Last Lap Catastrophe!!!

What a weird race that was. Nurburgring witnessed many cars sliding off the track, nearly all drivers had committed. Even leader Kimi Raikkonen. Suffering from an annoying glitche in the braking system, the Finn had no choice but to do what he’s gotta do. He kept focused. He kept determined to win the race.

Alonso was closing in as Kimi lost nearly a second a lap in the last 5 laps. The front right tyre was playing up, blisters, strong vibrations, blurred vision, however Kimi kept it together. Lap 59 came and on the last lap after the straight, Kimi’s tyre could no longer hold together. It broke the suspension and delivered Kimi into the gravel.

Such frustration for the ICEMAN. However, i feel the team McLaren had made the right decision not to bring in Kimi for a tyre change. Bringing Kimi in on lap 57? Just to settle for a few points? Or take the risk and hold on to the fact that it just might work. McLaren took the risk respectively, however things are awfully painful and unpredictable in F1.

Kimi and Mclaren will head on to the next race being more determined. Being strongly resilient, they should conquer again, and they earn it.

A little comfort was in Juan Pablo’s effort to retain 2 points for the team. After being dragged out in Turn One by Mark Webber in the Williams, Juan’s start was hampered. It was probably the best start the colombian has had this season, he was up in 3rd from starting 5th. He would have certainly scored big this race.

More news to come later.
