Felipe Massa has been handed a new chassis for this weekend’s
Turkish Grand Prix as Ferrari set their sights on closing the gap to
title rivals McLaren.
Massa’s new car, chassis number 263, was shaken down by the
Maranello outfit in the summer break prior to being shipped to
Istanbul, where this weekend’s race takes place.
As well as preparing the new car, Ferrari have spent time in recent
weeks working on their operating procedures following the refuelling
error in Hungary qualifying that left Massa stranded in the pits.
The team reviewed numerous pit stop situations, and the pit crew
have been actively practicing their stops to ensure no repeat problems
in the future.
Well there you have it. I’ll have to be honest, the first thought that came to mind was ‘Ferrari have found the driver to back then’. If this new chassis was in on a bid to beat the McLarens, then why isn’t Kimi receiving the same? What good is beating one McLaren going to do? Beat both of them, duh… Although the article suggests the new chassis will help close the gap to the McLarens, we don’t even know if it’s just a new chassis as Massa’s may be worn out, or if there are updates on it. We’ll have to wait and see….
Massa eyes late-season title push < here, Massa says ""In fact, for this race, I will have a new chassis, which is not
especially significant, as it is normal for us to change chassis after
a certain number of races."
So, it’s not giving Massa the goods for the title, simply a new chassis. ![]()
