Kimi Raikkonen is still scheduled to get his first taste of
Ferrari’s new F60 in Portugal next week despite leaving this week’s
Madonna di Campiglio ski event early with tonsil problems.
The Finn has spent the week with Ferrari, being present at the
team’s new car launch in Mugello on Monday and then travelling with
them to the Italian Alps for their annual media event.
However, suffering from a tonsil complaint, it was decided for
precautionary reasons that it would be better for Raikkonen to leave
the Campiglio event early so he could rest ahead of the major test next
week at Portimao.
A Ferrari spokesman confirmed that Raikkonen’s early departure from
Italy did not mean there was any change in schedule for next week’s
test programme, where Raikkonen and Felipe Massa will get two day’s
running each in the team’s new car.
Hope you have a speedy recovery, Kimi!
F60 Test Moved To Mugello
Ferrari have decided to switch the first fully-fledged test of their
new F60 from Portimao in Portugal to their Mugello test track in Italy
next week.
The Maranello-based team had been scheduled to join most other teams
in running at the new Algarve circuit, but a team spokesman has
confirmed to autosport.com that poor weather forecasts for Portugal have forced a change of plan.
Current forecasts for Portimao suggest that Monday and Tuesday will
be hit by light rain. With testing at such a premium this year in the
build-up to the season, the loss of two proper days of running could
prove critical as teams bid to get their 2009 cars sorted.
It means Ferrari will have a wait a little longer to gauge the
competitiveness of their car against their opposition – with most teams
expected to run their definitive 2009 machinery for the first time from
Monday.
Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa are set to get two days running each
in the new car, following the shakedown at Mugello earlier this week. A
planned run for Marc Gene at Vairano yesterday had to be cancelled
because of bad weather.

Take care and get well soon Kimi!!

Kimi is at Mugello today, but it’s raining there too. So hopefully, he feels a bit better if not fully recovered 🙂 The test news will be posted here when it’s finished. But you can follow it in the forum!
