Testing: Jerez – Webber Fastest, Piquet 2nd, Kimi 3rd

From Autosport.com and FerrariWorld.com

Mark Webber kept Red Bull machinery at the top of the timesheets in
Jerez when he led the way on the third day of this week’s test at the
Spanish track.

With Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Vettel having been fastest on
the first two days of running, it was Webber’s turn to emerge in front
when he edged out Nelson Piquet’s Renault by just more than two tenths
of a second. Both drivers used slick tyres to set their best times.

Fresh from his podium finish in the German Grand Prix, Piquet was
reminded how tough things can be in F1 went he went off at Turn Nine –
clouting the wall slightly with the left-had side of his car to bring
out a red flag.

completed the day without running a shark fin engine cover, but Ferrari
are expected to run with the new part tomorrow when Felipe Massa takes
over.

The Finn continued working on comparisons between various different
set-up options on the F2008, in preparation for the forthcoming races.
At the end of the day Kimi did a run on next season’s Bridgestone
tyres. The reigning World Champion covered a total of 84 laps, the
quickest in a time of 1.19.434.

"We have done many tests over
these two days to try and understand what happened at Hockenheim and
now we have a clearer idea on this matter," commented Kimi at the end
of the day.

"Today, the car had improved compared to yesterday and we
hope to be ready for the next rounds. Our opponents are very strong,
but there is still a long way to go in this championship and all the
time to recover, given that in Formula 1 things can change a lot in no
time at all."

Well lets hope that they’ve found whatever wrong way they went in development and are putting it right.I’ll be disappointed if they do bring in the shark fin though, they’re soo ugly! But I guess that anything that helps Ferrari win again….

Hi Saima! I didn´t know exactly where to post this in the forum, so I´ll post it here:Ferrari are testing the "shark fin" engine cover, and as Nicki said it´s horrible!, but hopefully it´ll give them more speed – http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/080725095842.shtmlAaaand, the FIA will do a "routine" inspection of Hamilton´s car, if it´s routine why not check Heikki´s while they´re at it? hmmm – http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/080725095516.shtml
