Schumacher claims 85th Career Victory!
Michael Schumacher showed Alonso he isn’t sitting back and today’s race in San Marino was a complete inverse from last year’s race, as it was the Ferrari in front of the Renault. Michael had a clean decent start, keeping in lead, but not too far from Jenson Button. The Honda did look good enough to challenge for the win even, whereas Barrichello was disappointed again as he fell back, hopeless of any battle with the Renaults. The two McLaren’s had a very quiet start which ensued backwards for Kimi as Trulli and Webber overtook him. Montoya kept up with Ralf Schumacher in the Toyota, but that kept Montoya held up away from the leading Ferrari, Honda and Renault. The only crash of the race was of Christian Albers who was flipped over spectacularly by Super Aguri’s Ide, who seemed in Kamikaze mode.
Fernando Alonso lost his chance to overcome the Ferrari infront with a strategic error, which benefitted Michael instead as he jumped infront of Alonso in their last pit stops. The McLaren’s strategy seemed to disappoint again, with Kimi re-fuelling earlier than Alonso and Juan pablo shortly followed. Ron Dennis, Team McLaren Boss commented on Kimi’s race as "having to pay for his qualifying mistake". The Finn was on Massa’s tail in the other Ferrari right till the last corner of the race but overtaking is nearly impossible here in San Marino. The battle was on upfront, with Schumacher soaking up all the pressure Alonso threw at him, but it was no good to overcome the 7 time world champion.
It was the only battle for the win, as Jenson Button’s podium hopes deserted him with a complete disastrous pit stop which saw him fuel nozzle unremoved, with Jenson’s Honda dragging some of the crew along. The mistake come from a misjudgement of the lollipop man, who liften the stick before the nozzle was even off, and once the stick is up, the F1 car is off too. Jenson had himself sitting in the pit lane to let the crew remove the nozzle.
Montoya cruised his quiet race to the last step on the podium, with Team McLaren gaining 10 points all in all. Renault’s Fisichella finished in 8th place receiving just one point for Renault. Mark Webber claimed 6th place in a great effort and Jenson Button had to settle for 7th, after that pit drama.
So it was, that Michael Schumacher took all the glory of being in Ferrari territory including the overwhelming Tifosi, and it was a very happy time for the team. ![]()
For our team McLaren however….."We have work to do" indeed. But I still love you guys, and Kimi, yep you too. Don’t let this Ferrari win tempt you!
Saturday Qualifying :
Michael beats Senna’s Pole Record!!! (Liekwoa)
Qualifying ended on a high note for Ferrari with Michael Schumacher grabbing pole position being his 66th of his career, beating the late Aryton Senna. Michaels teammate Felipe Massa took fourth. In between the two were the Honda’s of Button and Barrichello who has finally got himself up to good form for Honda this year. A rather quiet bunch of Alonso, Montoya and Raikkonen settled for 5th, 7th and 8th positions. Alonso’s teammate Fisichella was suprisingly knocked out of the second session, leaving him holding 11th place.
Ralf Schumacher and his Toyota did a good effort together claiming 6th position, and his teammate held onto 9th. So Toyota are gaining up on their qualifying performances. However a bit of a mess for BMW Sauber, where Heidfeld was on course for setting the fastest time in session 2 but he spun of and hit the barrier, having to settle for 15th place. Villeneuve on the other hand has a little consolation for team in 12th place, just behind the Renault. Williams weren’t up to scratch with Rosberg, as he had a complete new set up, but he managed okay to keep 13th, whereas Webber wrapped up the top 10 grid. Coulthard did the best performance out of the Bullish Boys in 14th, followed by Liuzzi, Klien, Speed, Monteiro, Albers, Sato and finally Ide.
Unfortunatly, the writing above is so boring, I could have fallen asleep writing it myself. Apologies to readers. Let me engage into Evenstar mode:
OMFG the traffic in the qualifying sessions piss me off! While the Renaults and McLarens were stuck behind, the Ferrari’s were in front, burnt of some fuel, pitted and changed tyres and thats about it. The Honda’s did make an effort for themselves and to make the session a bit more exciting, the McLarens were appauling so both Kimi and Juan tried a lap each again, but only gained up 2/3 places. Ugh. At least they’re playing it safe and not bending the will of the car and having it blow up or break during the last like last year which was a complete disaster for Kimi as it would have been his first win of the season, but the idiot Alonso had to take the win
*deep breath*
Sadly, the above writing too ended full of bull as ever. I have work to do. Let me go![]()
But forever will I cheer on the Silver Arrows and they will reach glory, undimmed before the waking of a new born Champion.
Come on McLaren!!! Score as many points as you can!!! Juan and Kimi, please protect each other from yourselves!!!
