Kimi Raikkonen will make his asphalt rally debut in the Citroen C4
WRC on the Rally Lanterna in Italy next month.
Both Raikkonen and his Citroen Junior Team team-mate Sebastien Ogier
will contest the event, which starts with a superspecial on Friday June
11 and then includes eight asphalt stages on Saturday June 12.
The event is based just north of Genova and will offer Raikkonen a
first competitive outing in the C4 before his first sealed surface round
of the WRC in Bulgaria (July 8-11).
Ogier will start the Italian event as favourite for his first victory
in a Citroen C4 WRC, having just missed out on the recent Rally New
Zealand. Equally, Raikkonen’s Formula 1 experience will ensure he is
closer to the pace on asphalt and some of Raikkonen’s strongest stage
times have come on sealed surface stages this season.
Prior to the Italian event, both drivers will contest the Rally of
Portugal next week, starting with the roadshow superspecial in Porto on
Sunday afternoon.
