Luckily Kimi isn’t the politcal type, otherwise he may be taken off focus by this espionage drama currently going on. Just look at all these reports, they’re getting more big and more messy:
McLaren knowledge may spell disaster for team
Indeed, if there was awareness of this document and information being passed around, the FIA can do nothing other than have McLaren penalised for this. Whether it’s a fine, or championship points excluded, Ron Dennis may leave F1 sooner than we think.
Coughlan admits telling others about secrets
Now that it wasn’t just Coughlan in the dirt, it makes the whole thing even more serious. An Italian report here says that more McLaren employees knew of this, however Coughlan said they told him to destroy the information. What we do not know is whether McLaren did this after using the information or simply found out and demanded it to be removed out of their business. >>>McLaren: only Coughlan held documents
Now we hear that McLaren deny using or even knowing of the Ferrari documents.
Team has nothing to fear – Haug
They should because more and more truth is being found out each week and it has hardly been in favour for McLaren has it? Unfortunatly, they’ve been caught in the dirt but that doesn’t neccessarily mean they participated in manipulation of their car performance and results. Anyone remember Toyota in 2004 not being punished at all eventhough they obviously had an F2003 car as their 2004 challenger? But this is McLaren, Ferrari’s main 2007 rival and it seems they’re doing everything they can to get someone punished.
Stepney considers action over car chases
This seems a bit dodgey, don’t you think? Car chases? Bloody hell, there is a film being made about Bruce McLaren in New Zealand, but this scandel has everything for a movie. Possibility is that Stepney has been ‘framed’ or even used by Ferrari, ever since he voiced how unhappy he was at the team earlier this year. Now, I’m not exactly a journalist within the F1 paddocks on a sunday afternoon but I think it’s fair to say that there does seem to be some sort of dirty tactics involved, and I’m not surprised Ferrari have started it. But, what would have been their reason? They started this season way ahead of McLaren, but until Malaysia one week later things went down hill, due to Stepney’s interference perhaps?. It was also around that time in April when Coughlan and Stepney approached Honda, apparantly. And when all this came out into the open and Ferrari sacked Stepney, the team were suddenly back to winning, in front of McLaren.
Coulthard defends McLaren in spy row
Of course he would, and any true F1 fan would.
