2008 Grand Prix of Japan, Kimi Collects Podium Finish

https://i0.wp.com/img224.imageshack.us/img224/2800/jpnflagnk4.gif | Sunday, Race Day – Alonso Wins After Hamilton Self-Destruction Ruins Kimi’s Chance

https://i0.wp.com/img76.imageshack.us/img76/6776/chfexqtzvcvrkeadurxlp3.jpgFernando Alonso took his and Renault’s second shock victory in succession in the Japanese Grand Prix, as title contenders Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton finished only eighth and 12th after a series of controversial early incidents.

Both Hamilton (McLaren) and Massa (Ferrari) were delayed by drive-through penalties – the Briton for forcing Kimi Raikkonen wide at the start, and Massa for pushing his title rival into a spin shortly afterwards.

Robert Kubica kept himself in title contention by finishing second for BMW, fending off Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.

Hamilton made a slow start and was behind Raikkonen going into Turn 1, where the McLaren dived down the inside with a tyre-smoking move that took not only Hamilton and Raikkonen wide onto the run-off, but also caused their teammates Heikki Kovalainen and Massa to go off in avoidance.

That allowed Kubica and Alonso to slip into first and second ahead of the recovering Kovalainen, while Massa, Hamilton and Raikkonen fell back into the traffic.

On the next lap Massa ran wide into the Turn 10 chicane, allowing Hamilton to slip past and into fifth place, but the Ferrari fought back across the kerbs at the second part of the corner, punting Hamilton into a spin…(read full race report here)

https://i0.wp.com/i11.photobucket.com/albums/a188/SaimaAzam/Misc/krsevenstarsmall3.png Hmmmm. Yes, well. I guess we can put "infinite idiocy" under Lewis Hamilton in the dictionary now. I have better words but I think they shouldn’t be shown here. I already know what you guys are thinking! Please do share your comments -feel free to go mad. Or take the Raikkonen approach and just roll your eyes and accept Hamilton’s an idiot and do your own thing. Race videos as well as the full press conference will be available to watch here in due time, or see them here at the end of this post..

https://i0.wp.com/img236.imageshack.us/img236/3999/tfitmtcvbrkhnpvbhexye5.jpgI don’t want to bring anymore bad vibes here, because I never swore so much in my life (during an F1 race start) but how do you refrain from doing so? Moreover, how does Kimi do it? I don’t know what his reaction was because, you guessed it, ITV cut Kubica and Kimi off the press conference and went straight to Hamilton. They had actually received word that the idiot left the track, but McLaren probably smacked him one and told him to get his ass back here and face the music. He admitted his ‘error but that’s not good enough, he didn’t even apologise but it’s not the first time. He even implied his drive-through penalty wasn’t fair compared to having the same as Massa, just because he didn’t hit anyone. Er, but you might aswell have after driving Kimi off track and causing three others to veer straight ahead, you idiot! So thank you, Hamilton, for doing an absolute great job at ruining your race and taking other drivers down with you. I mean, no one can ask of such idiocy from any other driver. Then he tried getting all ‘racey’ with Massa, but this time Massa took the corner fully and touched wheels and Hamilton spun around. I laughed when it happened, I don’t care if Massa was in the wrong or did it deliberately which he believes isn’t true, Hamilton deserved it anyway.

Let’s start on the race start: It looked like a film when the camera showed Kimi in that tribal helmet of his, looking towards Hamilton’s car before they waited on the grid for the lights to go out.  You knew instantly Kimi’s start was going to be good. And it was! It was one of the best I have ever seen from second on the grid. He instantly got infront of Hamilton, literally. Kovalainen had a good start and lined up alongside Hamilton on his right but you just knew in that split-second that Hamilton was going to do something stupid. It’s becoming his feature of racing, and quite frankly, he’s dirty, rude, and completely dillusional most of the time. Maybe he thought he could do a Australia 2007 start, but this was Kimi infront of him. And he lit some fire up Hamilton’s ass by getting infront and, though it was for a second or two, it felt damn good for us. Then Kimi’s only chance of winning was thrown out the window. Again. But that fucking idiot. How many more times does Hamilton need to fail to realise to grow up? This is Formula One. You need more dicipline than other racing series to compete professionally with world class fellow drivers. He pushed not only Kimi off track but others too, Kovalainen went straight ahead following Hamilton and could have well crashed, causing an even bigger problem for cars behind. Hamilton’s drive through penalty for this incident is a joke. He should have been disqualified, but maybe that’s over-the-top. There should be a Hamilton Penalty, a separate one just for his idiocy hahahaha! He risked having a collision BY driving Kimi off road AND caused multiple cars to veer off track. So, Kimi beat Hamilton twice actually, at the start. First, by passing him straight away and then Kimi owned him again by touching Hamilton’s nerves. Nice one Kimi. Sorry the idiot took you down with him though.

https://i0.wp.com/img151.imageshack.us/img151/8202/ajhkbhogagzflvbhexdom5.jpgAnyway, from then on it looked like game over for Kimi and Massa. It already was for poor Coulthard who had a big crash after turn 1. I was so worried for Kimi that he might have an accident because the grid was completely changed after turn 1 and there must have been a bit of panic and confusion among the drivers. But they all did a good job at recovering and getting on with it, especially Kubica! He went from sixth to first after that, that’s got to be the best jump of the season. Kimi fell behind Massa at one point, at which I thought "I don’t flipping believe it". After out-qualifying Massa the tables were turned, all thanks to that shithead Hamilton. Kimi’s objective was to win this race. Hamilton robbed him off that just like he did at Canada. This guy really doesn’t deserve to be champion, for a long time, until he learns some basic racing lessons and changes his arrogant attitude. They say champions have to be arrogant and selfish, but surely there’s a limit? What’s the difference between a world class champion and an idiot then? It’s good to be super fast and talented but you’ve got to dicipline it. I’ll expand more on this point later.

The race, then on, is a bit of a blur for me right now. There were lots of overtakings on this circuit, which was a surprise because no weather drama interferred! The competition is increasing, and Renault certainly showed that again today. BMW had a good race, on Kubica’s part. Heidfeld’s having a tough season still. But for Kubica  to keep infront of Kimi is very impressive. Even though I feel Kimi decided to call it a day after his second attempt to pass Kubica, the BMW and Renault driver absolutely deserved their results and the podium was a joy to watch. Three top class drivers. Congratulations to Alonso and Renault, they’ve worked hard but you got to admit they were lucky today. The best part, although bitter sweet, was to see Kimi. It’s been four races that he hasn’t scored. But he accepted that third place trophy. It was so cute, the way he held it and just stood still with his arms in the air, receiving the applaud.

Kimi had that usual phase during the middle part of the race, where the car wasn’t as quick and Kimi spent a couple of laps getting to grips with the tyres. He took the fastest lap before his second pitstop, and he was flying. But so was Kubica, who had a great outlap and managed to keep infront of Kimi by just a car length or so into turn 1. We knew that Kimi would attempt to overtake, there were more than 15 laps left to the finish so he could plan his moves without any hasty decisions. Yeah, are you listening Hamilton? Kimi had a lot of laps and there was no need to be hasty and stupid, he diciplined his judgements and treated Kubica fairly. Hamilton had the whole fucking race to win but he screwed it up straight away and Kimi was now having to follow a BMW when he should have been winning. Argh, I don’t want to see Hamilton’s face ever again.

And guess who had a hydraulics failure? Poor Kovalainen. He was careful when being asked about Hamilton’s start move, saving McLaren any further stress, bless him. Hamilton was still lucky enough not to taste a reliability related DNF. An unneccessarily bad day thanks to their No.1 driver. I guess Ferrari can feel some relief that it hasn’t been only them to taste disaster. But it’s extremely frustrating that an idiot ruined their chances for a win. Victory No.17 for Kimi is extremely frustrating to reach too. I thought maybe we’d take an all-time fastest lap record from Japan today, but Kimi was also robbed of any tiny glory in that, by Massa later in the race as he tried to collect one point. Massa did it in the end, so he deserves some credit for being able to fight back. For once when the race went smoothly, apart from the start, Kimi still didn’t get what he wanted. That’s all he’s asked for, a smooth race, no rain, no safety car. None of that happened, well the safety car did happen but it was at the start of the race, it wasn’t at the pitstop phase of the race where it can jeopardise strategies like it did in Singapore. But what happened? Hamilton happened. Kimi pushed you off track at Spa did he? You didn’t hit anyone at Canada did you? You didn’t mess with other drivers’ lines at Monza? No one has the balls but you, yes? I thought after today, there’s no way he could bullshit. But surprise surprise, he did. I’m getting it off my chest now because I don’t want to mention his name ever again. For the next week at least.

https://i0.wp.com/img90.imageshack.us/img90/2889/zzxdgqslbuqkmsyrkqgay1.jpgKubica is indeed the only other driver I can mention, I like him  – he’s the only one who impressed me as Kimi did years ago. Obviously not as much as Kimi did. But Kubica showed today that he means business. He was really fast when it counted, he handled pressure by responding positively, he defended himself cleanly and very well – all qualities I relate to Kimi. Kubica’s won already in Canada this year, but since then this was the first time he’s had more pressure. Kimi’s only choice of place to pass was the pit straight, which is the smart thing to do. He had 15 laps. Attempt one he slipstreamed but not quite enough to put his nose further ahead of Kubica’s into turn 1. In the next lap, Kubica kept a good exit out of the final corner into the straight but Kimi was still close enough to try. I thought Kimi would try it on the inside this time, but he didn’t, he didn’t want to risk anything just for a second place finish. He probably felt if he can’t do it on the outside again, then let’s settle for third. His tyres were fading too. Kimi wanted to win, if he was in second place and Kubica in the lead then for sure he would have tried until the end. But there’s not much difference in third from second to him. So, the race was finished for Kimi in third place. Nothing to congratulate about, as he could have won. But through no mistake on his own, he was robbed off the chance to do so at the start, despite having a great start. Alonso’s early strategy change was too strong to fight back to as well. Kimi did a good race, he did nothing wrong. So I can only say I’m proud of him. Afterall, I don’t think any of us expected Hamilton to score no points and Massa just two (Bourdais has been given a penalty for the tangle he had with Massa. So Massa inherits an extra point which seems unfair). All this though brings Kimi a little closer to the title but so is Kubica now! Can Hamilton really get any more dumber in the final two races? He did last year, and he seems not to have learnt anything this time despite saying he has (hahaha). Either way, Kimi won’t back off. Kimi’s here to fight. The championship isn’t in his control anymore but he wants to win races still. So cheers to that! Although, Ferrari seem more in praise for Massa than Kimi today. Domenicali had to say "our Brazilian drove an amazing race…" and Baldisserri said "Felipe put on a great performance, with incredible lap times. Kimi did
his own race but was struggling a bit in the second stint, unable to
stick with Kubica.
" I’m not surprised if they’re being like that after Kimi was critical about his situation after qualifying yesterday, when he said he’s not very happy with how things are and with the car. Well, if Ferrari feel offended by that then that’s poor of them. Kimi has every right to say he’s frustrated but as a team he said we’ll do their best.

[Update] After reading Kimi’s press conference quotes, as shown below, Kimi claims he was hit by both McLarens at the start and there was apparently some damage to his car. Well, first Hamilton pushing Kimi off and then causing Kovalainen to go straight on into Kimi so our driver was the main victim of Hamilton’s stupidity. I was fearing that Kimi would be victim of it again. Luckily the damage, if any, wasn’t serious but it didn’t help his pace, as he lacked speed to catch Kubica and Alonso and after he ran wide with the Kubica battle, his tyres grained. Comparing to how easily Massa managed to pass the BMW of Heidfeld, it’s clear then that Kimi was hindered. So, not everything went well today. He still amazes me in his reactions. Iceman indeed. Keep Flying Kimi! ~

"I got a pretty good start but then braking into Turn 1 I was trying to turn and there was first one McLaren and then a second. Both hit me and I had nowhere to go other than straight. I lost many places and had some damage on the front, I got back on circuit but was behind people.

"I was catching up and getting past some people, then at the pitstop I was behind Robert [Kubica], I was fighting against him. In the last stint I had a few tries to get past him, but always caught him in the last part of the circuit and the main straight.

"He went to the inside and I didn’t have anywhere to go, we got side-by-side but I knew that if nobody lifted in Turn 3 I had no option but to run-off the circuit.

"Then my tyres started to grain a bit so I eased off. It was a bit disappointing what happened in the first corner but at least I got to the finish this time."

"I lost straightaway the front [after the incident], it didn’t feel the same any more," he explained. "Heikki [Kovalainen] hit me harder, the front felt quite light, I didn’t know I didn’t ask if we had damaged something.

"It was okay, but we were missing something to not be fast enough to catch up with the cars in front. Before the second stop I got stuck behind Rubens Barrichello and lost a second. In the end it was quite a difficult race so we got third place and hopefully now we can score better from here."

Full Press Conference Quotes

Q. Kimi, the performance seemed to be very much up and down during the race?

KR: Yeah, a bit but then when you’re behind people it’s very tricky, the tyres don’t last as well and the car doesn’t work as well as if you’re on your own. Overall it wasn’t too bad, we got six points but we definitely wanted to challenge for the win. It already went away in the first corner when the McLaren came and I had nowhere to go and I had to go straight on and they hit me. After that I was always trying to recover and you know that the people who started behind you often have a bit more fuel, so in this kind of place it’s hard to improve but we did the best that we could, not as quick in the race as we were hoping but that was the end result today.

Q. What about your battle with Robert and you also had Nelson behind you?

KR: Yeah, I think he caught us because we were fighting together but two or three times I had the chance to get past him, I just caught him in the last part of the straight but he always defended on the inside, so I didn’t have much choice. I needed to go outside, try to cut inside. One lap I managed to get on the inside of him on the exit of corner two. I was a bit ahead of him in corner three but he was inside and I was outside, so I knew that if we were both pushing one hundred percent in the corner, I would only have one way to go and that was running off the circuit, so I tried but then after that I got some graining on the tyres and his tyres cleaned up, so the chance was there but I couldn’t get by him. It would have been nice to be second but at least we got some valuable points for the team. McLaren didn’t score any points and I think we scored seven points, so it wasn’t too bad overall. I’m definitely a bit disappointed because being in first place in the first corner but then being pushed out didn’t help and being in the front could have given us a better result but anyhow, that’s racing.

Q. (Fréderic Ferret – L’Equipe) Question to Kimi and Robert: you’re still in the battle for the championship, how do you rate your chances?

KR: I don’t even know the points’ situation now. There’s always a chance. It’s not going to be easy but we saw today that the guys in front of us were quite excited. Anything can happen, they can crash again and we could end up in front. But I’m in the worst position out of the four guys. I saw last year that things can go right or wrong, so we keep pushing and trying.

RK: I think you at least have to try, there is nothing to lose; as Kimi says, everything is possible. I think Kimi showed last year that anything is possible. The difference is that I have two guys in front of me, not one and at normal pace it’s no secret that we are not as fast as Massa and Hamilton, so life is a bit more difficult but everything can still happen.

Q. (Heikki Kulta – Turun Sanomat) To Robert and Kimi: you had a similar fight in Hockenheim with bad tyres. How hard is it to keep Kimi behind and for Kimi: is Robert the most difficult guy to try to overtake?

KR: I think all of them are more or less similar. Some are a bit more aggressive but it depends a lot on how your car is handling at that stage of the race and on different circuits. Sometimes you have a lot of difficulties and sometimes it’s easier to get past people but I think the differences are not very big and on this kind of circuit, you probably have one or two places to overtake. I couldn’t get close enough, early enough. It was a good fight but I lost it, so next time I try again.

RK: From my point of view it was not so easy but I knew that it was only possible for him to overtake me under braking into the first corner. I was trying to exit the last corner as fast as possible to get as much speed as possible but of course with the tow he was catching me. I had quite a lot of problems with graining, so I was hoping the graining phase would soon finish, so I was also trying to clean the front tyres with quite aggressive driving into the hairpin, just to try to pull out of this graining phase. For four or five laps it was very difficult and then I was able to pull away and that was that.

Q. (Fréderic Ferret – L’Equipe) Kimi, were you surprised to be doing the same lap times as Robert ahead of you in the second stint? Do you think that had something to do with the damage to the front end of the car?

KR: As I said, we hoped to have a little more speed today. I was catching up sometimes and just as the car started to get a bit better I got stuck behind Barrichello in the first part of the lap. I lost around a second at least. It was a crucial moment. And then at the end, just before the pit stop, I caught up Robert a lot but it was a bit too late. It was a close fight but I just didn’t have the speed to beat him today. For sure, we expected to have a faster car in the race but it didn’t happen today.

Q. (Livio Oricchio – O Estado de Sao Paulo) To all drivers: the stewards decided to give Lewis Hamilton a drive-through penalty for what happened at the start. Do you consider that was fair?

FA: I agree.

KR: I don’t know. I didn’t see the whole thing. I only saw him when he came up next to me. I’m not sure if he hit me or not but they make their decisions, so I have nothing against it.

RK: I don’t know what happened in the first corner, so it’s difficult to judge.

Ferrari Team Quotes

Kimi Raikkonen – 3rd: "Even if third place has put
an end to a run of poor results, I am a bit disappointed because today
we had the means to win. At the start, I got away well but then, at the
first corner, the two McLarens arrived too fast at the braking point
and prevented me from turning in, taking me off the track. That lost me
a lot of ground and I found myself in the middle of the pack. On top of
that, the car was not quite right as I was hit by one of the McLarens:
the steering was a bit light and there was other damage as well.

"I tried to do the best I could but I was not as quick as I’d hoped,
especially in the second stint. Before the second stop, I closed on
Kubica but I couldn’t pass him in the pit stop because on my in lap I
found myself behind Rosberg a lap down. Then I tried several times to
attack Robert but he defended his position well. At one point, I did
find myself slightly ahead of him going into Turn 3, but I was on the
outside and he did not give up the line so I had to go off the track.
After that, I had a bit of graining and so I was not able to catch up
again. In any case, I am happy to have brought home important points
for the team."

Stefano Domenicali: "Today, our Brazilian drove an amazing race, with an incredible
climb up the order, some great passing moves, showing great maturity.
Kimi drove a good race, taking a nice third place which puts an end to
a bad run for him which had been going on too long, and brings home
important points for the team. His car was not quite right after the
collision with a McLaren at the first corner and then he was nearly
always having to fight in traffic. Indeed, a backmarker at the crucial
moment before his second stop meant he lost the chance to rejoin the
track in second place.

"I want to congratulate all the guys in the pit crew. After what
happened in Singapore they were definitely under pressure but they
worked very well. Now we head immediately for Shanghai for the Chinese
Grand Prix. Our aim remains the same: we will continue to work hard and
with determination to get the best possible result."

Luca Baldisserri: "Definitely a difficult race,
affected by what went wrong at the start. A shame as we had a great
potential, as we went on to demonstrate during the race. In particular,
Felipe put on a great performance, with incredible lap times. Kimi did
his own race but was struggling a bit in the second stint, unable to
stick with Kubica. He would however, possibly have managed to pass him
at the pit stop, if he had not got stuck in traffic on his in lap.

We kind of expected Hamilton to do something stupid… well, not something stupid exactly, but to ruin Kimi’s race. Unfortunately, he didn’t disappoint. *sigh* The idiot. Grrrr.Do you have a clip of that look Kimi sends Hamilton? It was great. 😀 We’d love to see it again, hehe.Kimi managed to turn a potentially awful race (because of Hamilton) into a pretty good race. Of course, it could have been better, but it also could have been worse- we’re glad that Kimi made it the best that he could, though. It really annoyed us when ITV said that Kimi should do a "Hamilton-esque move" on Kubica. Like Kimi’s stupid enough to do that. And Haug should eat his words- after saying Kimi would try to spoil their race, it was both the Mclarens who spoiled Kimi’s.

Hi Pippa and Chiara! :)ITV said that? Kimi should do a Hamilton-esque move? Are they flipping serious?! OMG! Yeah, they really want Kimi to suffer more don’t they…they’re having a laugh. Bastards. I haven’t got a clip of the pre-start thing, it’s nothing much, just showing Hamilton the car with Kimi in the background looking his way.3rd place is good for a bad start, you’re right. It could have been worse and I could have killed someone…Haug should know better, Kimi is the most clean and fair driver out there and never does anything risky. He drove for you, Mr Haug. He put up with your shit Mercedes for 5 years, remember? Kimi may be driving for Ferrari, but he drives with values – being fair.

@Saima, Excellent review again!!!  :)))   It’s so great that you can describe so well what everyone of us fans would want to say and even more….  That dirty Hamster cracked under the pressure again… stupid idiot…. but I laughed when Massa hit him and he spin.

ITV cut the press conference again so I didn’t know Kimi was hit by both of the McClaren… that’s why he lost some pace and could’nt overtake Kubica.  His tyres look preety worn-out too…  So I’m relatively happy that Kimi can get the 3rd place.  At least we got to see him smile on the Podium.  Go Kimi!!!!  Keep Smiling and Flying Kimi!!!  Keep smiling and flying Evenstar!!!!

Thanks! I was worried I swear too much…sorry guys about that lol
You can see in the picture from this article that Kova is clearly very close to Kimi, so he obviously touched Kimi there before turning right:

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/71352

When Hamilton turned into Kimi – you can see Kimi suddenly turn left
to avoid being hit, but I can’t tell either if there was contact, it’s
a bit blurry. Kimi said there was, so he can’t be lying? Here’s a screenshot of Hamilton and Kimi where I think is the closest they were for contact:

Hamilton must have just brushed Kimi’s wheel there. But it was quite
fast. So that’s why Kimi said both cars hit him. Hit, touch, same
thing. I’m sure he never implied it was intended, on Heikki’s part at
    least.

as usual, i love to read your comments Saima! I’m not able to express myself in english like i would like so it’s a real pleasure to read my feelings expressed in your comments ! Our man did what he could with those circumstances! What a disppointement again! He could win, that’s sure! Still so proud of him, and this time, no mistakes, at least he could save good points! That’s great to see : our fair and amazing guy on the podium! A wonderful champion!
and for Hamster, you’re right he deserves a special penalty for what he did, he’s still stupid and childish! What a shame!
sorry for the rant too, but it helps to feel better! lol! and that’s easier in my mother tongue!
no smooth week end for our favorit, but a good one at least! a great fight!

Finally, a race with something for us to Cheer and Jeer about !! HURRAY to Kimi’s podium finish after the last 4 non-scoring races. Cheers also to Alonso, displaying why he is worthy of the double world champion title, and Kubica for quietly doing his job outside the radar of many commentators. And of course, JEERS to Hammie, who could not accept that Kimi got the better get-away than him, and reacted in the only way he knows how – rams everyone else out of the way (including his luckless team mate), only this time, to his own detriment ! Ha! HA ! HAH!
It’s good to read that I’m not the only one screaming out loud when Kimi led, then immediately cursing Louie at his monumental stupidity which effectively ruined Kimi’s chance of a win. Kimi’s out of the championship now, which is a pity, but personally, I hope Kubica steals it from under both the main contenders, despite what I posted after the Singapore GP because I think if anyone, Robert deserves it more than the other 2.
And yes, I also noted with surprise that the ITV commentators questioned why Kimi didn’t pull a "Hamilton-esque" move on Kubica, to which I yelled "..because he’s not a bully, or dirty or unfair racer like Hammie, you idiots!" It’s ironic that James alluded that perhaps  Kimi will be the "bully" at the start when the camera captured the sideway look he gave Lewis (very much like in the old western movies). Did anyone also note the unenthusiastic voices of both Martin and James once Louie is not in point scoring position?? We didn’t get any footage of the podium finishers climbing out of their cars either! hHHhhmmmHH!!
As a footnote, I feel sorry for Bourdais, whom I regard, did nothing wrong when he protected his line coming out of the pits and should not yield just because there’s a red car cutting into him. Massa, as usual, underperforms when he is not "up there".
Finally, did anyone notice Kimi was the first to reach for his champagne bottle ? Yeah, we empathise, it’s been a long time between drinks !! Cheers, Kimi!

Good wink Trixie! i noticed that too, yes, cheers Kimi! you deserve it!
and i feel exactly like you Saima, a little ashamed to be so angry when our Kimi is so calm! that’s our man! but you have said before that’s our job, no? so we can be angry for him and can rant too! for him, to lighten him!
and i would like to add that finally, the best person who could take a revenge for Kimi was well his team mate, no?
it is the cherry on the cake!
Keep being stupid Hamster and keep being medium Massa!

Excellent review Evenstar…you took everything I was thinking and put it into words and more. Brilliant.  What a start, I just loved that stare from Kimi over to the hamster, it was brilliant, and his start was phenomenal, just what we expect from him on the front row.  The next few seconds total disbelief, I bit my lip and kept in all the words I wanted to scream at the TV as I was being as well behaved as I could in front of my son, but he told me off for what I called Hamilton anyway.  Everyone has said it already but seriously how much of an idiot is that guy?  None of us are as well restrained as Kimi is, his post race comments were so calm, but subdued, you could feel how upset he really was, he knows he was robbed of a win…again. Massa was obviously bitten with the same stupidity as Hamilton today as well. What planet was he on?  I have to admit to laughing out loud when he spun the hamster round and he had to wait for the whole field to pass, it was a small piece of race justice being handed out for what happened at the beginning…what goes around comes around Hamster!   Mind you Massa just kept on doing it, I feel sorry for Bordais being the one who was penalised for the incident with Massa, I think he more than did his best to keep (get) out of Massa’s way, it seems most unfair that Massa inherits another point out of it, and then there was the overtaking move on Webber near the end which was just a bit insane as well.  Red mist seems to have descended over both of them…with any luck it could keep up and hand the title to Kubica.  :)Despite Kimi not finishing first it was good to see him back on the podium where he belongs and I hope it keeps going for the final two races for the season.   Hey Trixie, did you notice not only did Kimi pick up his champagne first but instead of spraying it he drank some first?  It has definitely been too long between drinks. We were lucky to have a much better commentary than you did…this week we had Karun Chandhok the GP2 driver as co-commentator, who gave a much more balanced opinion of what happened out there.  We also got to see the whole of the post race press conference, just as well.

I think that Hamilton should not be allowed to receive the Championship 2008 based on his negative behaviour to have resulted in other’s failures.

Hello everyone! Just woke up, the race was very early for me(at 2:30am), hehe……Well what else can I add to Saima´s amazing review, and to all of your comments? Hamster is a loser, freaked out when he saw Kimi passing him so easily, he decided to attack in the most stupid way, almost taking out half the field with him. And when Massa hit him I laughed so hard, I shouted "good one Felipe, at least you´re doing something right for a change!!!" ;p The race was brilliant IMO, even if Kimster didn´t win…..he tried very hard, and even more props to him after learning he drove the entire race with a damaged car(thanks a lot Lewser!).There was some serious overtaking going on and that final battle between Kimi and Kubica was great! Alonso just blew my mind, I mean, two wins….IN A ROW, with a car that´s not the best thing, congrats to him…….oh, and dear Robert, congrats to him too, I´m hoping he´ll win WDC in the end from both these losers, by quietly scoring the points he needs, he´s only like 12 behind, right? There´s no point for me in getting angry at Hamster, this is what he does when he´s not comparing himself to MS or Senna……HE SCREWS UP, CRACKS UNDER PRESSURE, IS STUPID!!! A LOSER!!! And all this came after he said he would drive conservatively to score important points and not risk anything, hahahaha, it´s laughable really, immature a**hole!Bourdais´ penalty totally unfair IMO, and I trully believe McLaren swapped engines between Heikki and Lewis, Hamster´s was the one supposed to give up(all the sites were saying this, Peter White…), but he didn´t score anyway….And Evenstar, don´t feel bad for ranting or cursing, I like it when you do…..I know you´d prefer to be more "cool" like Kimi, but we can´t, we´re passionate fans, and maybe what he´s not expressing with bad words, we do for him! ;pKEEP FLYING KIMI – KEEP FLYING EVENSTAR!!!p.s to maryline: translation please to what you wrote in French, I´m sure it´s a priceless curse for Hamster in French, but please do share, here or on the forum :p (Or send me a private message, really I want to know badly)

HaHa….Tixie and Blackcat… I noticed Kimi reached for the bottle first :)) but I was not surprised he drank first befor he spray – he always did that, never fail…. He’s a Finn, you know ;D  The only time he didn’t enjoy the drink was in Bahrain, he had a sip of that sparking juce and handed the bottle to his team boss.  Hahaha…

Oh my! What a race! The bully comment by Allen annoyed me, I’m sorry but the only bully out
on that racetrack is your little darling (and maybe DC, but that’s
another story). I was so happy when I saw Kimi had Hamilton into the first corner, until the brainless petulant child struck again! But I laughed sooo hard when him and Massa collided, I knew Massa would be penalised, but was quite surprised when they did Hamilton too, I’ve don’t remember them ever giving out penalties for first corner incidents before, not that I’m complaining mind. So Golden Boy ruins another of Kimi’s races, why am I not surprised. Although he wasn’t helped by backmarkers today either, Rosberg in particular. As for ITV, well I expect nothing but bias from their coverage, so I’m never disappointed anymore, I half expected them to cut the post race press conference anyway, and they did.I don’t get Bourdais’ penalty, where was he supposed to go, he can’t just magically make himself disappear and if Massa didn’t leave him enough room how does that make it Bourdais’ fault? Stupid. Personally, I’m going to be supporting Kubica for the title now, neither Massa nor Hamilton deserve it in my opinion. Both are idiots. But major kudos to Alonso again, wasn’t expecting that win at all.I also saw Kimi swig the champers first, I was waiting for it, did make me laugh that he seemed almost desperate to start on it!!! Oh and Sol, I don’t know most of Marilyne’s post, but I do understand the last word loud and clear….sh*t!!!

Such a shame that that asshole had to ruin Kimi’s race.  Our boy apparently sustained much damage from the melee after the start (which that mofo instigated!)… Kimi did say something about the "front getting away from" him and the car just not being the same after Heikki hit him hard.  People are mentioning other things damaged in Kimi’s car in the official forum… we had no idea that the car was damaged to that extent, which makes Kimi’s drive even more brilliant.  Would’ve wanted to see him set the fastest lap but it probably just wasn’t possible because of the damage to the car.Marilyne, I’d like to know what that French bit means, too 🙂

i was really angry… like most of all!!! i agree Nicki, sure he’s brainless! this is afflicting!

    Lewis Fan Here.
Well, yes.  Brilliant drive by Kimi, stupid drive by Massa, Ferrari now beaten by four different drivers this season, not including McLarens. Amazing season.
Lewis.  Well he tries but sometimes the hype around him seems to get the better of him. This is not how he got to the F2 championship.  Perhaps it is just the Hype.
There were others with near bald tyres, Lewis’s fronts looked grooveless at one change, RedBull too.
Ferrari, not as fast as expected, but less wear than most. Interesting.
Two to go.  The race is now on big time. Will he NOT cock up, will Kubica fluke it, will Kimi pull over to ler Massa win the championship and not get his name in the history books for a race win.
love from a slightly bruised Lewis fan. Really I just like RACING. Kimi and Lewis are the best this year, others are looking to challenge that.

Well, to OldWalde a truly Hamilton fan: after sometime after the race, I think we are more or less settled down, cooled, and yes, Massa hit Hamilton awkwardly and I cannot tell whether it is ‘deliberately’ as Hamilton asserted. But his stupid and unnecessary move at the start towards Kimi directly ruined Iceman’s chance, so the ‘Hype’ is a bit too exaggerated. He need to be more ‘prudent’ next time as his Boss Dennis now acknowledged him for the first time! Wondering if he could really learn this lesson given his so far poor credit.
Forgive me for any offense, I don’t think Hamilton is one of the best driver in the field,at least for the time being. aggresive, yes;some beautiful moves, yes; But aside Monza, he played little thing trully impressive, and it is hard to really evaluate his performance since his car never failed him so far. speak with behavior instead of words!

McLaren have seriously annoyed me, regarding Hamilton.

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/71381

I can gurantee you they wouldn’t be so vocal in their support if it were another driver.

I was saying yesterday I even felt slightely sorry for Hamilton when he
had to face the press, on ITV after the race. They all make mistakes,
Kimi has made his share of mistakes, particularly in 2003 when he was
young and challenging for the championship. He’s a racer, Hamilton’s a
    racer, we all know that.

But that doesn’t justify his idiocy. He’s done so many wrong things
in his racing. By wrong, I’m speaking about in relations to the rules
and respect of F1 drivers. Hamilton seems to have no regard whatsoever,
and Glock, Kubica, Alonso, Trulli and probably more have voiced their
opinions about Hamilton’s driving and his name will continuously pop up
in driver meetings. In response, Hamilton said in the qualifying
conference at Japan that he does his talking on track. Yes, you
    certainly do….

In the recent races his driving is becoming more and more
unbearable and now, finally, he’s facing the consquences as a result as
well as others, such as Kimi yesterday. And it’s becoming clear by each
week – Hamilton’s attitude is harming his talent, which is sad to see.
He fears Kimi for some reason, he insulted Kimi after Spa claiming he
doesn’t have the balls to brake late for example. Hamilton sure had the
balls to brake late yesterday didn’t he? How many more times will his
    words bite him back?

And dare I say, it would be nice is bad driving actually warranted
deducted points from the driver in the championship – and I can tell
you he’s done more bad driving than good this year.

We love racing, we support drivers to race with their hearts but this
is F1 too. It’s heavily regulated and you’ve got to be smart and
respect other drivers. Hamilton didn’t like Kimi getting straight
infront of him yesterday, but instead of being smart about it, he let
his nerves get the better of him, even after saying he’s learnt his
lessons from last year? Has he really? It doesn’t look like it, infact,
he seems to be driving worse. I’m not bashing Lewis here, but
criticising his behaviour as other respected drivers are already
    stating.

@Saima, I agree 100% with you.  I think Hamilton is a bully, a spoiled selfish brat who has no respect for any other drivers or the rules.  I don’t care how good he can drive or talk… but with those dirty tricks he play and the attitude he has I think he’s not even qualify to be a F1 driver.

This is my first comment, but I have been on this site many times, I am a Kimi fan and I think Lewis is an idiot. When I saw Kimi’s look at Hamilton I knew he would get him at the start! He did but Hamilton showed us how not to break late, he locked up waring the tyres out in 1 corner. I would love to have seen him in 2005 as you can’t change tyres! His move was just stupid, he nearly took Heikki off then he pushed him and Kimi wide, Heikki then hit Kimi which was Lewis’ fault, then half the pack went wide. Lewis could have caused a pile-up, so he deserved a penalty. Becasuse of the first corner Kimi was damaged and went from 1st to 7th, all Lewis’ fault. I was glad Massa got Lewis back but I knew he would get a penalty too. When Lewis was spun, a few cars passes him on the outside, so again his comment "no one overtakes me around the outside" has been disproved (but it already has several times!) I think Lewis should just shut his mouth, his words just make peoples impressions of hi worse! Kimi would have won if he wasn’t damaged; I just hope he get’s at least 1 more fastest lap, that will make me happy!

About McLarens comment, they have changed their attitude, before they didn’t want him to go all out, now they do! They just said that they want Lewis to crash out of all the remaining races or just ruin his race and get 0 points!

I like this comment by Alonso about the Championship…http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/71379…don’t see what he can do though, maybe take him out?

Hiya Charlie!Last year, China was a disaster for Hamilton and McLaren. It might happen again.Alonso can’t do anything stupid. He knows he’ll risk getting a penalty or even disqualification if he deliberately takes anyone out to interfere with the championship. The FIA will have taken note of his claim of support….He can only hand his position to Massa or Kubica, nothing more. He might try to disguise that by running wide somewhere, I dunno!China will be a race not to miss.Hope you post around more this weekend! cheers 🙂
