Friday – Practice 2, Kimi Slips
Kimi was on a roll, until Hamilton caused a bit of a delay on his lap – let’s hope he’ll get penalised for cheating with the tyres! Hahahaha!
Championship leader Lewis Hamilton beat title rival Fernando Alonso
to the fastest time in Friday afternoon practice at Interlagos.
Despite the looming prospect of a post-session visit to the stewards
to find out if he will be penalised for using too many sets of wet tyres earlier on, Hamilton set the fastest time by 0.122 seconds when
both McLarens tried the softer Bridgestones in the final minutes.
Kimi Raikkonen lost time on his soft tyre run when he locked up while
trying to pass Hamilton. He could only manage fourth place.Damn. Kimi locked up trying to pass a slow Hamilton on track and thus his flying lap was ruined. Only by 3 tenths however, so the Finn is still quite fast on the Interlagos circuit.
I don’t really think Hamilton cheated with the tyres – I just thought I’d play along as many of pro Kimi fans are attacking Lewis for anything now – give him a break people! Kimi’s going to win anyway (hopefully), so relax. The grid always switches around from practise 1 to 2, that’s because a lot of changes are being made. Look at Renault for example, Heikki was P3 in the first session whereas his teammate was last, and now it’s completely opposite. The wet weather means they are not only working with different pace set ups, but also depending on the possibility of rain tomorrow and in the race. Kimi still looks very good nonetheless!
Ferrari – Kimi Raikkonen: "As usual on Friday, it is
difficult to understand exactly where we stand compared to the others.
That was probably even more the case today given the track conditions. This morning in the wet, we just checked that the car was okay and
then in the afternoon, especially the first part of the session, the
track still had some damp patches. Then, when conditions improved, we came up against a bit of
traffic. We are reasonably happy with the way today went, but there is
still a lot of room for improvement on the car."
Press conference – Participating: Flavio Briatore (Renault), Ron Dennis (Mclaren Mercedes), Jean Todt (Ferrari)
Q: Does Kimi ever show any pressure?
Jean Todt: With Kimi, when you start to know him better, you have to
translate his feelings. He’s a great guy, he’s very dedicated, doesn’t
complain, just does his job and we are very happy with him, and we are
very happy to try to do as much as we can for him as he does for the
team.

Friday – Practice 1, Kimi Leads

Raikkonen showed everyone his determination of dominating at Brazil by starting with P1 on Friday practise – it left Ron Dennis rather bemused.
Kimi Raikkonen led a Ferrari one-two in the damp opening practice
session at Interlagos, with Lewis Hamilton taking fifth and Fernando
Alonso choosing not to participate.
Drizzle fell throughout the session, occasionally increasing to a
heavier rain shower and ensuring that a dry line never appeared.
The Ferraris eventually emerged in the final 15 minutes and swiftly
moved into first and second. Felipe Massa was the faster of the pair
initially, before Raikkonen moved ahead by half a second with his last
lap.
Hamilton made two comparatively tentative runs near the end of the
morning, eventually taking fifth position. But his McLaren teammate
Alonso decided to limit himself to an installation lap.
Wow, it’s looking great for Ferrari. Kimi just decided to beat Massa’s times with half a second to spare! Strange that Alonso decided to just put in an installation lap – he has the same engine from China, however on Friday practises the two-race engine rule is exempt, I think. Hamilton seems to be running conservative but if Kimi keeps up this kind of speed, then no one has a chance for the Number 1 trophy on Sunday! Keep flying Kimi!
