FP2 – "A good start to the weekend" – Kimi

News:
TS: Raikkonen (reported in Monaco practice) is having trouble adapting to the traction control in the Ferrari. It doesn’t suit his style. "Kimi is the fastest man to take the car out of the corner, but the TC of Ferrari desroys his best ability. The traction control is too strong and Kimi cant take the corners to straight same as with Mclaren" Peter from TS said.

Ferrari remain upbeat on Monaco chances

Kimi Raikkonen managed to set the second best time in the afternoon, after Lewis Hamilton stopped because of his crash, but neither he nor Massa believe they have shown their true potential yet.

https://i0.wp.com/img.mtv3.fi/mn_kuvat/mtv3/urheilu/formulakuvat/kuljettajat/2007/437966.jpg"We have found a good balance on the car right from the morning session and we have completed all the programme we had planned for the day," said Raikkonen.

"As usual, it is too early to draw conclusions as to how the rest of the weekend will go, because we don’t know what our closest rivals have done and also because the track conditions change a lot from Thursday to Saturday. All in all, a good start to the weekend."
Kimi is doing a good job, in regards to working things out with his F2007. So we have read and seen that it will basically take a lot more practise for Kimi to work his way around the traction control setting of the car, and he’ll try not to penalise his own natural driving style due to the tyres, because he thinks it’s just about set up (i.e figuring out the best suiting between him and the car). Obviously this wasn’t going to happen in 2 months of winter testing; the races are the img386/8945/captmco10705241145monactu0.jpgmain part of discovering your competitive level. He is finding out new things each time he tests he says, so I have all my confidence in Kimi that it won’t be long until he is winning races again.

There is no other choice really; it’s make or break this year. However, I am glad Kimi isn’t pressurizing himself over this. He is working hard, but he is keeping his cool at the same time and is not risking anything, especially in the races. This is perhaps why we haven’t seen him go out guns blazing like how we are used to seeing him. And it may also be the reason why he is so laid back and isn’t even bothered about Schumacher’s presence. It’ll fall into place and Kimi believes this, even if his teammate has 2 wins and 3 poles, for now…. Keep flying Kimi and good luck for qualifying!

Wow, it’s quite a strange feeling seeing Kimi in a Ferrari out the tunnel, the image affixed in my mind from Monte Carlo was always the MP4/20 of Kimi’s victory there.

Well the highly anti-cipated weekend in Monte Carlo begun today, and here are the results from FP1!

Crashes:

Hmmm, so all that really happened in practise was Fisichella taking the honours of First Crash of Monaco hehe!

Ferrari work hard to suit Kimi:
According to TS, Ferrari is still pushing hard to suit the car for Kimi’s driving style. In this race Kimi has first time front suspension that is designed for him. (unclear is it custom or is Massa using it also)

Kimi doesnt believe in radical change of driving style:
"Maybe little should be changed, but its more about setup. When setup is right, thats it. In last race quali wasnt bad, I only lost two final corners."

Peter(who interviews drivers) says that Ferrari’s TC prevents Kimi taking car out of the corners like he did in Mclaren.
