GP and Toyota are in a class of their own. The diffuser row will go to China which is where the next race is. While the teams protest against these diffusers, the FIA clearly think otherwise, so Ferrari will be working on the diffuser since Australia and come up with a fight back when we get to Europe. This is all we can do. Wait. Wait and see.

I won’t be making a highlight video for this race. It’s utterly pointless. Nor do I feel like it, because these videos are based on Kimi’s weekend and when there’s hardly anything to do with Kimi, what’s there to show? Till we start getting some results, I’m not wasting my time. I have other things on my mind, like I said it’s not that easy being a Kimi fan. I’m sorry about this. I’ll go away now and eat some ice cream in support of Kimi, that’s the least I can do. If he can be so relaxed about it all, then I have to try that too because my blood was boiling in the past two hours. I’m always supporting him in my heart and that’s all that counts right now. I love Kimi, I love you guys who visit here and I’m sure things will get better but right now, I’m just fed up. We’ll be back soon though! Keep Flying Kimi ~

Note Please do not keep sending me messages about why you can’t download the pictures of videos because I’ve said a hundred times – WINDOWS LIVE SPACES is NOT working properly and since I have no control over Windows Live I can therefore do nothing about it. Sorry!

Yah! I felt cheated as a fan when the race was stopped. It was an anti-climatic end to the Malaysian GP. Just to please Bernie and satisfy the European TV audience, I feel Malaysia was "pushed" into agreeing to a twilight race without much consultation on light and weather condition typical to this time of year. As a result, I feel TV audiences, let alone the paying spectators, did not get their value or money’s worth! Perhaps those in charge will reconsider the starting time for next year. As for Kimi’s car being pushed into his pit box, I was also questioning why none of the commentators made any mention of what we could all see clearly on screen. It wasn’t till later when Kimi was shown relaxed in his shorts with ice cream and Coke on hand, did the commentators realise Kimi’s had enough and wasn’t about to continue if the race was re-started. I can just see what the newspapers will write about, or rather, make up between the lines….perhaps his motivation is not there, or is he paid to eat ice cream when the going gets tough, blah, blah, blah. If anything, I think Kimi was the smartest of them because he must’ve known the race was never going to be restarted. Agree, Ferrari once again committed lots of errors this w/end. Kimi should never have gone out on extreme wets! Whose call was it ? Most likely the strategists, but knowing Kimi, he’d take the share of "blame" for his team, unlike some other team fortunate enough to have a sacrificial goat to take the fall.

All in all, the stupid call for the full wet tyre at the wrong moment cost Kimi his 1st point scoring position of the year and the team, not Kimi should take the blame as they took the gamble on Kimi, who was 5th at the time he cme into pit . The one who should be on the lottery was Massa coz he’s out of the point at that time and Kimi should hv gone out with the slick once again as the rest of the front runner too and should hv opened his account . Ferrari is such a stupid team right now . They just can’t seems to gt it right and even a single point can’t be reached .. The KERS on the Ferrari doesn’t seems to gv any advantage but it’s disadvantage that it brings so much problem but still they risk it by using it . By the way, Kimi i believe still one of the BEST! GO KIMI!

i really starts to hate the German Telesion channel RTL, beecause i saw that kimi was in normal clothes and eating ice (typical ICEMAN *hihi*) and they say NOTHING about kimi. WHY? I mean he was on the screen and he should drive, if the race will start again… and rtl never ever said one damn word about what happend to kimi and why he wasn’t in the car anymore…But nothing at all, it was a bad day for ferrari , AGAIN!!So I hope they will use the time and fixed it up for the next race in China in two weeks.Keep flying Kimi!

Kimi is the best and we will keep supporting him no matter what.. the one thing thats pissing me though is that.. we have been making some stupid stupid strategy mistakes during the wet conditions.. it all started from last year (2008)..nevertheless Kimi made an awesome move on Alonso today.. thats the highlight of the race for me.. Cheers to a scoop pf icecream..

Well, it was looking good for Kimi until the mess up in his strategy. It was EXTREMELY disappointing to hear that he was lapping 10-20 seconds a lap slower than the others, and by the time it did rain, his tyres were shot. The only thing that made up for it (partly) was seeing everyone else soaking wet while Kimi was all dry and very cute, eating an ice cream. Yeah, the media might make a fuss about it, but that’s Kimi! 🙂 He really made ice cream look tempting. We’ll keep waiting and hoping. Go kimi! 🙂

Saima, well said on the wrong strategy! I was furious with the race results also….Kimi had a great start, not only from me as his fan, but also from Star Sport comentators-Steve Slater & Karun. He managed to pass Alonso although he lost some valuable seconds tailing him! Kimi suddenly disappeared, until Steve mentioned that he was 14th, with extreme wet tyres! OMG!!!! Not again, haven’t Ferrari learnt enough during Silverstone 2008? Wrong choice as commented by Karun….. Kimi continued slipping. I felt very upset and as predicted, Kimi’s race is over!It was cute though to see him on the screen with his ice-cream, at least we in Malaysia was informed that his car has KERS problem. Kimi looked so cool, like nothing has happened! This is something great that I have learnt about Kimi, esp after what the team did to him this w/end!!!Hope Ferrari pays serious attention to Kimi’s comment yesterday on the car lacking of pace! Seriously, if they are really looking for points from their drivers. Albert Park may not be the right track to assess their competitiveness, but like Kimi said before, they should know their position in Sepang!Hope Kimi’s "luck-less" w/end will not roll-over to Shanghai! I am praying hard for that, and hope he will be at the podium again!Keep flying Kimi!

Well what a farce that was. I don’t even want to comment on the stupid move to put wets on Kimi’s car when it was still dry as, but the idea to run a race at that time of day in a tropical zone at this time of year was just stupid. Ask anyone who lives in the vicinity and they will tell you that late afternoon is downpour time. What a total waste of time it all was. Not sure about anyone else thinks but I think these two twilight races that have been run have both been hard to watch. Sun glare on the screen is awful and not good tv viewing at all. Considering that is the reason the time has been selected it seems pretty poor to me. Add to that the fact that if the race had been run at normal time it would have been run in full I was really disappointed (well that was one of the feelings).

Saima dear! I feel you!!! I kept writing on the forum today that´s its´so hard to see Kimi struggling so much, we´ve seen him struggle so much in McLaren, that it is enough! I just keep telling myself "time, time, time", "let´s wait and see"….The race (while it was dry) was pretty amazing, an incredible start from Nico Rosberg, and all the battles that came later, Kimi and Alonso, Webber and…I can´t remember :s! It was fun, until….you know when! As soon as Kimi put on his wet tyres I knew it wouldn´t rain right away, it´s something that happens to Ferrari, I don´t know why, when it comes to wet races, the humidity of the rain seems to make its way into their brain and they can´t think properly! It was a bloody waste since he was 5th, those would have been nice points…..Oh and don´t worry about the highlight vid, of course you´re not going to make it if you don´t have any Kimi material!!! We support your decisions 100%!And good rant as usual, hehe.KEEP FLYING KIMI-KEEP FLYING EVENSTAR!!!

Kimi had a good race before Ferrair mucked it up. The curse of Schumacher. Kimi had a great race before the stop, great start, past Alonso who was awesome then the pit stop. The track was dry, they put Kimi on Wets. If it was starting to rain then maybe some logic, but I would have gone with inters. The fact is there was no rain, none at all. Kimi lost around 1 min 20 seconds at least. Shame really, don’t see why they risked Kimi’s race, he was 5th, not 25th or 15th!BBC Coverage wasn’t good, start was ok, showed Kimi pash Alonso, then the stop, then wait about half the race and we still don’t see Kimi.

Saima, you are so right!Couldn’t believe that Ferrari decided to take a gamble on Kimi when he was in the scoring zone!I was stunned and shocked. His car was not 100% his KERS kept failing but he was still up there! He was a few secs off the pace but he was right up there!Just shows you how competitive he really is.Stefano Domenicalli was quick to come out with a bold statement saying that Kimi’s contract will be under review this season but look at what the hell they are doing!Kimi has worked so hard this weekend plus he has so much pressure from the Italian press and yet he still performs but I don’t blame him for houting at the team when they cost him the race.He could’ve finished well between 3rd,4th or 5th.I’ve been watching F1 for over 15 years and has never seen such stupid decisions made which cost a driver crucial points!Kimi was driving this weekend like he use to!He was at his best as always!

Hey my Darling!!!I can completely understand your reaction. I must say, i felt almost the same emotions like you. And I’m very angry about the decision, what ferrari has made. Kimi’s race started good enough, to fight for good points in the championship, but the mistake from the team has cost him a lot.For me it looked like, that always something went wrong, that kimi lost the chance, what he needs. In every race, it’s not important in which race, kimi had always unlucky moments. I sit always and think WHY ALWAYS KIMI???? In every race i pray and hope that something should not go wrong. Badly, it seems that kimi is very unlucky. I don’t know why, but we see since last year, luck is not in kimis side.Kimi gave us entertaining race. Although, we haven’t seen him a lot on TV. I simply love him and wish him always the best. I hope, next time, he will have god’s help on his side. After that disappointing race, to see kimi eating ice – cream, and see him smiling. I was a bit more relaxed. But i know, he felt also sad, about everything what was happened, during the race, and also before.I wished that kimi had a better race today, without any problems. But i shouldn’t happen. We have to wait now till China. Hopefully, then the dear good will let us and Kimi smile. Because it’s time that we have also some good memories from this year.I believe in Kimi and i trust him. He will be again great, and will show us his quality. He will let us smile again with lot’s of photos and videos of him. He will everybody show what he deserve. And thanks Darling that you divide your opinion, with us!KEEP THE FAITH & KEEP FLYING KIMI!!!!

I went to Sepang on the qualifying day as well as on the race day. I screamed (together with all Kimi’s and Ferraris fans) when I saw they fitted Kimi with wet tyres when it hasn’t started raining yet! I prayed that the rain will come faster so that he won’t damage the tyres and compromise the pace but the luck wasn’t on his side. Stupid team (how many have mentioned this word today??)! But he was really really great. The fight with Alonso was brilliant. I didn’t manage to get a lot of his pictures as the car was moving too fast everytime! Always ended up with only the background, without the car. So I took videos instead. When I was wondering where’s Kimi after the race was red flagged, the screen showed him inside the garage, with something which really looks like an ice-cream (the screen was pretty far away, I could only guess), LOL!! What a way to cool down!! It’s so like him and I love it ( I had the similar choco-top ice-cream just now to commemorate the event)! It’s sad and I hope that Shanghai and the rest of the season won’t be to hard on him anymore. He deserves better.

Even my six year old son understood the stupidness of full wets during a mild drizzle… I screamed, INTERMIDIATES, just look at how fast Timo Glock was going!David, my son, said very wisley for a six year old: I think Kimi is not happy if it is not going to rain very soon! About the race coverage, it was the same here in Italy. No information about Kimi, we saw his car in the box but we didn’t know anything about what happened.Same story also about the ice cream: Sky speaker said it wasn’t a good sight for the team to see Kimi smiling, relaxing and eating an ice cream in that situation. Then, if the team doesn’t react, it could be because there isn’t a driver able to keep high the pressure and the motivation. He said he looked more interested in data this winter during his two last rally races. He should show the same passion also in these F1 races to help the team to find the right way.I was a bit surprised by those comments from the speaker. This time they seem to me absolutely out of place.

I’ve also just read the Q & A with Stefano, Maaike and it’s funny how I posed the same question to my work colleague this morning…what sort of "consultant" is M. Schumacher and what’s the value of his role exactly with mistakes commited left, right & centre in both races he attended ?! Strangely though, Michael’s presence on camera seemed to have faded as the errors mounted! He’s smartly distancing himself, perhaps!I’ve also read in the Official F1 site on selected Driver’s quote, whereby Kimi admitted to his mistake in Melbourne, but surprisingly pointed the finger at his team for the error in Sepang. I’m curious as to what others think with regards to the role of the driver in overriding their team’s decision. In the post race interview, it seems that both Timo & Nick had the final say with their tyre choice, or rather, were adamant their decision was better than the team magement’s. Could Kimi have done that ? Or does the final decision goes to those "brains" sitting on the pit wall of the Ferrari camp? Shouldn’t that also mean that Stefano & Luca are just as much to blame themselves and just as replaceable as the drivers are??

If there is one thing I know about Kimi I know he is always honest and is not afraid to admit to his own mistakes, so with him pointing the finger to the team tells me a lot. He is frustrated and I think Ferrari and McLaren are simular in the fact that the drivers don’t have the last say in things. Sometimes the right thing to do but not all the time. ( ahum Hamilton!) I mean if you look at what Timo gained on his intermidiates you would think it is worth a discussion with the drivers.About Schumacher.. You are right, as things go wrong he is nowhere to be seen. And the way Dominicali answers the questions and the way Schumacher reacted himself ( I read that somewhere, I can’t remember where) about adressing those issues internally and not in public makes me wonder even more. I don’t think Michael is as valueble as Ferrari makes us think he is. Why is his contract still not renewed. And if he did had a hand in making the wrong calls this last race I hope they think twice about that anyway. Kimi never hid the fact he is not interessted in advise from him and it seems funny that every race, with mayby 1 or 2 exceptions, Michael is present Kimi does not get the results he gets in other races. But perhaps this are pure speculations of a Kimi fan ;o)

Hey guys. About the hungarian tv-coverage I have to say, reading your comments, that it was a little bit better, in my opinion. The speaker, when saw Kimi eating his ice-cream, started to tell the events of Kimi’s first F1 race, when, an hour before the race, the team couldn’t find him, because he was sleeping in a truck of the team. The hungarian speaker, than was there and saw with his own eyes, when they found him, and Kimi went to prepare for the race…he was very sleepy, and in his first race he got the sixth place…. and the commentator remembered, that he told about Kimi in the coverage that when he will be really waked up, he will be the best.I think this was a positive comment on him, but nothing more was mentioned about why he is staying in the garage, and not outside in the rain, like the others.I had to say this:) because I think we have to believe in Kimi, and leave out of consideration every bad word about our Iceman, and support him in everything. 😀
