Ferrari Formula One team boss Stefano Domenicali has rubbished
speculation that Kimi Raikkonen could retire from Formula 1 with a
second consecutive world title.

The
28-year-old Finn and current championship leader’s contract runs out at
the end of 2009, and he is undecided about whether he will sign a new
one.

1982 world champion Keke Rosberg said last weekend that he
can imagine Raikkonen, who described his Barcelona victory as the most
perfect of his entire career, retiring in the near future.

His
now 9 point lead in the drivers’ classification has even sparked some
rumours that he might try to break his Ferrari contract and walk away
from the cockpit as early as after November’s Brazilian Grand Prix.

But
even though Raikkonen consistently refuses to commit to Formula One for
the long haul, Domenicali said retirement rumours surrounding the Finn
are "nonsense!"

"I have heard this rumour and there is not a gain of truth to it," he angrily told the Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell.

"Kimi is motivated from head to toe and I know that he is not thinking of retiring," he added.

Just because of a 9 point lead, people think Kimi would retire as soon as the season’s over? That’s hilarious! I couldn’t stop laughing when I read this. Hopefully it gives you a good laugh. We all know Kimi doesn’t think that like. After just reading his column, he seems pretty sure that his 9 point lead can crumble away in one bad race. And as long as he’s having fun, and he is, he won’t quit this year.

So funny haha!!! People just start making things up! And like Kimi said, everything can turn around in one race, so yes he´s leading the championship now, but there are still like 14 races to go, so as he would say "let´s wait and see". That´s the difference between Kimi & Ferrari and his main rivals, they don´t take anything for granted, and they know that they still have to keep improving and developing the car, and pushing as hard as they can; these people never give up, they didn´t last year and they certainly won´t this year. Kimi has often said that he´ll quit racing when he doesn´t enjoy it anymore or when he achieves all his goals. But he´s enjoying himself more than ever with Ferrari, in his own words: "I FELL IN LOVE WITH RACING AGAIN", so….Cheers Saima! Great desktops, I espeacially enjoyed the last one, the one you said was a bit cheesy, it´s not! It´s fabulous.
