In Kimi’s debut Formula 1 season, he brought Sauber to their best finish in the points with 4th place at the 2001 Canadian GP. From then, he went on to take:
- 5 more point finishes
- 2 fastest laps
- 1 podium (2006)
- 1 win (2005)
In his last visit to Montreal in 2008, Kimi came close to fighting for victory in a chaotic race but this is what happened:

I do remember very well the 2008 race. I have to admit that I cursed out loud, when Hamilton crashed into Kimi. I still remember, what Kimi said in his finnish column after the race: “Puusilmä ajoi perään!”. In english that means something like: “Wooden eye run to my rear end!”
