Kimi Raikkonen wrapped up his second stint in the Ferrari SF-15T with another strong showing at the Circuit de Catalunya, declaring everything on the car ‘has improved’ over the winter.

Having raised eyebrows with its consistently good pace in Jerez, Ferrari has maintained its strong beginning to the year as Raikkonen picked up a brace of second place times on day one and two around the Spanish venue.

Indeed, though Raikkonen was frustrated to lose time with teething issues on the second day, he was still only 0.010secs shy of Daniel Ricciardo, ensuring he hasn’t completed any one of his four days in the car below second place.

“It was not an ideal day, we had some small issues we didn’t run as much as we wanted,” he conceded. “It was a bit of a trickier day but we tried some more things and we learned.

When asked how far he feels the car has progressed since the end of the 2014 season, Raikkonen says testing make it hard to gauge but he feels there has been a step forward in every area.

“It’s too early to say but we’re doing our own stuff and we’ve been pretty happy with how things have gone so far,” he continued. “Obviously there are still things to improve but so far it’s not so bad.

“Every area of the car – the engine, the packaging – everything has been improved. We are going in the right direction.”

Raikkonen will hand the car over to Sebastian Vettel for the remaining two days of the test.
