Ferrari Team Quotes: Kimi Raikkonen – 10th: "In the early stages, it
wasn’t too bad but then, after my stop, I lost grip from the tyres and
I was no longer able to push as hard as I wanted, because it meant the
car was sliding a lot. A few times, the engine seemed to lose power,
especially when I found myself close behind other cars, but then the
problem went away on its own. Clearly the championship situation looks
very difficult.

"We have made mistakes and we are not quick enough. In Barcelona,
when we will have new aero parts, we should be able to pick up some of
the grip we are lacking now. I am sure we can be competitive enough to
win again but this work will take time. The team is motivated, I’m sure
of that and we will all do our bit. Now it is easy to criticize, but we
know how to turn things round."

Post-race Interview with Kimi
From Autosport.com

Q. Tell us about you race, Kimi.

Kimi Raikkonen:
At the beginning it wasn’t too bad, but then I didn’t really have any
grip, so it was a bit hard to stay on the circuit and all the other
cars were fast, so they got past me.

Q. Was is difficult to get the tyres up to the right temperature?

KR: I don’t know if it’s the temperature. The thing is we
didn’t have grip. It was aqua-planning and sliding and every time I
touched a wet patch I just lost the front end grip. Overall it was very
difficult. In the beginning was not too bad but then, like I said, when
we put a lot of fuel and the new tyres it became more difficult.

Q. Did you have some problems with the engine?

KR: Some times I had something and it wasn’t running very
clearly but sometimes it can happen when you follow people and there’s
a lot of water and the spray affects it. But it cleared up after a
moment.

Q. Three races with no points for Ferrari, what are your thoughts?

KR: Not good. We have made some mistakes but unfortunately we
don’t have the speed to be where we want to be right now. But for sure
when we get to Barcelona and get some new parts we should improve quite
a bit. If we had had a dry race today we would have scored some points.

We don’t have enough grip in the dry but in the wet it seems to be
even more difficult. We’ll do the best that we can and I’m sure we are
going to be back in a position to challenge for wins, but it will take
a little while, so we just need to go through this hard time and we
definitely going to get back.

Q. Is it difficult to find the motivation under this situation?

KR: It’s nothing to do with motivation. Unfortunately we are
not fast enough. It’s not about people’s motivation or that we don’t
try the best we can. But it will take a little while. It will not
happen overnight. We know that once we get to Barcelona we should take
a step with the car. Hopefully it will improve the situation and it has
nothing to do with people not trying to do their best.

But it’s not an easy sport to catch up and sometimes when you don’t
have what you want it just seems to be very difficult and everything
seems to be against you. It’s hard to get out of it, but like I said it
takes a while and we need to get through that period and I’m sure that
we are gong to be in a position to challenge. I don’t know when, but
hopefully sooner than later.

https://i0.wp.com/img382.imageshack.us/img382/9819/3454644295c34dedae43o.jpgQ. Is this the worst situation you have been in your career?

KR: I’ve have had difficult seasons before and bad starts of
the season before. It’s a hard time for everybody, but this is racing.
We try to improve and we try to do the best. It’s not what we want, so
people are not so happy sometimes and we get lots of bad publicity from
the papers, but it doesn’t stop us from trying and improving things.
Like I said, it will improve at some point. We will get back there, but
unfortunately we are not where we should be now.

Q. Where do you believe the problem lies?

KR: We probably don’t have the same downforce as the others.
When we get the new floor for sure we are going to get lots of
downforce and it will make the car fast. In the dry the handling of the
car is not too bad, but we are missing downforce through the corners.
For sure it will make a massive difference.

https://i0.wp.com/img27.imageshack.us/img27/5543/evenstarsays.png Kimi said on the team radio at the first phase of the race that "the engine is not running well?" I couldn’t make it out properly but I assume there was as Massa retired with a reliability problem.
Kimi had a bad grip problem which occured after his pit stop so that explains his decreased pace. Really, what could he do? He’s driven amazing races in his career and he’s still the same man. But the car is part of the game and you can’t do much when you’re racing a car that isn’t where it should be. Great race by Red Bull! Awesome drive by Vettel, he’s amazing. Webber missed out on his first victory again but I’m sure he’s very happy nonetheless. Finally, Brawn GP have been beaten. Didn’t take very long did it!? So there’s no reason Ferrari and Kimi can’t fight back. They’ve said they will but it wasn’t going to happen straight away this weekend.

Anyway, I’m sorry for the result but there’s not much Ferrari or Kimi
could’ve done. Kimi was doing the best he could, he kept it up
throughout the whole race, but could no longer do anything after his
final pit stop. He probably also had something look after, if there was
a problem.

Yesterday in the blog, my comment for the race was this:
"All I hope for the race is that Ferrari are able
to maintain Kimi’s position, wherever he may be during the race. Take
it easy, there’s no rush on track as far as the F60 is concerned. As
previously mentioned, the car has a long way to go and the development
can’t be hasty, and the focus needs to be on just getting it to the
finish line in the best position possible."

So, that’s pretty much what happened today. Of
course, it hurts to see Kimi have to struggle with a disappointing car…again.
But he’s strong and is determined to improve it with the team as he keeps saying. That will take time. Alonso and Kubica have also said similar things about improvement. I’m kinda
annoyed thatKimi finished lower than he started though –
That proves his
qualy lap was very good indeed.
I hope all the fans enjoyed the race for what it produced after the dreaded safety car start, that was very boring. The race was interesting but I’m a bit fed up of the rain now.

Everyone’s after Kimi’s head. Either he can’t drive, he can’t talk properly, he can’t do anything right or everything all together. Well, if he scored points today what would that even mean? Not much to me. Kimi doesn’t need to prove anything, to anyone, to impress me. He’ll always be the best and I’ll never give up on him. Never. That’s why I say Keep Flying Kimi.

I’ve been here before many times, defending Kimi and trying to help make the doubters and haters see and understand
how unfair they’re being towards him. But they don’t care, they’ll never understand.

It makes me very sad that the team Kimi drives for and respects so
much, has so many fans that cannot respect him. Sure, the Tifosi are hardcore
and cannot accept losing but to blame and insult Kimi so much is just
baffling and simply disgusting. Kimi is Ferrari’s world champion.

They’re still in Schumi-gaga land too. And you know what I say to that?
They can take their Ferrari, and shove it up their asses. If they don’t
learn to start respecting and stop waffling and wrongfully accusing
Kimi of things he doesn’t even say or do, then these people here don’t
deserve our reasoning. They create too much negativity and aren’t worth the time.

So take care, ignore them all and keep the faith. Kimi will be back ~

Don’t know how to say but, at least Kimi finished…OK,that a good sign for this season…Restart from Europe! It’s not easy to fight back though, Kimi and Ferrari will try, try their best. As a Kimi fan, it’s really not a good feeling to see Kimi struggling so much.Take care, Evenstar. Have a good rest!

We were rather surprised to see Kimi finish 10th- we thought he was running 12th or something. Actually in Autosport’s classification, he IS classified as 12th (they say he’s 10 but in the list they released they switched him and Heidfeld)… but in the F1 website, he’s 10th. Wonder how he managed 10th while we weren’t looking, hehe. :)Rather disappointing race… It’s quite painful, seeing Kimi so slow like that. There must have been a problem with his car, because we know Kimi can drive well in the wet.Oh well… we’ll just wait for the next race. Hopefully Ferrari can get some points. It’s a shame Massa didn’t finish, he was looking quite strong. 😦 But we’re happy that Vettel won. Doesn’t overcome our disappointment at Ferrari’s lack of points, though.By the way, do you know what time Kimi will be at Regent St. on May 6? 😀

Kimi was doing well, until after his pit-stop. To see him being overtaken by Buemi is painful, but I reckon his car is not working well as he has said at the beginning of the race. He struggled a lot with his dissapointing car and just want to finish the race. Ferrari really have to do something!!!! Sebbi’s drive was really awesome and I am very happy that he has beaten Brawn!!! He’s really "The new kids on the block".Sorry to hear that you are not well Saima. Have a good rest and take care!

Kimi just said it like it is – "it’s nothing to do with motivation". If you don’t have the right package – speed, downforce, grip, aerodynamics, so on, so forth, it won’t get you up the top of the grid. Just look at the McLarens and BMWs compared to last year. Does anyone ask Hamilton or Kubica about their motivation ?? Really, some of the interviewer questions are so inane and complete waste of time and space. What gets me though, is why was Massa able to move up the grid whereas Kimi was sliding backwards? Was it his set-up ? I’m sure it was frustrating for Kimi, with his car lacking grip. Ferrari must find a speedy remedy come Bahrain and the first of the European races. I have no doubt Kimi is 110% on the job.Speaking of remedy, lots of warm honey & lemon drink for you Saima to treat your cold & throat. If you are game, add garlic, ginger or whisky !! Get well soon. Positive of the race being Mark Webber’s best podium position to date.

i woke up after two hours sleeping to watch the race and it was really difficult for me to follow in my bed! lol! … i just wake up now.so disappoiting race indeed for Kimi but amazing race in general. i’m very happy to see Vettel winning, he really deserved it, his race was perfect… Kimi’s one finally was not so bad with such a car but frustating to see him being past by so much others and out of points again, but for one point or two, i don’t bother… it was difficult to find the sleep again after. but i’m absolutely not disappointed by Kimi, he was not often sliding hard like a certain one in another team in grey… i don’t have read the press but is he critized for being out of track so often?no matter afterall, they can say what they want, we know Kimi, we know he will never give up so like him we just have to wait for a better car. but i’m released to see that finally his team mate was not in front of him on the finish line, that’s not really fair, i know, but i don’t bother, i was annoyed to see him not struggling like Kimi… :Pso next week end again a race, i don’t expect really nothing, i just hope to see some improvement but i will never give up on Kimi, for sure!Keep flying Kimi!and take care Sweetie! 🙂

I strongly agree with u, Saima! some ppl just keep saying that Kimi’s not hard-working enough. he’s bored with the race and has not motivation, blah blah. I’ve heard those craps almost every season and i had enough. I used to get mad and defend Kimi. and yes, they just don’t get it cuz they don’t care. damn! i don’t wanna waste my time for trying to make them understand anymore. who cares if they don’t get it. well who cares if they don’t understand. I always keep faith to Kimi. I believe that Kimi’s pushing the car 100% and trying his very best to the job. It’s the worst start of those years but I never give up on him.anyway hopefully Kimi can pick up some points in Bahrain. no matter what the result is, I always enjoy every race with Kimi.Get some rest Saima, hope u get well soon! 🙂

ya saima u r right these people dont see the performance of the car and just blame kimi…..i’m doin the same over hear, trying to explain people what is actually wrong and its not kimi in fault……overall looking at race and thinking about ferrari, i;m dissappointed, but looking at the current potential of the car i feel kimi did a really fabulous job. Kimi did according to Ferrari’s goal of this weekend i.e to finish the race, and thats what he did. The car was such a crap that it couldn’t last the race too but with having a car like this and driving in these condition, he finished the race ! He could have pushed but i think he didn’t take any risk due to Ferari’s goal of weekend……NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS I JUST TAKE IT AS THAT WE HAVE MOMENTS OF HAPPINESS AND DIFFICULTIES TOO, AND THATS WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH KIMI…..ONLY WHAT MATTERS IS HOW YOU DEAL WITH IT AND I’M HAPY TO SEE KIMI STILL IN POSITIVE PLACE…..KIMI FANS WE NEED TO BE STRONG OUR DAY OF CELEBRATION HAS YET TO COME ND IS NOT TOO FAR- KEEP FLYIN KIMI RAIKKONEN(ICE-CREAM MAN)LOL !

Spot on Saima as always! There´s not much to add really…I´m delighted for Seb V. if Kimi can´t win, he´s my second choice! And a very well deserved win, I mentioned on the forum that this win wasn´t super easy as last year´s at Monza, he had safety car here more than once, other drivers overtook him, it was raining all the time(hello weather? it´s enough now, we´re fed up with the rain!!!), so he did an outstanding job, same as Webber, I couldn´t be happier for Red Bull, they deserve it!And as for Kimster, I can´t say anything really, I wasn´t expecting much, but still, one always has that faint hope deep down that he´ll do better, but it´s not him obviously, it´s the fuc***g car! what else?!?!?!?!I don´t want to rant or anything….I can only say that I´m proud to be a Kimi fan, so proud, and I don´t give a shi*t what blind a**holes say about him, they clearly forget who won WDC in 07 and everything he did at McLaren. So-called fans who bash him, or tifosis, cannot call themselves fans or Ferrari fans for that matter! You´re right, they need (as well as the team) to get in their heads that MS is gone and he´s not coming back! It´s the Ice Age now!KEEP FLYING KIMI-KEEP FLYING EVENSTAR!!!

I daydreamed about Kimi in class today. We were discussing emotional intelligence and one who has high score are the people who are very independent from others, don’t need to have people around, can handle frustration really well and aren’t engaging in inappropriate behavior. Emotional intelligence have 4 components: people with high score are good at detecting emotions within themselves and others and know how to use them in their advantage, they also understand emotions vey well and know how to control them and direct them. I’m sorry to ramble off my course but I thought of Kimi immediately when reading this, so I wanted to share with you guysanyway I think people just have a hard to believe that the ferrari car is that bad as it’s a ferrari so they blame it on Kimi but let’s face it, the italians better suck it up, instead of protesting others they should put that energy into developing the car. The can catch up but it will be hard. I do wonder whether Felipe gets this much sh*t throw at him,..Anyway I want Jean Todt back, it was nice to see the pic of Kimi and Jean at the circuit… it got me wishfull thinkinggreetz

It is very interesting to read what you all wrote. I mean the media/ tv stuff. I think I should be happy, that the German televison saids NOTHING about Kimi or Ferrari or Felipe. Oh no, that’s not true! Christian Danner (a very stupid old race driver, by the way) mentions that Kimi is the one with the best looking baseballcap… what an intelligent comment on Kimi.I think Ferrari will fix it up until the first European GP. But there was a comment of Micheal Schumacher (i really like that guy, so I think highly of him). he mentions Ferrari should maybe forget this season and look forward. This was a little bit shocking for me. Maybe Michael was just frustrated of the race result, I hope so…
