Ecclestone open to Silverstone return
Button blames unusual call for position
Post-qualifying press conference
Post-qualifying car weights – Kimi: 654.0kg

Webber ‘distracted’ by Raikkonen – "I would have liked a slightly cleaner run on my last Q3 lap. Kimi was, I don’t know, drinking some vodka or dreaming or
something, I don’t know what hell he was doing but he should have been
on the right and he was on the racing line, dreaming. That wrecked my
rhythm really into Stowe, I was very tight into there. Kimi couldn’t have done a better job of distracting me. He was
right on the racing line, on the most important lap of qualifying and
it ruined my rhythm."

Raikkonen says he did the best he could "I didn’t have much expectations, I didn’t know exactly where we
are, so overall I think we did as good a job as we could in the
qualifying. Unfortunately the car is more or less where we are now. We did nothing wrong, we couldn’t really go much faster. We try to do the best that we can in every race. For sure is more
fun to fight for first place but that’s not happening right now. We are
where we are and still pushing forward and trying to improve all the
time. Sometimes the races can be exciting when you are fighting in the
middle of the field, but for sure we would prefer to be in front. We have improved the time all the times, but the other teams have
improved it even more. We are improving all the time but other people
do not stop improving."

Raikkonen also claimed he did not believe he had distracted Red Bull
Mark Webber, after the Australian was critical of the Finn for being in
the racing line during his final flying lap.

"I tried to lose to the side as much as I could, so I don’t think he lost any time."

Ferrari Team QuotesKimi Raikkonen – 9th: "To be honest, I didn’t
expect much more. This is our current performance level and today it
was difficult to do any better. Each weekend we try our best: again on
this track, the F60 was well balanced but, as we have seen so often
this year, we don’t have enough grip. I did a good lap in Q2 but, with
race fuel on board, the car was not as quick as the others. We have
improved the car in these last two races, but it seems the others have
taken a bigger step forward than we have."

Chris Dyer: "Definitely not a very exciting result,
but it matches what we had expected from yesterday. We have improved
the performance of the car since then, but not enough to fight it out
with the best. Tomorrow’s race will definitely be very difficult for
us. We will try and do our best to get both cars home in the points."

https://i0.wp.com/img27.imageshack.us/img27/5543/evenstarsays.png Great pole from Vettel once again, but will Red Bull be able to exploit that in the race when it matters?! If Vettel fails as he previously did at Turkey, at least Webber is in a good position to pick up the pieces. Button couldn’t outqualify Barrichello on home soil, so no doubt he is very disappointed.

So Kimi made it through to the final session for 9th, unlike Massa who starts 11th. It seems both Kimi and Alonso are on similar strategies for the race; they may be heavier than those infront, as their final times were considerably slower than ther Q2 laptimes. It’ll be an interesting fight between Kimi and Alonso tomorrow then! It looks like Kimi unfortunately held up Webber who was on a hot lap for pole. Webber seems quite annoyed but whatever, traffic like that always happens in qualifying, it does to Kimi sometimes too of course but you never hear him make remarks like that about drivers. Bitter sod!

Anyway, hopefully Kimi has a good start, as he’s starting on the clean side of the grid, because that’s the key to having a progressive race. He suffered badly at Turkey off the start being on the dirty side, so he and the team will make sure it won’t happen again. The weather will play a big part, so let’s just wait and see what happens. Apparently during the Q3 session, Kimi gave his hand-sign wave to the camera in the garage but this was only shown by ESPN coverage (picture courtesy of Ladora). I’m looking forward to seeing a video of this because it’s not often when Kimi waves to the camera when at work!

The only distraction dear Webbo is your teammate -faster, younger keeping all the media around him-, you don’t need to be so rude -besides we all know that our Kimi is a gentleman on and out of the track- About the vodka and dreams ,with all respect is none of your business ,you better look for another excuse.Alex -the Canadian guy-

How awesome that he made the hand sign!!! I didn´t see it, I hope video footage of it emerges soon! Maybe he did it cause he doesn´t give a damn anymore, with everything that´s been happening…a way of saying "yeah, whatever..", lol.Keep flying!

Saw the hand sign! It was awesome of Kimi to do it. The camera was focusing on him in the car, watching the screen in front of him, then suddenly he stuck his gloved hand out of the cockpit and made the sign 🙂 I totally melted. As for Webber, he shouldn’t have let himself be distracted. Kimi did move and would have moved more if he thought it was necessary…although mind you, he is a good friend of Vettel, right? No need for Webber to be so rude or bitter about it. All these drivers and all their attitude problems- they’re just making Kimi look better and better. Interesting to see Hami way down at the back of the grid. Hope Kimi gets more points than Massa tomorrow! Go KIMI!

Don’t care about Webber’s whining and moaning. That bloke can be so annoying! Pleasant to look at, he is, but excruciating to our ears. The only thing outstanding I notice about Kimi during this GP is that he grows a mustache and goatee! Even his hair is longer! He lost his shaver or what? Does anyone else notice it, or is it just me? Anyway, that makes him look waaaaay matured and sexy!

Kimi is a fair driver and deserves respect!! pffffffEnjoy as you can Kimi and keep flying!!

saw the hand sign too, it was cute 🙂 good qualifying, in view of the circumstances, Ferrari is just not up there. About Webber, I don’t know if he got distracted or not and don’t really care, but he could have left the vodka comment as it’s so old, it ‘s not charming and makes him look like an equal fool as Coulthard.. About the facial hair, I like it but he needs a haircut!Hope that Sebi can make pole a win and that Kimi has fun, I don’t care where he ends! as longs he has fun, it like Spa 08 he ended up in the wall but he was so exciting to watch.. aah can’t wait for spa!

I know that Webber will pass remarks about his failure, but do not expect him to be that rude. Go and find another good excuse!!! We all know too well that Kimi will not behave like that no matter how his race is ruined!Agreed with Pippa, Kimi did move and as Saima said, traffic is usual in Q. Steve Slater also commented, he does not think that Kimi slowed Web, even his pen-ultimate lap was not better than Sebi. Anyway, Ferrari is still not there yet; but most importantly Kimi qualified better than his team-mate. Congrats to Sebi as well!Keep flying Kimi! Hope tomorrow will be fun!

I don’t like what Webber said about Kimi because Kimi didn’t block him! Kimi his a hundred time more respecfut than Webber! Webber just want a reason for his lack of speed in this section. Otherwise, if you want, I took a picture of Kimi which is its sign to the cameras. So, if you want it just go on : http://www.kimi6.skyrock.com <– sorry in french… ( but you can take the picture )*sorry for my bad english

Lol! I saw the hand sign too and for a moment I just couldn’t believe my eyes! Webber’s remark is totally uncalled for even if Kimi did slow him down – hopefully Kimi has a good race tomorrow & nabs some points! It would be nice if Sebs wins since winning from 9th will be an uphill task for our boy. Though nothing is impossible in F1!! 🙂

awwwww, i wish i could see the kimi hand sign footage too…about webber, he should have more respect towards kimi, that was clearly rude though a bit hilarious. just ignore himthe F60 just don’t really have the speed to match red bull or brawn, but no doubt that kimi has done his best, cause his Q2 time was pretty good!~! go kimi!well, let’s cross our fingers for tomorrow so that kimi can have a good and enjoyable race! WE BELIEVE IN YOU KIMI!KEEP FLYING!=)

is it me or what? does anyone else think that BBC directors have been cutting Kimi out of the screen in most of the time. They keep following Massa even on his out laps at times and what more. AGGRRRHH!!

Hi Saima and others!I didn’t expect Kimi to be as light as he was, but I think that he will gain couple of positions at the start.About Webber comments. I don’t think that Kimi will take care of those at all. He is just trying to do his best all the time.

Shame on you Mark Webber and your rude and un-warranted rant at our Kimi !! As an Aussie I am embarresed to be represented by someone who shows such poor sportmanships and acts like a sore looser …very un-Australian Webber and I will definatley be cheering for Vettel from now on …..bloody wanker !!!I really loved the pics of the hand sign…Kimi is sooo kool :))) Keep Flying !!

Webber is a sore loser indeed. He just cracked when the pressure was high. He encountered Kimi in sector 1, and there he was as quick as Vettel. He screwed up in sector 2 & especially 3. The next time he’s in front of Vettel, he has to move along and he knows it. Ferrari is the only KERS-car on the grid this weekend. Wil it finally make a difference? Is a second podium too much to ask for? And poor Lewis, I don’t like him one bit but it’s sad to see the reigning world-champion struggling (and getting his ass kicked in qualifying by his less-talented teammate). He’s encountering the same problem as Kimi last year, no confidence in the car because it’s too aggressive. I’m looking forward to the battle Kimi vs Alonso and I hope they push each other thru the rest of the pack. And bad luck to Jenson, he had enough!

We know Sebastian and Kimi are good mates, so perhaps Kimi wasn’t at all dreaming or intoxicated or sleeping at the wheel, eh Mark??! Considering that you are lighter and should’ve beaten your team mate to pole, but could’t do it, poor Kimi got the blame just because he so happen to be the car in front of you. Or perhaps your run of bad luck is yet to breakaway….. But of course, just like Kimi, I am only dreaming the theory…! The only thrill of the Qualifying was Kimi beating Massa into Q3!
