This weekend we head to Turkey, the first ever grand prix to be held in the country, in the beautiful city of Istanbul.
It will be Kimi’s first visit to Turkey, lets hope he will have a great weekend….
Go Mclaren!!!
Sunday, Race day, Turkish GP
Kimi Raikkonen is now two points closer to Fernando Alonso, after winning the first ever Turkish grand prix. Seems rather little after what should have been 4 points closer. This was compromised with the unbelievable last lap drama with Juan Pablo Montoya, Monteiro and Fernando. Juan passing a back marker Monteiro resulted in Monteiro braking into the back of Juan, breaking his diffuser. Thankfully Juan got back on the ball, making sure he keeps Alonso off, after losing a second out of the gap thanks to stupid Monteiro. However Alonso was now close behind Juan and now approaching the already lengendary turn Eight, Juan ran wide due to the broken diffuser and front tyre wear. Alonso sneaked past taking second place…
Oh what a last lap! What a disaster infact! Another 1-2 gone out the window for Mclaren. There hasnt been a 1-2 finish since five years ago with Mika and David. Congrats to Juan Pablo…although it is always a bitter sweet end for Mclaren.
But in the end….my dear Kimi won the race. How amazing this guy is, i can never answer. He drove a clean and tidy race from start to end.
Kimi’s start off pole was infact slow. He had to deal with both Renaults beside him, fighting eachother into turn 1,2 and 3. Kimi kept his head on, kept it cool, and towards turn 12 he took his first place back off Fisichella.
Superb Kimi! He never ceases to amaze me! The way he tackles first lap mayhem is just his talent. Most drivers would lose out on the first lap/first corner. But not Kimi, when he is on a roll, nothing at all can stop him…apart from his car lol
It was a great, fun, exciting race…but in the end, Alonso always manages to get his way, he manages to nick off someones place. Well that infact, might turn around
Keep Flying Kimi
Go Team Mclaren!!!
Saturday Qualifying Drama…as usual
What a start to the Turkish Weekend! Im very pleased with the amount of driver pressure this new track designed by Tilke has given F1 a great boost in excitement, after the long three week summer break. It just shows how demanding F1 can get for top racing drivers like Kimi, Fernando, Juan, Button etc etc.
The track started off very dusty, little grip which compromised all drivers who were out early for their lap. Juan Pablo Montoya respectively did a good job keeping it together on track, securing a 4th place grid position, so well done to him.
Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello had a difficult time. Their tyres just wont work, Bridgestone have alot of work to do for tomorrows big day. Michael seemed to be coping okay until he spun off at the chicane. A huge roar of the crowds show the enthusian of Turkey’s audience.
Jenson Button was on the cards to spoil Alonso’s chances. His car and himself were looking very strong, fast and suitable even for first row position. But the corners 6,7,8 have caused alot of drama for the drivers, and so it did for Jenson today. Sadly, that ruined his qualifying hopes.
As time passed, and cars went along, it was getting closer to Kimi’s turn…
The Renaults did a good job. This track is undoubtedly a tough track to learn, and any mistakes in qualifying will probably stay with the drivers forever. It really tests their knowledge of driving on new tracks, it tests their skills, most importantly it tests Kimi and Fernando. At a time like this, when they both are desperate for their first ever Title win, they must keep everything together. No mistakes, no pain. But we all know Kimi doesnt need to do a mistake to taste pain, poor guy…
However, both Kimi and Fernando have shown skill and determination today. They have truly marked their places as top F1 drivers, probably the best of their time (pushing Michael into the shadow hehehe)
Kimi although, has the upper hand this weekend. He is on TOP. With Fernando behind. It must stay like this.
A great job yet again from the IceMan…
God Speed Team Mclaren!!!!!
(Im in a good mood now!)
