After a positive first day of testing at the Sahkir circuit, Kimi Raikkonen and Luca Badoer continued taking the lead of the test. Kimi opened the day with a number of short stints, setting the best time of 1.30.593 at 11:39 GMT.
The Ferraris’ have a top speed of near 300 km/h, almost 10 km/h faster than the Toyotas’. During the afternoon, Kimi concentrated on three long runs, each consisted of 15
laps. In race configuration the F2008 was 1.5 seconds faster than the TF108
in qualifying configuration.
Test report: Raikkonen sets blistering pace
Helped by improved weather conditions, with nearly no wind,
Raikkonen managed a best time of 1:30.595 after carrying out a Grand
Prix simulation with the F2008.
Raikkonen’s best lap was over two seconds faster than the pole position time of last year’s Grand Prix.
Badoer, meanwhile, carried out general development of the new car, covering 64 laps.
Italian Jarno Trulli joined Toyota teammate Timo Glock for today’s
session, as the Japanese squad continued working on the development of
the new TF108.
German Glock was the quickest of the Toyota duo, albeit over two
second slower than Raikkonen. Trulli finished nearly three seconds
behind the Finn after losing track time due to a problem with his car.
