Post-qualifying car weights – Kimi: 658kg & Massa: 654kg

Ferrari Team QuotesKimi Raikkonen – 6th: "In qualifying the car was
better balanced than in free practice but, even on a light fuel load,
today we were a bit slower than the best. All weekend we have struggled
a bit to get the tyres working at their best on the first lap. For
sure, starting from the dirty side of the grid won’t be easy,
especially on a track like this, which is hardly ever used for racing,
which means the track surface offers little grip off the racing line.
We have made progress recently, but the others have also done the same,
which is what always happens."

Chris Dyer:
"It was a very close qualifying,
especially at the top end of the time sheet. The cars ran trouble free
all day: the major difficulty concerned tyre choice. In the end, we
opted for the softer compound and all in all, we believe that was the
right choice, even if the difference in performance between the two
over the first timed lap was not as marked as on other occasions."

That was the best Q3 session of 2009, so far! Wow! It was incredible –
I can’t believe how close it was between all of them, every thousandth of second counted. And that’s why Vettel’s lap was so great, so congratulatons to him, his second pole of the season. Okay, straight to the point – Kimi outqualified Massa finally, at Felipe Baby’s special circuit! This was the mission and Kimi accomplished it, so well done Kimi! Of course, Kimi needed to get the best result possible for himself anyway.  Kimi is also considerably heavier than Massa which makes his outqualifying time even more significant. The Raikko genuinely has better pace. We always believed this was so, but the previous Ferrari cars didn’t allow Kimi to exploit his driving style on this circuit – one that Massa has bragged about since 2006. While today was a good achievement for Ferrari, it’s the race that counts so… I can’t wait to see what happens after when the red lights go out tomorrow.

Keep Flying Kimi! ~

I was so pleased that Kimi had outpaced Felipe- Kimi has always been a better driver in my opinion! Anyway, I think Kimi did the best he possibly could, as i still feel that the Brawn’s have the upper-hand on the Ferrari’s, but we can see just how far Ferrari have come this season, considering that at on time they were at the same level as McLaren (but they are still doing crap!) But for the race tomorrow…. I hope Kimi has a good start and hopefully the KERS will help with this. This track also allows for more overtaking than in Monaco, so I think we shall all be in for an entertaining race. Kimi, you can do it tomorrow- good luck!

The fuel loads played a big part in Q3 too, which might explain why Ferrari are a couple of tenths down, because they were much closer in Q1 and Q2. The post-qualy car weights will be listed on Formula1.com and Autosport.com soon!

Kimi probably is not so satisfied with this result. But today’s qualifying means a lot to us 😀 He managed to BEAT Massa in Turkey with even heavier fuel load LOLThe start tomorrow is crucial. He’s on the dirty side. Hope he can hold everyone behind him, for sure Massa is the first one!Good luck Kimi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
