Video: Q&A with Dyer and Smedley

This is a short and fun video from Italian TV, kindly uploaded by TaniaS of the Official Kimi forum. Chris Dyer and Rob Smedley are Kimi’s and Felipe’s race engineers at Ferrari. They talk about the qualities of their drivers, give some suggestions, and also reveal some funny things about what goes on between them on track.

Apparently, Kimi is a bit fatter, or heavier as the translation titles on the video says, than Felipe! It always looked kinda obvious to me through the press conferences, where the others compared to Kimi look like little children, but Kimi has lost a lot of weight since when he was at McLaren (then 71.5kg to 65kg present). And it’s also mentioned by Chris Dyer that the occasion he was most shocked with his new driver was when Kimi wasn’t mad at Lewis Hamilton for blocking him on his qualifying lap for the season finale at Brazil last year. As ever, it’s a treat to get to know new things about Kimi and the relationships between a race engineer and his driver. So enjoy!

Hey Evenstar!!! Super fun video! Nice to see these two men are so relaxed and I was really surprised by how well they speak Italian (considering they´re both British, right?). They seem to really get along with their drivers.LOL moments: when Chris says Kimi is heavier than Felipe (that´s beacuse he´s taller!), and when Rob says one fault about Felipe: "he´s latin!" ;).Being a Latin myself I have to say I understand what he meant; we´re more passionate and get angry more quickly, even if it´s about nothing! ;).KEEP FLYING KIMI!!!

Chris Dyer is actually Australian, but he lives in Italy with his wife 🙂 Rob is my man, he’s from England and pretty cute lolI think having a fiery Latin and a cool Nordic in Ferrari is awesome.

Thank you Saima, such a fun video and so true – I love it!! I’m so glad I found your website, reading your comments..watching all the photos and video gave me strength and heal my sadness after the Monaco race.  Keep up the good work, we all depend on you!

Actually I agree with Chris Dyer’s comment about the "fault" of Kimi being heavier than Felipe.  I think this is the reason why Felipe can steal the pole position from Kimi even they drive the same car.

Looking forward to Canada race….YES!! KEEP FLYING KIMI!!!!

Thanks for the video, it’s great! Loved Dyer’s comment about Kimi not saying much unless there’s a slower car in front! Shame he didn’t elaborate as to what he says, unless of course it’s the same kind of language he used when they told him he’d won the title at Brazil, which needed cutting from the live tv feed!!!
