< New Kimi Raikkonen Space logo (Evenstar Saima initials)When I made created this space, at the time I had no idea it would be what it is today (hence the out-of-place darkmaiden name hehe!). I decided in late 2006 that it would be the Official Kimi Raikkonen Windows Live Spaces and it has gone through many changes. Since then, this site has rocketed to over 50000 views in 6 months! (which is roughly about 9,500 views each month, thanks to you guys!).
So, I fancied another change for this website and being always inspired by Kimi in most things, I gave the header image another go. But this time it’s permanent. No, don’t worry, there’ll be more nice ones to come but they will all have a new logo, inspired from Kimi’s helmets (as you can see in the left corner of the website’s header). Kimi’s career means a lot to me (and to you guys) but to know I have some keen reader of this website is very heart warming. So I hope you like the new theme and continue visiting and share your thoughts on what is a very difficult yet interesting time for the Iceman.
Kimi has more control of his Ferrari! Finally.
Okay, back to the news. After the Silverstone test yesterday and with all the pressure and criticism of not sucking up to Michael Schumacher, Kimi is questioned by autosport.com and gives straightforward answers, as always…
Q & A with Kimi Raikkonen
also > Q & A with Felipe Massa (some interesting questions in there)
Q. You have been working on your preparations for Silverstone, how was it?
Kimi Raikkonen: "I think it was good. I think we were lucky
enough with the weather, I had almost a full day without rain, the car
seems to be good. I think we made a step (forward)."
Q. You have updates on the aerodynamics and also on the mechanical side too?
KR: "We tested a new aero package and some other new things,
and I think it is always difficult (to judge) in testing but it was
quite good, so we will see how it goes."
Q. How comfortable are you? You found a good set-up a couple of months ago but then something went wrong…
KR: "I think every day is different. The set-up I got today
is completely different (the next day). It is not that easy. I don’t
think you can find something which is going to work everywhere, but we
have a good car, so we have to find a good set-up and make best out of
it. So hopefully it works in the next race."
Q. What exactly went wrong in the last few races? Have you analysed them?
KR: "I think so. We did not get the results we wanted, but
fortunately we are going to change that. You know we had a pretty fast
car in the last race but we got stuck in traffic so I think if we have
a proper race I think we should be able to challenge McLaren for the
next race, that is our aim."
Q. In regards to the championship, how open is it for you, or for Ferrari?
KR: "I don’t think it is easy, that’s for sure, but there are some more races to go. I think we still have a chance, so let’s see."
Q. Are you surprised by Massa’s pace?
KR: "Not really, he had been fast in the winter, but he’s had some races which did not quite work, like me."
Q. How do you rate your performance so far?
KR: "That is as well. We had some difficult races just
because I was not happy with the things I could have. From now on we’ll
look strong."
Q. When will see you back on the podium?
KR: "Let’s see if we can win, that is what we are aiming for. I am tyring my best to win and but we’ll see where we end up."
Q. What is your target for the rest of the season?
KR: "I’ll try to win races."
Q. How undermining is it to have the presence of Michael Schumacher in a race weekend? Are you not disturbed by it?
KR: "Why should i? Why should I mind Michael? I am the driver, so it does not make any difference.
Q. Do you feel any difference from this aero package?
KR: "It is different, but the car is in different
configuration. It is a good step so hopefully we can bring it to the
next race. It is a good car now for sure, I am happy with it. We had a
good car throughout the day so we hopefully we can have a good car in
the coming week."
