The Morning After…and Updated

He took a sip of his drink even before the podium anthems got started. You can bet Kimi has a hangover…

Kimi has fun at a Jockey Club in Brazil

On Sunday night, Kimi went with his friends to celebrate in a club in Sao Paulo. Jean Todt was also present with his son Nicholas Todt (manager of Felipe) Later on, Felipe joined in on the party! Lots of smiling and drinking last night- Kimi is probably not feeling too good right now!

Did you all manage to sleep okay? I couldn’t because my head was hurting as my jaws were being clenched together all evening- it’s been so tense! Alas, with happiness comes some disturbance sometimes, and of all days it had to be the day Kimi won his first world championship. Here is the latest ongoings in the world of F1 which doesn’t seem to be tired of such a crazy and, to be honest, ridiculous season:

BMW and Williams were under investigation after they failed post-race inspections at the Brazillian Grand Prix. The FIA discovered that BMW’s and Williams ‘fuel usage was outside rules, using frozen fuel. Article 6.5.5 of the Formula One technical regulations states: "No fuel on board the car may be more than ten degrees centigrade below ambient temperature." Heidfeld’s fuel was 13 degrees centigrade lower than ambient at his first stop and 12 degrees centigrade lower at his second stop. While the FIA were locked in a room investigating, the media, particularly in Britain savoured the possibility of Lewis Hamilton having a chance of still winning the championship. If BMW and Williams, who finished the race ahead of Hamilton, were found to be disqualified from the results then Hamilton would be crowned the 2007 F1 World Champion, not Raikkonen.

Now, like most of you, I thought this farcical season was over when the fat lady sung – yesterday during the podium. But as ever common this year, the breaking of rules, the processes of investigations and over filled court rooms had to continue. Thankfully, BMW and Williams were not to be punished and the title is confirmed to Kimi. Looking at both sides from the FIA’s and the fans’ point of view, breaking a rule obviously deems some kind of punishment. Why did the FIA even bother to state the BMW and Williams cars’ were illegal in the first place, if there is no punishment? Again, the moderators of the sport don’t fail to amaze me. But don’t be relieved just yet – they like to take things into court remember. And despite claiming the temperature issues were too unclear, McLaren now appeal the FIA’s decision of no penalty. A date is yet to be set for the hearing, however, and meanwhile the fans of the winner of the Brazillian Grand Prix are left to face yet another farce.

The facts remain clear – Kimi won the race fair and square and made no mistakes whatsoever, and although we owe Massa credit for his fantastic performance too, Kimi did what he needed to warrant the lead of the race. It didn’t happen by default. He is the true champion, he steered clear of any problems apart from his own. He kept his head down and quietly got on with his job while the jokers and clowns of the sport made a mockery of the very meaning of Formula One and racing. At one point, the championship looked impossible for Kimi. Who could have achieved to turn it completely around? Despite having reliability issues costing him many points and against the bullet proof cars of his rivals, he still pulled it off. That’s the determination and ice-coolness of the Finn that we all adore and enjoy to see. And some people, drowned in their own sorrows of losing, would rather win it off the track.

Ferraris’ constructor’s title was decided in court after the spying scandal, when really McLaren earned it. Now it seems, God forbid, that the driver’s title will be decided in court, when the original driver earned it. I mean, is it the end of the world if Lewis isn’t shown to be the perfect amazing ‘rookie’ this year? He’s 22, he has atleast 10 years of energy left in him. If they crown him champion this way, they’re not only ruining it for the sport but for Lewis himself. But let’s hope Max Mosely packs it in just to annoy his bitter relationship with Ron Dennis even more. McLaren say they ‘had no choice’ but to appeal which is true because it’s a strange
decision of saying the cars were illegal but then not punishing them.
Unfortunatly, it goes against Kimi indirectly.

https://i0.wp.com/img525.imageshack.us/img525/7471/1193046970ao4.jpgAlonso hopes appeal is unsuccessful "It would be a joke, and we’ve had too many already," he told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser. "If something like that happened, it would end up burying the sport. It doesn’t seem like the season has been managed very well," Alonso said.

"The result speaks for itself. McLaren lost the championship probably because of some of the decisions they took, especially in the second half of the season. It’s no secret that they haven’t helped me a lot.
"
What my team boss stated in China, saying that they weren’t racing against Raikkonen but against me, was a declaration of intent. So McLaren did their part in losing the title, but also Ferrari did a better job than the rest.

https://i0.wp.com/img137.imageshack.us/img137/7128/1193079730am6.jpgHamilton doesn’t want a title won in appeal – "It would be wrong," said the 22-year-old Briton, still suffering
the effects of a heavy night out after letting the title slip from his
grasp by one point in Sunday’s season-ending race in Brazil.

"For me, I want to win it on the track," he told reporters in his
hotel room. "You want to do it in style, you want to win the race, you
want to win battling it out for the lead or something in the race. Being promoted after some people have been thrown out is not the way I want to do it."

"It would feel weird after Kimi did such a fantastic job in the last two races," he said. "He won yesterday and to have it taken away is a bit cruel and probably not good for the sport."

Di Montezemolo unruffled by appeal"It looks to me like it is a useless stress for everyone," he told Italian radio station RAI. "The regulations

say that even if some car gets disqualified, it doesn’t mean that the points are automatically given to the others," he said.

"Enough of that, let’s look ahead and let’s send professional stewards to the races instead of amateurs at large," he said.

"It must be said that the complexity of today’s cars creates difficulties in checks and verifications, from the electronics to the fuels, aerodynamics and everything else. Everything is about hundredths of seconds."

Schumacher applauds Raikkonen’s title"What an incredible finale, what a thrilling finish!" the former Ferrari driver said in a statement on his website after Raikkonen and Felipe Massa took the first two spots for Ferrari in Brazil to clinch the championship.

"I was so, so happy to see Kimi and Felipe leading the way across the finish line. I’ve always believed that you should never, ever give up and you should always keep fighting even when there’s only a slightest chance. Congratulations to Kimi and all our guys – that was a super performance," the German added.

"In retrospect, the only unfortunate part is that I wasn’t there myself," Schumacher said. "I would love to have celebrated with them all. But we’ll make up for that as soon as possible, and I’m really looking forward to that."

Italy hails Raikkonen and Ferrari"All so incredible but true," ran a headline in Monday’s Gazzetta dello Sport after the Finn won the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix to snatch the title by one point. "He wins the world championship

against all the predictions."

Raikkonen, who also won the previous race in China to help set up his first world crown, was praised by Italian president Giorgio Napolitano. "Compliments to Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa and all the team at Ferrari for an extraordinary victory in difficult circumstances," he said in a statement.

On a final note, I came across this comment from someone by of the name Cash and it’s probably the only one that can entirely reflect correctly on it all:

"Someone up there ensured justice was served, since the people down here couldnt do so".
