Singapore GP – Kimi Raikkonen Video Preview & Column

https://i0.wp.com/i11.photobucket.com/albums/a188/SaimaAzam/Misc/krsevenstarsmall3.png That’s a nice treat for a change! What do you think Singapore will bring? Let’s hear the latest from Kimi on the championship situation, in his Singapore preview column, translated from it’s original Finnish language by ‘Nicole’. The picture is taken at a Tag Heuer promotion and you can see more great fan shots here.

Kimi:
BETTER LATE THAN…

img135/1056/3500x249082lx9.jpg

The situation in the Championship is what it is. This boy here can’t
afford to stare at anything else than winning. I’m going flat out race
by race so that I could win. Afterall this is only racing and you never
know how suddenly everything can change.

It’s the same phrase I’ve been repeating here for a longer time. I go to win every time.

That’s just how it is. It’s no use to go there and drive in circles. It wouldn’t make any sense.

Tests after Monza were encouraging. I was at least the fastest one
the day I drove when there was no one else on the track. We got to do a
lot of work and progressed in those areas we were supposed to progess
in.

This week I’ve been working in Dubai for cooperation
companions.I’ve got this nice itch all the time when thinking about
Singapore and the new challenges it offers. I’ve been waiting for it
ever since I heard that a different race like that is going to become
true.

Night race is cool. It’s not like a jump into the darkness because
the bikes drove their first race in the spring during the evening. It
looked really cool. Because I’m a nightfly by normal, like to sleep
long and the body is awake in the evenings, a GP weekend with this
schedule will fit me for sure.

It’s all the same when the start is. When the lights go out you
already have so much adrenalin when you start looping the race. No need
to try any extra fuck ups.

Everybody says that it will rain in Singapore during the evening.
We’ll see it then. No need to stress over it beforehand and then again
it’s again the same weather for everyone. Our engineers have done a lot
of work so that we would get the temperatures into the tyres in every
situation. Felipe got to drive in rain when testing in Mugello. We’ll
see if we have done any progress about that when we are all again at
the same time on the track.

I’m not that worried about the car. When you get the tyres into the
right temperature, then the balance is ok. Then it’s not so difficult
to make a tough laptime during the race.

I believe that we have a good lunch in our backpack so that we can drive for the win in Singapore.

Although this year’s results don’t show it, I still dig the street
races. It’s the thing when you can drive flat out in the gutter spout.
Now I drove for one day in Ferrari’s simulator the Singapore track.
Just to see how the corners go, it didn’t help with much more. It can
never be compared to real driving.

Four races to go. It still is almost a fourth of the season. My
chances for the WDC is totally up to the others. If they get prizes, I
won’t catch them. I will try and I will hope.

Last season we found a great setup halfway during the season and
were able to win many races. Now we have been a little behind that
schedule but we haven’t given up anything. We work at full blast so
that the car would be the way we have always wanted it to be.

In Singapore we will see where we are going at the moment.

Hiya! Kimi is upbeat as always! I´m hoping this new track will bring excitement, lots of fun, OVERTAKING, and a well deserved podium finish for Kimi(DNF´s for Felipe and Hamster wouldn´t be bad either LOL), but seriously, I just don´t want to see another booooring race, we´ve had far too many this year….and please….NO RAIN!!!Keep flying Kimi – Keep flying Evenstar!!!:p

I was just saying in the chat area that according to this article and the quotes we’ve already seen, Domenicali
expects both Kimi and Felipe to work for the TEAM’s best interests: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/70803, which is confusing. They either totally work for Massa to win the title
or they don’t. As long as Kimi and Massa keep scoring points then the
constructors title should be safe. all this team team team talk is annoying and confusing. and the fact that Kimi has said he doesn’t have the championship under
HIS control anymore, clearly proves that Ferrari are using team orders
already in benefit for Massa. All Kimi can do is win, that’s all that matters he says. I don’t know
how he’ll do it if the ‘team’ are implying he’ll have to help Massa win. Why can’t Ferrari just say it? That as long as Kimi and Felipe score more points than McLaren drivers, both championships should stay in their hands. Not all this confusing ‘for the team’, with Montezemolo saying something else like Kimi will help Massa for the title etcFirst of all, they need to actually look at Massa’s situation. He’s only 1 point behind. Kimi is what… 23 points behind? Kimi can win races with Massa coming second or third, because
Massa is only 1 point behind Hamilton, not like how Kimi was 17 points behind last year. Massa doesn’t desperately need Kimi’s help to
win to get ahead of Hamilton in the title. So, Kimi has every right to fight for the win and for himself, the
team only have to ensure the Ferrari drivers keep both McLaren drivers
behind them. I’m supporting Kimi for himself, not Ferrari. If Kimi wants to win, he should be given the chances to. He does NOT need to sacrifice his own chances of winning races, just for Massa’s title chances. Massa does not NEED that kind of help. Yet. All Massa needs to do is finish the races higher than Hamilton. That can be in 3rd, 5th, 6th places. It’s 1 point deficit we’re talking about. If Kimi’s races go well and he’s way up the grid and leading the race for example, and Massa is in 4th place with Hamilton behind in 5th, then Kimi does NOT have to sacrifice anything. If Hamilton is leading the race and Kimi is 2nd and Massa 3rd, then of course Massa needs to be 2nd, so Kimi should drop his position (if the point situation desperately requires so.)I’m sick and tired of it all, to be honest. I don’t want to hear anything about it. I’ll watch the F1 this weekend with the volume off, because ITV are so gonna have a laugh about Kimi losing the title. I don’t care, just want to see Kimi happy, winning races.I miss Kimi already. He’s at Singapore today and I haven’t seen him properly. I wish I could be around 100% like I used to, during this strange time. I feel sad. Bit pathetic I guess. You guys have to keep the moods high here, please, if I can’t. It really would be great.

Cheer up Saima! We´re here for you, don´t ever forget that, and as you can see the chat has been very lively, there´re new members and all, so don´t worry, and DON´T feel guilty, enjoy this time you have for yourself (even if you´d rather spend it doing things for the site and Kimi).I enjoyed what you said very much; I was confused by that whole "teeeaaam" thing too, I kept wondering, "does it mean he has to help Felipe?"(not that again ;p) or that he can still race freely? Because as you so correctly explained, with that one point difference between Massa and Hamster, Felipe DOES NOT need any help, so Kimi can fight for wins for his own.Ferrari have made a mess with this, who is nr.1, who is nr.2, blah, blah, blah; let´s hope in the end they don´t mess it up royally, like McLaren did last year, trying to choose who was their nr.1 (clearly it had to be Fernando, but nooo, there was little Hamster!), there´s where I think McLaren lost the titles, apart from Hamster cracking under pressure.Kimi is entitled (being the world champion) and should be allowed to race freely PERIOD!KEEP FLYING KIMSTER – KEEP FLYING EVENSTAR!!!

I’m so sad to hear that you are down about everything.  This "team" business is really quite strange, I get the feeling that Kimi is being very diplomatic in what he says and so are the team. They seem to be leaving a few options open, we all know that Massa can easily fall in a hole and no amount of "help" from Kimi will save him. Ferrari want the Constructors championship and they need both drivers up there at the top to do that.  I have to admit that our telecasts here are not quite as biased as the UK ITV ones are (we do get to see some of that as well) but they are still quite bad. I got up and walked out during the Italian race because of some of the stupid comments I couldn’t handle it any longer.  There was at least one redeeming feature for me the co-host may have been English but he wasn’t at all anti-Kimi pro-Hamster and was really quite fair across the board. In fact he got stuck in to him about the overtaking move with Webber and the others too.  He was talking up how fast Kimi was in the closing stages too.  I hope this guy hangs around it makes a big difference to viewing (don’t for the life of me know who he was though)  I can really understand how you would get sick of the constant barrage about it all. Keep smiling and flying too.

Wow, Blackcat, that’s interesting to hear from where you are (Singapore?). I’m just so relieved our F1 coverage is changing from ITV to BBC next year. Still not 100% sure how less biased and sensational they will be though…@Sol: Thanks girlie. Sorry for ranting off like that. I’ll be coming back home tomorrow afternoon (it’s nearly evening here now) so hopefully I’ll feel less miserable lol I go back to uni on Monday so…you can imagine why I feel sad already, as this is the last weekend I can passionately follow with you guys.

I think Domenicali didn’t really know what he was talking about, my guess is this is the first year he’s in charge and so many things has gone wrong… so he’s a bit desperate trying to save his axx but he doesn’t really know how to handle the situation.  The only way Ferrari can win both titles is to have 2 strong drivers who can win races, so if Kimi or Massa can win then it will be in Ferrari’s best interest.  All Kimi want is to win races, So I think it doesn’t really matter what Domenicali or any other people said, it will not change or affect Kimi at all.

I like what Blackcat said, let’s Keep smiling and flying…

@Saima, take care and hope you feel better soon….  :))

HI guys, i think firstly i have to acknowledge Saima’s great dedication and love for F1, Kimi and us fans. Inspite of taking a step back, look how updated this place always is. And I think she is away from home as well but still she’s brilliant with her work… hats off to you young lady…
Coming back to the team situation, all Massa needs to do is to bump into Hamster whenever, wherever he finds him.. that’s all he will do because both these nuts are cracking under pressure, as Peter noted in his column, Hamster is showing awful signs of depression with his feet and hands unvieling pathetic manoeuvres during interviews and his rash comments regarding fellow drivers(the ‘balls’ comments) that made many people sick around the world…

Although I should admit both are good racing drivers and since I love F1 dearly i love ’em as well but compared to Kimi’s humble nature and personality and self control, I would say these two are no way near…  Kimi could easily be a psychiatrist and a very fast racing driver as well..
