The 40-year-old Finn and double-world champion, who retired as a McLaren race driver in 2001,
said his countryman Kimi Raikkonen will bounce back to form after a
lacklustre season with Ferrari this year.
"Kimi did not have a good year, but in 2009 he will attack again
and win races," Hakkinen told laola1.at. "He knows what went wrong and
will stop it from happening again."

Mika was an awesome driver – to hear his positive comments is so cool – especially as he is so close to McLaren not really what we would have expected! – as we all do he has faith in Kimi!!! It’s good to hear that Mika isn’t completely ruled by the McLaren PR people and can still support his fellow countryman.It’s also comforting to know that not all retired formula1 drivers have had their brains turned to mush unlike a certain loudmouth renown for his verbal diarrhea 😉

Hi and Happy New Year 2009 to all! Thanks Pekka for sharing Kimi’s appearance in a Finnish program with us. I thoroughly agree with your observation about Kimi. He looked like he couldn’t stop smiling during the entire interview. I just wish you or Evenstar or anyone out there can work their magic and translate a bit more for us non-Finnish speakers !Also do you think the bit where the Ferrari "mechanic (?)" interrupted Kimi was a set-up so he can do the pushing bit for the camera ? Finally, wouldn’t we all love to be driven around by Kimi in a Ferrari ?!

It’s more meaningful watching it again now with translation, so Thanks to Kinga & friend for sharing. Hi!That part, where Kimi is swearing was certainly a "fixed thing". As Evenstar wrote, that Ferrari dude was Kimi’s friend. In general finnish persons are very quiet and calm. We don’t start pushing other people for no reason :). I pretty much knew, when I saw that clip for the first time, that it has to be set up :)BTW: Couple of last sentences what Jussi Halli and Kimi talk in the car didn’t have subtitles. I can translate them here:Kimi is accelerating hard and then something happens:Kimi: Did we brake this thing?JH: It put sixth gear on?Kimi: Yes, by itself…Kimi: No… It’s working…

Good job ! I didn’t want to push my luck too much asking for the last bits to be translated, so thanks Pekka. Is Ajoneuvos somewhat like the Top Gear of Finland ? Kimi must like the prgram ‘cos he seems to get on well with the interviewer/host and a feeling of mutual respect emanates from both.

I think Kimi has visited this site at least couple of times. Kimi is just a normal guy from a normal family. I think he is mostly confused about attention he get’s. Nowdays he seems to cope with it more easily.
